We have been wanting to check out horses 4 heroes for a long time. It is free to visit through the library! Booking is very simple if you visit the libraries website and search horses 4 heroes. Some pros: All of the staff were very nice. The animals were all very nice too. There were porto potties. Some cons: the milking station was pretty gross. I peeked into the bucket of water (that feeds the udders) and there was a slime/sediment in the bottom of the bucket with mosquito larva swimming around. Not sanitary. The bedding for the goats was entirely made of poop. It must have been weeks since it has been cleaned. Not sanitary. I also think it would be nice to have hand sanitizer or a proper hand washing station directly next to the entrance for the goats for this reason in particular. The water the animals (goats and sheep) had to drink also looked cloudy and had a smell. My last complaint is that it was $10 for a horse ride that lasted maybe 2 minutes? I mean I thought for $10 they could ride a BIT longer. Especially because there was no one else waiting. I will still give this business 4 stars because of how friendly and accommodating they were. Please be aware of sanitary conditions and take proper precautions for you and your family. read more

Wonderful calming morning learing about horses, mini horse, goats, cows, sheep, a bull, and a lama. All the animals are well kept and cared for. 9-11 Fridays and Saturdays for family farm days. Kind and gentle staff help along the self guided tour of the farm. Steve was telling us all the goats names and how to scratch their heads. They know all the animals names and how each animal has their own personality. We enjoyed the calming energy of being able ride a horse and get to know them and let the child get used to being on a live animal they have a huge rocking horse to understand it moves. The volunteers are so patient with each child. There is ample shade and simple activities for the kiddos to do while waiting their turn. We walked thru the barn to try and milk a fake cow also got to pet a live one. There is ample shad and water. We'll worth the price for education and 2 hours of outdoor fun. read more

Came here for a play date , while I was checking in... the lady (Sidney) was very rude I didn't care for her attitude while she was checking me in. Even the other parents that I was with had said she was rude too. While sitting down waiting my child decided to look around this man starts yelling at me to watch my child and she's not allowed to wonder I explained that I am watching my child and she isn't even near the animals he then storms off without me finishing my sentence. Why hold family events but constantly want to yell at the kids and parents? I always had good experiences coming here and I was the one who recommend to have the play date here, but after yesterday.... It was the Worst experience and I'm not sure if I would come back if this is the attitude this husband and wife keep having. read more

I've come here for 2 field trips and a party and every time the staff is so rude. If you don't like children stop inviting children to come with the ranch. Also if you the stress of running a charity is too much maybe it's time to pass it on instead of telling children "don't start a charity there's too many". TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! & WE WONT RETURN FOR YOUR BUSINESS! The farm had a 4pm-8pm slot time available on their website & I thought it would be perfect since we are not able to make it to the morning time slots. We drove from across town with my kids to look forward to their pony rides. Unfortunately, when we arrived along with 3 other families, the owner (Sydney Knott) came out apologizing for the error she had made & explaining there is never a 4pm slot available, it is always at 9am-11am on Fridays and Saturdays. She also said, she sent all of her staff home because the event happened earlier in the day and was unable to accommodate us & other families while we were there. The only accommodation that was said & made was for us to come back during normal business hours & no reservation needed for it. My kids and the rest of my family was truly disappointed especially driving 45 minutes to this location & planning our day around this event. As we were walking out, the other owner (Sydney's husband, Mr. Knott) came out & started yelling at my family in front of my children. & said "what are you doing here?! This is private property!" & we explained to him what had happened and he didn't believe us! He responded "Oh, my wife doesn't make mistakes! just kidding!" "Yeah, we're closed, this is private property...its too hot for the animals to come out during this time of day" He was obviously totally unaware of what happened & was truly discourteous. He went back inside their front office to speak to his wife, came out and started to push us out since he was afraid more people were going to show up. He didn't care to see the email that we received with the 4pm slot. Before when Sydney came out and apologized, I was like ok, maybe we'll come back & she seemed truly apologetic about it. But when we get yelled at by the other owner when the mistake was on their part, it was totally unprofessional. I hope he does not speak to other families like that, & seeing other bad reviews on here about this place, it does not look good on their part. When you're running a business, you cannot treat people like that. We will never be coming back after being treated so poorly! read more

We came on the Summer Family Day with my kiddos and they really enjoyed themselves. They rode a horse, walked the mini horses, played on the little play structure, and looked at the other animals. You can tell they really maintain the property well. They offer summer camps which I thought was cool. So I've been trying to find a a place that does horse rides, so I could bring my boys. Horses4heroes has been on my list to visit. My 3 year old was able to ride a pony and my 6 year old rode a horse. The volunteers/staffs were nice. You get one pony/horse ride included in your paid admission. What through us off was a couple of things . She was yelling at one of the staffs/volunteers , and cutting the staff off when they were trying to speak. The second one was upon checking in. I asked the owner if we were able to purchase feed to feed the horses. She said that they don't do that there, because it messes with the horses feeding schedule. Ok, totally fine. Then we were told by the staffs that if we were interested in feeding the horses. Then they do that at 11:45am. So my husband went up to that owner, and asked if we could feed the horses. This time her response was that my kids were too young, and that it's only for ages 8 and up. Ok, not what we were told by her earlier. We did see kids younger than my older son go in the stables to feed the horses. So that confused us, and irritated me. I definitely understand business' have rules/policy, but when told differently otherwise is what's irritating. read more

This is a busy, little farm dedicated to teaching about the west and farm animals. I appreciate the concept. The volunteers do love animals and really seem to enjoy teaching school groups that visit. Unfortunately, a nice experience can be clouded by the overly strict owner who rudely blew whistles at the adults treating them like children for things like texting on the phone. I understand her having rules, but having no real knowledge of why another adult is having to attend to something, she really needs to show a little respect. I've taken my toddler here countless times and she always enjoys one of the many activities the ranch has to offer. Her favorite is meeting the miniature horses and getting to brush their hair! It's a like a "My Little Pony" dream. She also has fun on the play structure, learning about the animals and meeting the other ranch animals. We went to H4H for the first time today and had the best experience. Our 2 yo just loved it and while he didn't ride the horses there were so many other activities and animals. We had the most fantastic experience at my Daughter's 4th birthday party at Horses4Heros. Sydney was quick to respond to any questions I had and had a wonderful schedule for the event that we just followed. As soon as we arrived, volunteers were there to help us unload and set up. Everyone was so helpful and sweet as can be. They made sure we had plenty of photo opportunities for the birthday girl, her brother, the family, and the entire party. Everything from the mini horses, farm animals, and horse back riding exceeded my expectations. The rides were not just one walk around the ring but a substantial little ride for each child. We had a pretty big crew so they brought out 3 horses to keep us on schedule and not shorten the rides. Something that was extra special was that they dressed up one of their horses as a unicorn for my unicorn obsesses daughter. She was delighted. The horse was beautiful and beautifully decorated. I absolutely love everything about this nonprofit organization. Today we visited for open house and my kids had so much fun riding horses, petting miniature horses, petting goats, playing in the jumpy house, and with all the kids' toys. I spoke with many people who work/volunteer on the ranch and everyone was so nice and down to earth. This ranch is such a gem in the desert. So happy we stumbled across it. This is a great facility for children, and hidden gem in Las Vegas. My daughter has been to camp multiple times, and now takes weekly riding lessons. The staff and volunteers and patient with the children, and all the animals are treated well. There's also a lot more to this place than horses, they have a barn and large pens filled with animals like llama, goats, pigs, rabbits, a donkey and a bull. Lots to see and experience for our city kids to get their hands dirty. You'll need to sign up for a family membership, $50. Camp and lessons are affordable. Iam writing this review due to a situation I encountered at our visit. Let me first say everyone was extremely nice and kids enjoyed it. As we were at the Llama's a gentleman was giving a talk to the kids and he stopped in the middle and said to a child young lady stop picking your nose it's a disgusting habit and singled this child out in front of all her friends and parents. These are 5 year olds. Several comments were made afterwards by others of shock,!!! He should not have done that it's not his place to address in front of friends. It was not his place to even comment to her she's not his child!!! Lots of kids had allergies that day??? I just thought this needed to be addressed. It kind of put a damper on a nice outing.!! If someone had done that to his child in that way I doubt that he would have been happy!!! read more

The place itself -- the health of the animals, activities available, and overall vibe are awesome! We had such a great time interacting with the goats and miniature horses. The one drawback is that Bill is a little rude -- he was really nice at first but seemed to get agitated with the kids and the way he was telling them to "chill out" etc because they were excited, was done distastefully and clearly made the children feel embarrassed and scolded. When I asked his name (because I was so pleased with his storytelling of each animal) he said "I don't know what is it" because I didn't notice his name tag. My daughter attended the Ranch Learning Center today and said, "It was too fun to be true!" Distance learning has been hard for her, and having school at the ranch is the first time she has been happy this school year. She wants to go every day now. She was able to have her riding lesson during her school break, which she loved and it worked well for our family's schedule as well. Staff was attentive to her school schedule and helped her complete all of her work. She loved feeding the horses, petting the bunnies and pigs, and even got to try archery. I picked up a dirty, happy, tired girl today, which means she had a great day at the ranch. read more

Overall: Good time with the horses. Workers and volunteers were great. The stressed out person in charge however could set a better tone for everyone around her. We had a Groupon and had tried a few times via phone to book a date for the two of us. We did get a reservation, and were told we'd receive a parking pass via email. Prior to our date, we still didn't receive the pass and we phoned in. We were told we didn't have a reservation, and that we should have booked via email and not phone to begin with. After more conversation, the gal who helped us finally located our reservation and said if we had corresponded with her via email to begin with, there wouldn't have been any of this "ball-dropping." Ball dropping? As if it was our fault that someone forgot to email us a pass because we didn't know all bookings needed to be done via email? We eventually received the parking pass and arrived on time. The gal in charge (same person we'd been dealing with up to this point) seemed frazzled, like it was chaos for her to have 3 parties at her table at the same time. She'd start to check us in, then would help another party, then another, then help us again, then stop to answer someone else's question. She looked disappointed that we handed her our paper Groupon. "You don't have this on your phone?" she asked. Yes, we did, and started to pull it up. My boyfriend who bought the Groupon had to unlock his phone, find the app, log in... and I guess that took too long so she accepted the paper but said it was extra work for her to have to manually type in the number for processing the Groupon. Another party handed her a paper Groupon too and I she let out another huff, asking them the same thing. By now, it's more than 15 minutes into our 2-hour appointment and she tells us we're doing our hay ride first, but that we'd have to wait for the other Groupon party to arrive as they were late. I'm not sure that they ever showed up, because some time later she took us over to the riding area instead where there was another group getting their demonstration. A trainer was on his horse describing to them, "...next, I'm going to show you how to..." and she said, "NO! They're just Groupon people, you don't show them that. They only get the short introduction." Then she calls out to another fellow and says, "You're going to take these other Groupon people." I understand her having to clarify to her workers what kind of package we were entitled to, but being referred to out loud by the "discount" that we paid felt demeaning. Our trainer Alec was fantastic. Alec answered all of our questions and led us with a corral ride, giving us as much time as we needed. It was a great experience to ride Frankie. You can tell that Alec and his teammates loved and cared for the animals. In fact, all the workers and volunteers that we met there were the friendliest people and made you feel welcome. The lady in charge however, made customers feel like we were inconveniencing her. She even snapped at this cute little boy who asked if he could chase one of the rabbits who was loose and hopping around, and before his parents could answer, she said, "NO that would be cruel!" I understood that of the variety of animals in the visiting area, some were rescued and looked a bit worn down or were intimidated by humans so I totally sympathize. They're not there for our entertainment, but as a way for us to appreciate that they're as tender as any other animal and I felt like they could use more TLC. Maybe close that pen to humans so that they're less stressed. I think cleaner water would have been desired, but we did go on a real windy day and I don't know how practical it is for them to have to change out that water more frequently. Perhaps find a way to keep the water troughs somewhat covered from the dust and wind. Bottom line, this organization needs support. I felt like everyone who worked/volunteered there are involved because they wholeheartedly want to care for the animals and give people a chance to interact at this historic site where it makes you feel like you're not in Las Vegas. The park itself is beautiful. We never did take the hayride. The hayride was a flatbed behind a pickup truck with a some bales of hay, so it wasn't the "ranch" experience we hoped for. But we did walk around the entire park to check out the other wildlife, ponds, and historic buildings. It's worth the drive. read more

Absolutey wonderful place. Great for kids during breaks and holidays. Prices are reasonable due to all the activities they will participate in. My kids were so happy to ride Marvin, Honey and Chico. Whether for beginners or regular riders, the staff treats the kids with excitement and enthusiasm. In May 2020, I was very concerned with my 5 year olds emotional development due to the pandemic. As an educator, I know how important interactions with peers is. I was also, of course, concerned with her health and safety. After much research, we found Horses 4 Heroes Summer Camp. We decided to try the Horse Camp for 3 days. Our daughter flourished! She went the whole summer. She came home dirty and happy every day lol. We signed her up for Horse Play every Saturday in the Fall. Being a non-profit, it depends greatly on volunteers and camps to fund the ranch. For those going for the first time, it is important to know that many there are volunteers and may not know all the answers. Be patient and kind, because they are giving their time for a great cause. Sydney, the big boss, is firm and amazing. The children learn that this is not a playground, you are caring for animals and must be safe. I read a review on her saying the animals are mistreated. This is very upsetting to say the least. To give an example, Chico is an older horse who the children ride. He is patient and great with them. However, on a busy Saturday, Syd made everyone wait because Chico was struggling. It didn't matter how many people were waiting. The care of the horse was most important. Chico was switched out immediately to be given a rest and TLC. He is no longer used often because they know him and the animals are the most important. read more

I have started taking weekly lessons at Horses for Heroes and I look forward to each lesson. After a hiatus of 4+ years from riding, I was looking for a small, low pressure experience. I was impressed by their horses, which are lesson horses and some probably have baggage of their own. The ones I have ridden and watched others ride were kind to their riders and took care of them, which I think is important for new or inexperienced riders. The horses also know how to ride with more experienced riders. All of the horses and other animals are well cared for, they have lots of other animals besides horses, mini horses, pigs, llamas, chickens, etc, it's a fun place to visit. I was also impressed by the number of different programs they have, including horse therapy, open houses, tours, etc. read more

My granddaughter began her first lesson today and what an experience. She was so excited! We learned so many things we did not know before today, so our visit was educational as well. We were able to browse and meet the animals on the property as well. What a fun couple of hours. The trainers were patient and always praised her accomplishments. My granddaughter felt really awesome about her first lesson. She is already looking forward to her next lesson. It's a great place for the entire family. We went here for a Team Building experience and it was such a great day! We learned so much about the animals and ourselves with all of the wonderful exercises. It was very hands on. We were there for a birthday party and were very unhappy with the treatment of a horse. One of the guys there got angry with a horse and continued whip the horse excessively a long time making several of us pretty upset. This was in front of all of the children at the party. Just about the time we were thinking of intervening another person went and spoke to him and took the whip and the horse. This is not the way to train or care for horses. Not a good experience at all. The hay ride was dangerous. She drove way too fast with small children in the trailer and causing excessively dust. My 8 year old son spent the last two weeks of summer at this summer camp and fell in love. He only wants to come back to this camp when school is out! The kids are allowed to be kids. They are able to run around, get dirty, interact with the animals and just be kids! We started weekly private lessons after camp and he is doing great. He loves doing chores in the barns with the horses, and the respect he has learned to have for the horses and the entire upkeep process is awesome! I've seen a big difference in him, almost a maturing, since he began. He loves his riding coach, Mr. Dan, who is so patient, gentle and kind with him! read more
