    Making my transition easy!

Everything was very professional from beginning to end. Marty spoke with me on the phone and set up my move. She gave me a quote that was the price I paid at the end with no hidden fees. Bill and Phil were excellent. Very nice guys and thoughtful about all things in the moving process. Very trustworthy.

The damage report JMM documented, but NEVER followed up on.

Wow, where do I start? We had moved with them three years earlier and the move went fairly smoothly. But this time.... oh, where do I start? When we called the office to schedule, we mentioned that they had moved us 3 years earlier. They said "oh yes, you get our return customer discount", but then when we started talking about the property and the quote, they said that their files were off in archive somewhere and they didn't have any information on our previous move. We got a date scheduled and the quote was $1,200 for 7.5 hours on a Saturday for 2 trucks and 3 guys. We mentioned that we had gotten rid of quite a bit of furniture, including a dining set for 8, so we would definitely have less items on this move than we had on the last. But the quote stayed at that amount. That seemed a little steep, but we trusted them. The guys arrived and there was a strong smell of smoke that permeated the house during the move. They had 1 leader, 1 experienced person, 1 rookie, and a brand new guy who didn't really do much except stand around and wait for instruction. He also grabbed a heavy piece and drug it across the wood floor! NO! I said "Stop! You are scratching the floor!" Everything was loaded in just a couple of hours and it didn't even fill one truck. The leader said something about sending the other truck back because it wasn't needed and it was a waste of money. Apparently the office told him to keep it because both trucks showed up at the new house. The forecast called for rain so we were surprised to find that none of our furniture had been protected and they had no way to shield it from the rain while bringing it in. Rain soaked everything, including our leather sofa that they had not protected. The only things saved from the rain were the mattresses, but that is only because we had covered them in plastic mattress moving bags from Home Depot before the guys arrived. In addition to soaking a leather couch, they dropped an expensive file cabinet off the back of the truck and it crashed down in our lawn! It was all dented up and covered in grass. A $400 HON lateral cabinet! They tried to pretend it was OK. But the cabinet was clearly damaged and our files were getting soaked. We pulled everything out and they tried to set it on our carpet. Grass, muddy water, and all! They said they would take it and get it repaired. The guys also dripped muddy water on our brand new carpet and we had to have it cleaned. The leader wrote down the damaged items and promised that Ann would call us Monday (the next business day). He promised that everything would be fixed soon. So we stupidly went ahead and paid in full. HUGE MISTAKE - DO NOT PAY THEM IF ANYTHING IS WRONG. We waited and waited, but Ann never called. We tried calling them several times, but they don't actually answer the phone. You just leave a message and they are supposed to call you back. I also tried contacting them via their web site form. Nothing. We have a damaged couch and no file cabinet. They have our file cabinet. According to law, since we paid them for the move, ALL of our possessions must be given to us within 14 days of payment. So they are now in violation of law. We have filed with the Attorney General. In the end, the guys were only there 4.5 hours, not 7.5, yet we were charged almost $1,000. I fail to see how 3 less hours of work warrants only $200 less in fees. Attached is a picture providing the proof of when they documented who damaged the items and what the items were (this is the leader's notebook). Be careful and look at the reviews on other sites. If I had seen the Google review that had a story similar to mine, I definitely would have thought twice about booking them.

About 4 hours into the re-delivery of our belongings by their crew, we discovered that much of our furniture and personal property which had already brought into our new home appeared to be covered in mold. The contamination affected our brand-new home and required professional remediation. As a result, we were displaced and forced to live in a hotel for 50 nights while the issue was addressed. The owner, John Craft, acknowledged to us that our belongings had gotten wet and remained on their moving trucks for a period of time during the hot and humid month of June. Despite assurances from the company's insurance carrier, we have received very little communication or resolution. More than seven months later, we still do not have our belongings and have had to retain legal counsel to pursue claims against both Soft Touch Moving and the insurance company. This experience has been incredibly disruptive to our lives. Based on our experience, we would strongly caution others before trusting this company with their belongings.

The total cost came out to the low end of my estimate which was great. All 3 movers were courteous and let me know of 1 minor nick they had caused. The movers were genuinely grateful for their tips and kept their truck relatively neat. I called a couple times before the move to ask questions, and the staff was willing to talk through logistics any time.

The contracted independent movers were also inconvenienced for the same. Both myself ( client) and contracted movers were taken advantage of due to poor scheduling---two moves scheduled at same time and I sat waiting for 3 hours until my movers showed. I lost $ for work (my job) and timing/money planned to vacate the apartment because of the lease agreement. The independent movers were told " It's fine guys, go to the other job because she isn't going anywhere". They went to Beech grove from Castleton and onto Bloomington. Called me to tell me the situation instead of leadership owning it. Apparently this is common and they said that this was their last job with this company. I even called the day before to even see if i could delay a day because I was feeling stressed to get back into town, but was told it would be $170 to change. So I showed up and they didn't. My father passed away ten days prior and all of this has been incredibly unacceptable duress. Talked with the owner who said he would make it right. Hardly. His discount was a joke and part of the plan I think to double book for profit and eat discount regularly. Bad business.

I prefer not give Safari Movers even one star. They are a complete scam and the owner Kenny Tucker…read moreis an extortionist. They gave us a quote for 2 hours ($400) to move a one bedroom apartment which was already completely packed and boxed up. The movers also commented "this was the most packed up apartment they had ever moved". They were supposed to show up at noon. They arrived at 1:30pm in an unlabeled truck. The owner Kenny told me they clocked in at 1330 and out at 2130. What they did between those hours is a mystery. Kenny told me it took the 3 guys five hours to load the truck, claimed their tools were stolen while parked and they needed purchase new tools. They also took lunch. Kenny gave me 3 different lunch break times( 1 hr, 40 and 30 minutes). The new location was 12 miles away. They arrived at the drop off residence at 1900. I was told it took them 60 minutes to travel the 12 miles. The crew reported they were lost and went to the wrong neighborhood. It took them 90 minutes to unload the truck. So I was initially charged for 8 hours. Obviously way overcharged to move a one bedroom apartment. I told him there was no way I was gong to pay the cost of this small move, almost $2,000 when initially quoted $400. He told me he could not pay his employees and he told them to come back to my son's house and demand the money. They waited in front of his house until I paid. He was frightened and felt threatened. Kenny told me he would take off 2.5 hours and only charge me for 5 hours and went on about how much work they did. I asked him several times to send me the invoice, which he never sent because his "phone froze". Eventually I paid him $1090.00 for 5 hours which was still outrageous. But given my son felt threatened, I had no choice. The team did do a great job and worked hard. They however lied about their tools being stolen and inaccuracy of their time. I beg you not to ever do business with this company or Kenny Tucker. He is dishonest and threatening. I have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the local police department for extortion.
