    Making my transition easy!

Everything was very professional from beginning to end. Marty spoke with me on the phone and set up my move. She gave me a quote that was the price I paid at the end with no hidden fees. Bill and Phil were excellent. Very nice guys and thoughtful about all things in the moving process. Very trustworthy.

The damage report JMM documented, but NEVER followed up on.

Wow, where do I start? We had moved with them three years earlier and the move went fairly smoothly. But this time.... oh, where do I start? When we called the office to schedule, we mentioned that they had moved us 3 years earlier. They said "oh yes, you get our return customer discount", but then when we started talking about the property and the quote, they said that their files were off in archive somewhere and they didn't have any information on our previous move. We got a date scheduled and the quote was $1,200 for 7.5 hours on a Saturday for 2 trucks and 3 guys. We mentioned that we had gotten rid of quite a bit of furniture, including a dining set for 8, so we would definitely have less items on this move than we had on the last. But the quote stayed at that amount. That seemed a little steep, but we trusted them. The guys arrived and there was a strong smell of smoke that permeated the house during the move. They had 1 leader, 1 experienced person, 1 rookie, and a brand new guy who didn't really do much except stand around and wait for instruction. He also grabbed a heavy piece and drug it across the wood floor! NO! I said "Stop! You are scratching the floor!" Everything was loaded in just a couple of hours and it didn't even fill one truck. The leader said something about sending the other truck back because it wasn't needed and it was a waste of money. Apparently the office told him to keep it because both trucks showed up at the new house. The forecast called for rain so we were surprised to find that none of our furniture had been protected and they had no way to shield it from the rain while bringing it in. Rain soaked everything, including our leather sofa that they had not protected. The only things saved from the rain were the mattresses, but that is only because we had covered them in plastic mattress moving bags from Home Depot before the guys arrived. In addition to soaking a leather couch, they dropped an expensive file cabinet off the back of the truck and it crashed down in our lawn! It was all dented up and covered in grass. A $400 HON lateral cabinet! They tried to pretend it was OK. But the cabinet was clearly damaged and our files were getting soaked. We pulled everything out and they tried to set it on our carpet. Grass, muddy water, and all! They said they would take it and get it repaired. The guys also dripped muddy water on our brand new carpet and we had to have it cleaned. The leader wrote down the damaged items and promised that Ann would call us Monday (the next business day). He promised that everything would be fixed soon. So we stupidly went ahead and paid in full. HUGE MISTAKE - DO NOT PAY THEM IF ANYTHING IS WRONG. We waited and waited, but Ann never called. We tried calling them several times, but they don't actually answer the phone. You just leave a message and they are supposed to call you back. I also tried contacting them via their web site form. Nothing. We have a damaged couch and no file cabinet. They have our file cabinet. According to law, since we paid them for the move, ALL of our possessions must be given to us within 14 days of payment. So they are now in violation of law. We have filed with the Attorney General. In the end, the guys were only there 4.5 hours, not 7.5, yet we were charged almost $1,000. I fail to see how 3 less hours of work warrants only $200 less in fees. Attached is a picture providing the proof of when they documented who damaged the items and what the items were (this is the leader's notebook). Be careful and look at the reviews on other sites. If I had seen the Google review that had a story similar to mine, I definitely would have thought twice about booking them.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. We hired My Movers Inc. for an interstate move (about 12 hours away.) After a short phone call, they responded with a rough estimate based on the size of our home the following morning, which was a great response time. They scheduled an in-person walkthrough that week, showed up on time, and had an itemized, specific estimate by the end of it. We were able to schedule the move then and there, and were given guidelines on how to pack our things for the move and what wasn't allowed (e.g. liquids, fragile loose items, etc.) on the truck. Movers showed up right on schedule and cleared our packed belongings and furniture in under 2 hours. Similar story for unloading: they arrived right on time, and got all our stuff off the truck in 2 hours. Even though we didn't have a ton of stuff, I was impressed with how quickly they were able to load and unload. Everyone we interacted with throughout the process was friendly and polite. We ultimately came in slightly under the original estimate, which may not always be the case, but I appreciate when a business estimates high. Pleasant surprises are always better than unpleasant ones. :)

I got no reply from Pete so I called, left voice and text messages several times. When Pete finally did answer his phone today, the day before the move, and I said lets sync up on details, especially arrival time Pete informed me he had gotten too busy and he has decided he was not going to do the job he agreed with me to do. When I asked at what point did he intend to let me know, he just apologized. Pete's apology does not change that fact that I am in a bind now because of him. No communication from this guy, until he finally answered his phone one day prior to the agreed move date. Pete has left me with a big problem. Pete knew I traveled from out-of-state to be available for this move and Pete didn't have the decency to at least let me know he was going skip out like that. Also of note, Pete does not answer his phone with "Northside Moving" or similar, just "hello". In retrospect, the signs were there; I just didn't read them correctly. I hope you don't make the same mistake or reward this type of business practice/customer service.

We paid a very large amount for this service and also paid extra for their insurance coverage specifically to protect our valuables. During the packing process, they broke several items worth thousands of dollars. When we filed a claim, instead of taking responsibility or honoring the insurance we paid for, the owner was rude, dismissive, and outright hostile. We were essentially told "too bad, you should've packed it yourself," and "if you didn't want it broken, you shouldn't have hired us." That is completely unacceptable, especially from a business that charges for professional packing and insurance. Not only did they fail to protect our belongings, but they also refused to fairly address the damage and spoke to us in a shockingly unprofessional and offensive way. We trusted them during an already stressful time after a flood, and they made the situation much worse. I strongly warn others: do not use this company if you care about your property or expect basic professionalism and accountability. Paying extra for their insurance meant nothing, and the way we were treated afterward was insulting and outrageous.

About 4 hours into the re-delivery of our belongings by their crew, we discovered that much of our furniture and personal property which had already brought into our new home appeared to be covered in mold. The contamination affected our brand-new home and required professional remediation. As a result, we were displaced and forced to live in a hotel for 50 nights while the issue was addressed. The owner, John Craft, acknowledged to us that our belongings had gotten wet and remained on their moving trucks for a period of time during the hot and humid month of June. Despite assurances from the company's insurance carrier, we have received very little communication or resolution. More than seven months later, we still do not have our belongings and have had to retain legal counsel to pursue claims against both Soft Touch Moving and the insurance company. This experience has been incredibly disruptive to our lives. Based on our experience, we would strongly caution others before trusting this company with their belongings.

However, I kept getting ads for U-Pack and decided to get a quote. TLDR - I am SO happy I went with this service as the process was transparent, simple, and convenient. I had about a studio apartment's worth of furniture in a 5x10 storage unit. The U-Pack team in Indy helped accommodate me and where the cube could be placed at my storage facility. The person who dropped off the cube was communicative, clear, and provided helpful advice for packing. One thing I did not realize I would need is LOTS of bungee cords and ratchet straps to hold things down, so be sure to have plenty on hand before your cube arrives. During the move, I checked the "moving dashboard" (the online portal that includes all the details of your move) religiously. It always had up-to-date information about where my cube was, which helped ease my anxiety about the move progress. My cube was picked up on a Wednesday in Indiana, and arrived the next Friday morning in California, which was right in the middle of my estimated time block (which was 5-7 business days). The movers who dropped it off were equally courteous and helpful, as I was putting my cube on the street. If you are moving to a city/area without a driveway, be sure to get all of the proper legal clearance to park your cube. I applied for a temporary no-parking permit for week to accommodate the cube if it arrived early or late. Some other tips: I cannot overstate how important it is to CALL the U-Pack customer service line for a quote/arrangements, as the online quote tool will shoot way above what your actual price will be. Secondly, the online dashboard and the ability to change details about your move online is very convenient and useful. I changed the drop-off time several times and it was always updated instantaneously. All in all, this service was seamless and helped me as a first time mover, and everyone from on-the-phone customer service reps to ABF Freight movers were exceptionally kind and helpful. I will absolutely use this service again and recommend to all.
