Horton's is a locally owned, small town, home and garden store filled with wonderful upscale home decor, gifts and boutique-type clothing. The merchandise is mostly trendy farmhouse style, displayed with a mix of lovely antiques. Horton's is popular in the town of Tipton, having served the community since 1976 and makes a great girl's weekend shopping visit. The store is large, separated by vignettes of various themes. There is a small area of children's books and gifts, a larger area of women's clothing, a candy counter with an amazing selection of fudge and chocolates, house plant supplies and seasonal home decor. I was fascinated by the Victorian-era antiques, but most are not for sale, just display. Prices are on the high side, but inline with an upscale boutique. It's that time of year! Time to plant those flowers or veggies you've been wanting to plant and Horton's has them all. They come from excellent greenhouses so they get a great start and look fresh when you get them! The ferns and flowers to choose from are a plenty! Just come and see for yourself! You pay just a little more for these plants but they will not be found wilted. These plants are well cared for and will last all summer long if you continue with the care they were given! There's something about shopping in rural Indiana that is unlike the experience in malls or box stores. Sure, you get a lot of variety in those places, but it doesn't feel the same as what you see in a shop like Horton's. The place has a lot space that has been arranged into different shoppes, but you can pay for it all at one place. The former lawn and garden center still has some items for those needs, but it also has a home decor area, a ladies boutique, an area for making blinds, a bit of hardware/paint, and a fudge shop! I admire their effort to provide one stop shopping for customers in a place that doesn't have large malls or box stores downtown. The staff was very friendly which I also like. After finding some flag poles that I needed to replace on my home, I had to sample the fudge counter options. They have their own machine that makes excellent quality (i.e. creamy) fudge that doesn't taste gritty like some other fudges I've tried. They have a wide assortment of flavors and I ended up grabbing a couple: The peanut butter/chocolate two layered fudge and the Snickers which has a bit of caramel in the middle for a change of texture from the creamy fudge. Hortons is now charging 3.9% on all credit or debit card charges. They also posted a sign in the store saying they don't accept returns. Where has their customer service gone? Per credit card companies, and probably there credit card issuing bank - it is illegal to charge customers any additional charges. The only exception is the government. They need a better banker as well as accountant. What a terrible way to start their holiday season.. read more

This store is genuinely adorable! The guy goes to Waco Texas to get a lot of his things. Stuff like you see Joanna Gaines has . Prices are a little high but boutique prices are always kind of high. His daughter makes some of the jewelry from what I understand so that makes it very unique. Lots of unique things! The owner is very nice, he lets you try fudge and he was probably one of the nicest people so far in Tipton! Not everyone in Tipton is so kind to outsiders but he was!
