I've been to SLC many times for work and pleasure but never had the chance to be on the Great Salt Lake until recently. I was lucky enough to find this boat tour company, and there was a 45 min boat tour leaving about 15 minutes after I arrived at the state park. To get into the Great Salt Lake State Park, the admission is $10. And for this boat tour, it was under $40 for a 45-minute boat tour. It was a beautiful fall day, and it just couldn't have been nicer to be on the water, I loved it. Our tour guide, who was also navigating our pontoon, said that yesterday all the boat tours were canceled due to wind and smoke. SLC has been quite smoky on this visit, and that's from all forest fires around, which made me so sad, really. SLC is a beautiful city, and the mountains are so breathtaking on a clear day. Having so much smoke tarnishes the entire beautiful of the city. This was a really nice ride, and the tour guide had all sorts of fun facts and jokes for us and told us a bit about the salt lake. The water is quite salty, and because of this, you will be able to float nicely on it. I'll have to get into the water next time. Overall, I enjoyed this lake ride immensely and would highly recommend it if you're in SLC. Everyone was friendly working for the company, and pretty laid back. And don't forget to tip your tour guide. You can also ask for a QR Venmo code to tip if you don't have cash. This park is also about 15 min to the airport, so pretty closeby. This is also seasonal for the summer, so make sure you check to see if boat tours are running.

We flew into Salt Lake City, UT and drive to see this beautiful lake. The drive is to the lake is approx 1hr from SLC. The "pink salt lake" in Utah is part of Great Salt Lake, near Stansbury Island. The water gets its vibrant pink color from salt-loving microorganisms like halophilic algae and bacteria that thrive in the lake's high-salinity environment. We went in the fall, he best time to see the most vibrant colors is from late summer to early fall. We didn't get in the water due to various reasons, the odor was not pleasant smelling at all. The drive is just as lovely, keep in mind you are driving on a dirt road for approx 10miles. There are no restrooms near the lake. You will also see Mortons Salt company along the drive. There are three ponds there that you can dive in, the deepest (and warmest of the three) being The Abyss which goes down to 60 feet, and the other ones only being about 20 or so feet deep. Since this base was founded for scuba diving, Bonneville Seabase has gone the extra mile to make the experience optimized for the activity, they have put green house covering over all water areas (to help keep them warm) as well as designed all the "flow" of the base to make things convenient for scuba divers, such as where you hang things, how you walk through it, where you change, where you sit, enter/exit, etc. For what it is, Bonneville Seabase is as good as it gets for a terrestrial scuba diving spot. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is that I would need to go again, as I only went as a scuba certification in the Abyss to 25 feet and I will need to check the other ponds and depths to give it a full review of the experience!

There's a little bit here for everyone: playground for the kids, open grass for laying down a picnic blanket, pavilion for hosting parties, walking paths, and an exercise park to burn some calories (has exercise stations such as pull up bar, sit up bench, etc). The playground is dinosaur themed which they incorporated perfectly into the equipment. The little one loved that! There were benches immediately around the playground so I could sit and watch. There was even a fun little electronic light game that I enjoyed! Pick a game on the sign and then you will jump around the system hitting lights to score points (1-player or 2-player options). If you're looking for a great place to gather with family and friends, get in some good exercise, or just need the kids to burn off some excess energy before dinner, Skyline Nature Park is the place to go!

Night Lights hosts a lantern event at the Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) three times a year. It's about a 45 min drive from SLC. The tickets sell out fast so I would recommend getting on the waitlist as soon as you know you're going to go. https://www.nightlightsevent.com/utah Pro Tip: If you're going to attend this event, keep in mind the following things. -Bring portable outdoor chairs and blankets. It's going to be a bit of a wait before the lanterns launch and you'll need to pick a spot in the crowd to set up a mini camp. Outside food and drinks are not allowed but they do have food trucks and s'mores kits onsite. -Group Setting. It's better to attend this event in a group (2+ or more) if you plan on lighting the lanterns. It's possible to light it yourself but it's quite a challenge if there are strong winds. -Dress accordingly to the weather and bring insect repellent. Depending on the area, there could be swarms of mosquitos and gnats. It will start off hot in the day but can get colder throughout the night. Some people will bring outdoor blankets. -Arrive early. Plan to arrive two hours early before the lanterns are lit up. This allows you to pick a spot to camp and get dinner from the various food trucks. -Central Location. When setting up camp, I would reccomend being somewhere in the middle of the lantern lighting area to maximize light impact. If you're located on the edges, then your pictures won't turn out as well in comparison to being in the middle. Even though your pictures will turn out better, you're also more at risk of breathing in the fire pit smoke and getting hit by the lanterns that are released by other groups. TL;DR (Beware) Central location = Better pictures, greater risk of breathing in black smoke and getting hit by fire-lit lanterns. -Dirty and Black Smoke. For those with asthma or sensitivity to smoke, I would highly recommend to skip this event. Night Lights sell "s'mores kits" which comes with a fire pit, a bag of marshmallows, box of Graham crackers, and skewers. These fire pits are fun BUT cause a lot of smoke in the area and can make it hard to breathe for some people. (See attached picture) -Allow the lantern to completely fill up with air before letting it go. There were soooo many people who released their lanterns too early and the lanterns ended up floating on the ground and almost burning people. I'm pretty certain some people may have actually gotten burnt but fortunately my group didn't get impacted and there was medical staff on-site. Overall, the pictures are memorable and the event turned out fun. I would recommend attending it at least once in your lifetime. Would you go? Let me know.
