UPDATE: I wouldn't have noticed had it not been that I just saw a like for the updated review I left back in 2019 in response to the review I posted back in 2018 warning people to take witnesses when going to an appointment because what you present and what gets said under oath will be 2 totally different stories. Came to Dr. Kim's office for my shoulder pain and was very impressed with him and his office. Maria at the front office was so polite and Dr Kim took his time in examining and educating me on my condition. He wasn't quick to prescribe me medication and explained how physical therapy can improve my shoulder symptoms. I attended physical therapy next door for about 8 sessions and I am better and stronger than before. Doctor Kim has treated my husband for tennis elbow, my daughter for a broken toe and a knee issue, and myself for a foot problem. He also did a hip and knee replacement for my uncle. We all have been happy with our care and have enjoyed getting to know Dr. Kim. I really like that when I needed to get in right away for my daughter's broken toe, I was able to get in right away, X-ray done in his office, wrapped up and out in about an hour. It was 100x better than going to urgent care. I also like that he has a physical therapist he shares a building with which is great. The physical therapy office is somewhat small so you really get to know the PT, techs and other staff. The energy is great. I see there are some bad reviews on here from years ago. Not everyone is going to be happy. If they are seeking help with a problem they are likely in pain or stressed and they lashed out. read more

Instead of wanting to help, he just criticizes and disregards any commentary that I had to say. Just hearing his name again makes me furious at the treatment that I received that day. I took my aunt to see Dr. Kim for her knee pain and I immediately had to write a review after she eventually had surgery. I do not have any social media accounts and just use Yelp to look at pictures of food, but I was so impressed and in awe of Dr. Kim's bedside manners, professionalism, knowledge and subtle humor that I am writing this. Dr. Kim took his time and actually cared for my aunt which was so heartwarming. He performed a total knee replacement and let me tell you that she was up and walking the same day, with a walker of course, but she only complained of very minimal pain and her scar from the incision look AMAZING! I highly, highly recommend Dr. Kim for any orthopedic issue. You will not be disappointed. I initially took my Dr. to a large orthopedic group and we literally felt like another paycheck to the orthopedist and were ushered out in literally 3 minutes. Is was not the case with Dr. Kim. I have been with Dr Kim through three different surgeries including one through workman's comp. he has supported me and provided positive direction. The outcome has always been positive. This doctor is not a YES MAN. He is by far the best orthopedic surgeon I have ever had to deal with. He calls it the way he sees it. It's so nice he kept his private practice and didn't sell out to PIH or Kaiser. His rehab facility is under the same roof he practices and I can't begin to tell you how important that is. He has replaced both of my knees. The scar in the first knee is barely visible, it was done 3 1/2 years ago and I have unbelievable range of motion with it. The second one was done 4 days ago and I am already walking with very low pain and extreme smoothness. This is a doctor who puts a lot of pride into his work. Thank you doctor! read more

Took my mom in for an examination for her back pain. I have never met such a cocky person in my life before Dr. Kim walked into the examination room. I don't think he was having a bad day or anything but it was clearly his character. He didn't want to listen to the patient and had expression of " my time is too valuable so hurry up and cut to the chase" on his face. He started off with very cocky attitude and told my mom to only answer to his questions. Of course we are not asking any doctors to chit chat with the patient but I believe in order to treat the patient, doctor needs to listen to the patient to determine what and how he could provide treatment. Anyhow, there are many good, friendly, sincere and pleasant orthopedists in town so don't go this doctor and be intimidated and waste time. Terrible experience . read more

Awesome doctor. I've had wrist pain for 3 years now and I finally came to see someone. I figured it was work and too much typing. He said I have an extra piece of bone that could be making things worse. Said I might need surgery but tied a wrist brace for sleeping. He knows what he's talking about. I'm not sure why some of these reviews are so crazy. The doctor was super nice and we talked a little about personal things. The office ladies were very nice and friendly too. I was experiencing a lot of pain in my right shoulder. After weeks of suffering, I decided to see an Orthopedic. Dr. Kim's assistant worked me in at the last minute just before leaving on vacation. it's a zero star.I don't usually write yelp reviews, but this time I HAD to because this doctor is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Please please!! Don't waste your time here. I wouldn't write this review, if Dr. Kim was just mediocre, but he's is the absolute WORST. My mom broke her wrist and visited Dr. Kim. Just simply to put in words, he is very arrogant, rude, ignorant, condescending, and inconsiderate. He was taking advantage of my mom by putting a cast on every visit (didn't even bother to take an X-ray and she wasn't ready to take her cast off numerous times). When my mom FINALLY questioned his consultation, he rudely and condescendingly reply saying that she doesn't know what's she's talking about. Yes, granted he's a doctor, but this doesn't mean he is going to be right ALL THE TIME. Certainly AT THE VERY LEAST, he needs to give a reasonable explanation as to why he's treating her in that way. Which in our case, he simply didn't even bother to explain her. My mom is a middle-age woman, who is not physically active and on the weak side. And he insisted to do a physical therapy (which he gladly charged $150/ session) when her wrist was not even close to being fully healed. My mom CANNOT physically take any aggressive treatment. And she refused to do a physical therapy and he didn't take any of her opinion into his consideration. Also, he didn't even give a REASONABLE EXPLANATION of why he took this approach and if there is any other way to go about it. I think the patient has a right to know why the doctor is giving certain type of treatments..etc,. Being a doctor doesn't mean you can be a TYRANT. I have much worst things to say about in this review, but I am not going to because I want to make this review appropriate. But this was the worst experience we had with doctor. Dr. Kim is just as horrible as his other reviews indicate. I've seen him on and off over the last several years, and there was a time that I respected him and valued his opinion; I even thought he was a nice guy. Recently, however, his actions have drastically changed my perception of him. For more than a decade, I had had severe pain in my shoulder blades, which his treatment did not alleviate, so last year I decided that I wanted to try trigger-point injections, which he does not do. I contacted a pain management specialist in Whittier who does do injections; however, the pain management specialist requires a referral from another doctor in order to be seen, so I made an appointment with Dr. Kim to get a referral, and he apparently had his feelings hurt over it, which I only discovered today when I called to make an appointment about an entirely different matter; apparently my file had been flagged, and his office staff told me that he is choosing not to be my doctor anymore because I am trying to "dictate" my own treatment. The only words I could think to say to her were, "Wow. What an ass. I didn't realize he was that pretentious." A few years back, my husband went to see him regarding back pain, and he never went back because he thought Dr. Kim was "creepy" and unprofessional. At this point, I agree. read more
