Cowboy Trail Rides in Summerlin made my daughter's cowgirl themed birthday epic! The horseback ride through Red Rock Canyon was stunning, with calm horses and mules and friendly guides who shared cool facts. The only complaint (if you wanna call it that) is that I would've preferred horses, no mules. The sunset views were unreal. Just a peaceful experience. It got a bit chilly at night (May) but besides that, perfect! The post-ride BBQ dinner--juicy steaks, chicken, and sides--was delicious (and huge portions), and roasting s'mores by the campfire was the perfect touch. This horseback riding was a bit more expensive than many of the others, but I don't regret choosing this on at all. For ~$200, including horseback ride, meal, and the s'mores, this 5-hour adventure was a steal. Highly recommend especially for a memorable birthday!

Trail guide Orion was professional and courteous. Highly recommend him. Answered questions and calmed the anxious riders. Made you feel welcome. Most guides did. Now don't expect to be in charge of the horse (or mule), and don't wear spurs or the young lady head wrangler with the braids will put you in the classroom corner! Ha.

My wife had such a fun time the laat time I booked her on the Sunset Trail Ride and Western BBQ that I decided to book her on the Caynon Rim Ride. Again she had a great time on her horse Tyke on a beautiful morning ride. Staff here is friendly, helpful and attentive and communication is great (they send you a reminder the day before). Definately recommend Cowboy Trail Rides to both visitors and locals.

Are you an adventure seeker? Need some outdoor thrill after spending your hard earned cash at the casinos? Then head on over to Cowboy Trail Rides for an unforgettable experience!! This guided horseback riding tour takes you through a magnificent dessert in the canyon giving you a taste of the wild Wild West. It's perfect for experienced riders and novices, and they provide you with adventure and a horse that's right for you. I got paired with a lovely horse named Sunny! A vibrant and independent one just like me! She took the lead. She made me feel so comfortable and needed no direction at all. I just let her do her thing as we rode through the trail. It was an amazing 2 hour ride through the canyon with some rocky terrain and some breathtaking views of the mountain tops. I really did feel like I was in the wild Wild West. Tours start in the morning all the way until sundown. We went during lunch and it was scorching hot but it was so worth it. Booking the tour was a cinch. Just go online or you can call and speak to the owner directly. They do honor military discounts so you should mention that when booking the tour. Cowboy Trail Rides is an experience you don't want to skip out on when you're visiting Las Vegas. You get adventure, the great outdoors, killer views, and memories added to your bucket list!

It was such a nice experience. I had sunny and she was a good horse. The guide were really nice and they were giving nice tips and tricks. I had a lot of fun

After reading Yelp pal Jenni M.'s review I knew this would be the perfect outing for my horse-crazy friend and I while on a short Vegas vacation. It's about a 40 minute drive from the Strip, out in Red Rock Canyon, a beautiful landscape to enjoy a trail ride. We made reservations online, which is absolutely necessary, and drove out to the ranch at the requested time for the Coyote Canyon ride. They have everyone sign a waiver and then put on a helmet (optional) plus put anything they want to carry into a small saddle bag (make sure you bring a camera or phone for photos). We rode in March so the weather was cool but you might want to bring water and sun protection if you go during the hot summer months. After some preliminary instructions you're assigned a horse or mule and then you're off! This specific ride lasted a little over an hour. It's is a perfect ride for those who are inexperienced on horseback (or in my case, those who haven't ridden in many years). The horses pretty much follow one another; they've traveled these paths many times so pretty much just go on their own. The cowboys and cowgirls who journey with the group are very helpful although some are more personable than others. This is a fun diversion if you're spending time in noisy casinos and crave the subtle sounds of nature or if you are just after a relaxed outdoor activity that involves sitting in a saddle.

Amazing! Great staff, fun ride. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back for another ride.

This was just an awesome experience all around. First when you get there the "cowboys" and "cowgirl" were so friendly. I am hard of hearing and they said it wouldn't be an issue and it wasn't. Mind you I couldn't hear when they were telling the others on the trail information about Red Rock Canyon or anything, but I was completely content with the silence and just took everything in. The ride was peaceful and beautiful, I joined the sunset ride and it was gorgeous . When I did talk to the cowboys and girl they were completely knowledgeable. She picked the horses for everyone and did an amazing job. I got Tyke and he is so sweet and such a great horse. Loved every minute of the ride. After we had a great meal, prepared by a cook. I'm a vegetarian and they had a veggie meal for me, they even made vegetarian baked beans. It was delicious!!!! I asked others who had the steak, chicken or fish and they all really enjoyed the food too. It's huge portions y'all, so come hungry. We finished the night around the campfire, made s'mores and got to chat and get to know the travelers a bit. Overall I had an AMAZING experience. I'd recommend Cowboy Trail Rides to anyone that wants to have a beautiful horseback riding experiences at sunset and a great meal.

This was such a great experience with Denise and Dylan as our tour guides. Being allergic to both cats and dogs I certainly did not grow up around animals - much less horses. At 5 foot one and trying to avoid use of the step up ladder to get on my horse was interesting lol and the staff was so patient and friendly about it. I have never been this close to a horse, so I did not realize just how large of an animal it is. Before pairing you with the horse the question is asked if anyone is nervous, and I immediately shot my hand up and was paired with the lovely Soko. Starting off on the mountains I was certainly nervous because there are small rocks there are large rocks and just all this unstable ground (I mean it's mountains). Denise could obviously sense my nerves were on edge and let me know that the horses basically know their way around and are so familiar with the trail that I had nothing to worry about and when I allowed myself to relax, I realized she was absolutely right. During our journey, I was able to ask a lot of questions about our surroundings, as well as all the unexpected flowers that I saw, and Denise was able to answer every question and identify every flower. What a great experience!

Did the morning trail. It's cold so dress warm. The staff was super nice and friendly. They made sure were always good during the whole ride. It's such a beautiful and peaceful place, Derek was awesome! So worth it. You guys have to check them out.

This was some GREAT FUN!! Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff. These wranglers are very good at what they do, and they listen to you and pay attention to their surroundings at all times. This is a ride with mules and due to the terrain; What a great choice of animal. Mules are very smart and the most surefooted, and can carry more weight than a horse. The terrain was very pretty and not just a flat surface throughout the entirety of the trip. Which was very nice and I really appreciated it. All levels can do this experience, I have quite a bit of experience with horses and riding so for me this was cake. They offer helmets to those who want the extra comfort and safety. But they are not required. What ever you do remember to tip your wranglers! I personally would have loved to have gone for a couple more hours. But I understand that with the level of experience between some riders and cost this was well worth it. I took my daughter but there were full families as well as solo riders. Great experience!

Horse, new adventure, & healthy mind therapy. All in one approx. 1-hour & a 1/2 trail ride (6/8/21)

*** "Move 'em on, head 'em up / Head 'em up, move 'em on / Move 'em on, head 'em up..." *** If you knew those were the lyrics to the theme song to the 1960s TV show "Rawhide," then we could very well be friends. OVERALL Cowboy Trail Rides just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, strikes me as a fantastic place for first-time and inexperienced riders to fulfill their desire for horseback life. My in-laws took my girls and me there on June 8, 2021 for a 11AM trip. ENVIRONMENT Remember, this dusty, hot area is Red Rock Canyon. In June, the (temperature) high is in the upper 90s to low 100s. There's plenty of heat and desert to go around. If you get allergies, don't forget to Flonase before checking in. SERVICE The wranglers seemed to all be on the same page about things. Some a bit more communicative to riders than others. If you have an issue or something doesn't seem right, just holler out to them. MY FAVORITE PART... The Coyote Canyon Ride. It's approximately an hour long. Ours was a bit longer, but for $69 per person, I found the experience to be of great value. And not having to wear a COVID-19 mask was great! Two guys showed up with theirs on and quickly learned that breathing while on horseback was a necessity. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... This place is not without its faults, however, there was nothing that would hold me back from partaking in this adventure again. Not even with our two timid first-time youth riders (ages 7 & 8). Ride 'em, cowgirls! THE RIDE I hadn't ridden a horse since I sold mine when I was a teenager. The scenic Coyote Canyon ride was more moderate than my mother-in-law had described to me. Later she confessed that it was much more advanced than she was told and she might not have put our young ones through it if she had known, but... they loved it! Our girls still talk about the horses they were assigned, telling me things like I hope they are being taken care of and that they wish they could have given theirs a shiny red apple. My oldest got "Blue" - a blue roan currently with his own profile on their website. She was head over heels for him by the end of the ride. My younger daughter rode Mustang Sally, a red roan. My mother-in-law was assigned Red, a mule. I also was assigned a mule... his name was Rascal. Lmao. He was my kind of guy... Path of least resistance... Head-butting my daughters' horses when they slowed down too much... Not wanting to stop when the lazy horses wanted to nibble on the landscape... Lol. Mules are great, steady-stepping workers. Give Rascal a carrot or ten, please. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB Children 7 and older are allowed on the tours. Ages 7-16 are required to wear a riding helmet which they do supply. The smiles on both of our girls' faces was priceless. I go to bed thinking about it. PARKING You'll see a large corral near the highway, but don't stop there. Even cars can manage the road up to and park near the horseback rides area. Clean flushing toliet restrooms are near the stables where you'll be lined up for your assignment. TIPS Wear good sunscreen, jeans, and closed-toe shoes. A nice-fitting hat because it gets windy in the canyons. Bring a small water bottle, sunglasses, and your mobile phone or small camera... you can put them in the saddle bag that you may borrow since bags of ANY kind are not allowed. The wranglers will stop to take photos of your group. | One-Hour Ride: 5 | Service: 5 | Environment: 5 | Price: 5 | Sources: https://www.lyricsondemand.com/tvthemes/rawhidelyrics.html https://www.cowboytrailrides.com/horses IG: @ctr_las_vegas

Las Vegas Overlook Loop…read more Review: In the last 12 months, we completed this hike 2.5 times. Our first time was February 2019 just days after Las Vegas was hit with snow. The challenge then was the cold weather and slippery/icy terrain. We attempted this hike last summer before 7 AM and turned around after 2 miles due to the heat. We just hiked this trail a few days ago and the weather was perfect. This hike is no cupcake, but at the same time, I didn't think it was too difficult. Just keep in mind that the total distance is a little over 6 miles, it will take over 2 hours to complete, the climb is between 1,500-2,000 feet, and 90% of the trail is exposed. If you ever climbed Exploration Peak or Lone Mountain and thought either one was hard, then this hike is NOT for you. I compare this hike to Turtlehead Peak or Gass Peak. The view is awesome!! Stats: According to AllTrails, the total distance is 6.3 miles round-trip, 1,534 ft elevation gain, and rated as "hard". My stats are about the same. The only difference is that my Garmin has the elevation gain a little over 2,000 ft. Location & Tips: I'm unsure where exactly the trailhead starts, but you can park off NV-159 and Fossil Ridge Road or GPS to Cowboy Trail Rides (4053 Fossil Ridge Road, Las Vegas, NV 89161). Due to the Coronvirus and all of the shutdowns, the main parking is currently closed, but you can still park on the side of the road or in front of the parking lot. There is typically an enough space to safely park if you get here early. -Start from the Horseback Riding signage and head down the trail. The stables will be on your left side and as the trail begins to merge right. Take the first trail past the stables on the left. The trail is clearly defined (even in snow) and easy to follow. -Around .75 Miles: You will see two trails; one is leading left and the other is straight. Head straight and from there, you'll reach a few switchbacks. After 4 sets of switchbacks, you'll reach a split. The trail to the left heads to Muffin Ridge and the trail to the right heads towards the overlook. Follow the trail to the overlook. From there, it's another 2 miles to the highest point and the overlook. -The overlook is around the 3-mile mark. Enjoy the view, snap some pics, but be careful. Keep in mind that you're still on top of a mountain. Gravity always wins. -Heading Back: You can either backtrack back to the trailhead or continue on the trail to complete a full loop. Continue the trail and you'll reach the flattest part of the hike. You know you're there when you see the solar panels. Continue to follow the trail to another trail dubbed Bone Shaker Extreme. Follow that trail down and watch your footing. Parts of the trail is rocky, slippery, and potentially, bone shaking dangerous. Follow that trail and eventually, you'll reach the area that leads you back to the trailhead.

Park at the Cowboy Trails horseback rides parking lot off of SR 159 and head towards the horses. Just follow that road until you see a trail to your left and follow it; using the AllTrails app is recommended as there are various little trails there. It's about 2.7 miles to the overlook with gradual elevation gain along the way. You'll know you've arrived when you are greeted by a fantastic view of the Strip and Vegas Valley in front of you. From here, you can turn around and go back the way you came or continue on the trail heading west where you'll eventually face Red Rock. The trail will loop north until you start heading down back down towards the horses. Careful on the descent as there is loose gravel and rocks to navigate. If you do a true loop and not the out and back, it's very easy to get almost 6.5 miles total when you start tracking your mileage from the parking lot. This hike will take the better part of 3-3.5 hours depending on your pace and how much time you want to spend at the overlook enjoying the view. Bring plenty of hydration and snacks to enjoy, but be sure to pick up after yourselves. Happy hiking! #LeaveNoTrace

Not a five star experience for the simple fact that the trail was not clearly marked. I mean, come on, this was created for children. For that matter, snap a photo of the map before you head down the 0.6 mile loop. Other than that, the trail is super easy for active kids. Mine hustled me through it in about 30 minutes. Lol. The elevation does not get incredibly steep, but if you're carrying other children it might get slightly to moderately difficult for a short while. Nothing too dangerous. My kiddos loved walking over the boardwalk, pretending to be mountain lions in a cave-like area, staring up at the colorful rocks, throwing rocks in the dry arroyo, reading some of the trail info, and pretending to slide down a slick bedroom-sized rock formation. I was looking for a good hiking trail that was kid friendly, and I stumbled upon this. It is located in the Red Rock conservation area. There is an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle. We only took one snack break, and our little boy walked most of it (with a little bribery with a lollipop ). The hike has enough shade, so it wasn't too hot. I love how it wasn't too steep, so it wasn't scary for our little one. The hike had enough scenery, and we definitely enjoyed it. I heard there's a small waterfall, and pond, but we weren't able to see it due to it being dried out. Lots of trees and plants for kids to see and enjoy. Just like any hike. Bring a backpack with snacks and water, wear sunscreen, and comfortable shoes and clothing. It is such a super easy hike. We will definitely do this again.

We bought the 1 - 1/2 hour horseback ride and it was the highlight!!! All of the horses were gentle and super easy to navigate . My sister in law had never been on a horse and she had nooo problem . Frosty the guide is a GEM!!! Sooo sweet, fun and knowledgeable!! He truly made it a special ride.

I called Leonora and told her what I wanted to do and she said "I got you" check in with Bones when you get there. There was a change with our guide from Bones to Page but it worked out anyways because both men are great! Page told me where there was a good spot he could take us to, he'd hold on to my horse while I went and did my thing. We got to the spot and while she's still on her horse and taking pictures I went over while Page recorded on my phone and bent the knee. SHE SAID YES!!! We got back to the ranch and they surprised us with champagne to celebrate. It's those extra touches that made this day perfect! Page, you my man gave us not only a great ride with stories and history but you helped us create an incredible memory and we love you for that! The ranch is beautiful and well kept. Everyone we ran into were very nice and helpful. Hanging out with Bones and Page at the end was a plus. Really loved this place, the horses and everyone there. Thank you, you're all invited to the wedding!! Can't wait to go back for more rides!

All day long she was so knowledgeable and answered every question we had, but also so funny while still being professional! My whole group thought that the value of this tour was exceptional. We walked the grounds, took pictures of the Werly family's decades-long collection of toys and decor, watched an action movie clip filmed on the property, then hit the trails. We're a group of experienced dirt bike/quad riders, but Alisha made sure to put some of the guys in their place and let us know that the ATV ride rules are rules, not suggestions. The views were incredible, we ate a delicious lunch by the Colorado river, then headed back for the gold mine tour. Being from the east coast, this part of US history isn't something we're familiar with, and we learned so much! Even though we had a large group, Alisha made a point to have a one-on-one conversation with every single one of us, which made it very special and personal. She was also an incredible photographer! I think we really got the bang for our buck, and i will definitely be recommending this tour - and Alisha by name - to everyone I know who's planning a Vegas trip in the future.

Pride of ownership shows, the place was clean, lots of games and places to take pictures, the bathrooms were cute/clean, the masks were clean, definitely recommend!

Booking is very simple if you visit the libraries website and search horses 4 heroes. Some pros: All of the staff were very nice. The animals were all very nice too. There were porto potties. Some cons: the milking station was pretty gross. I peeked into the bucket of water (that feeds the udders) and there was a slime/sediment in the bottom of the bucket with mosquito larva swimming around. Not sanitary. The bedding for the goats was entirely made of poop. It must have been weeks since it has been cleaned. Not sanitary. I also think it would be nice to have hand sanitizer or a proper hand washing station directly next to the entrance for the goats for this reason in particular. The water the animals (goats and sheep) had to drink also looked cloudy and had a smell. My last complaint is that it was $10 for a horse ride that lasted maybe 2 minutes? I mean I thought for $10 they could ride a BIT longer. Especially because there was no one else waiting. I will still give this business 4 stars because of how friendly and accommodating they were. Please be aware of sanitary conditions and take proper precautions for you and your family.
