I have quite a few conditions and she is good at managing them by ordering blood work at appropriate intervals. The blood work can be done there as they have labs on site. The nurses are quite good at that, can even get blood from me which is difficult for many! (They taught me the term for someone hard to get blood from is "hard stick" ) The office is always quite busy, but they dont massively double book like some doctors, so the wait times are not too bad, like max 20 min after scheduled time. They are quick to respond to pharmacy requests about refills which I appreciate. The front desk staff is couteous and seems to know what they are doing. The only thing is you have to check their hours when calling for appointment, as if they are not there it goes to a machined with no option to leave a message in the make an appointment options. It made me feel like she really cares. Everyone at the office is extremely efficient; they always get back to me within 24 hours if I leave a message. FYI: they don't draw blood at the office for fasting labs so don't come in hangry for your annual check up. That was when I found Dr. Marisse so I booked an appointment. I found her originally on Zocdoc and the nearest appointment was in a month and a half. Within a day of making the appointment, I was called by the office to Nurse Shawna who wanted to make sure that I knew that all appointments needed a preliminary chat with the Doc, after which I could book my appointment. thanked me for letting her know that the next available appointment was that far away. It turned out there was a mix-up and that she did have more immediate appointments available. There is plenty of parking, as it is in shared parking lot with other businesses. However, there are two buildings with the same building number but with different locale numbers. Upper Echelon is in the building nearest to the AAA and the Farmer Boys. At the appointment, everything was clearly explained and we went over a sort of plan of attack, with regards to my concerns and what I needed to do. I appreciated paying less per month for the membership, which includes as many appointments as you want. The lab work and the tests are at wholesale prices so even with the membership fee and registration, all of this was cheaper than the plan I was going to get with insurance. What I appreciated was the quickness of getting an appointment. I have always hated waiting a few weeks, as a new patient, before actually being seen but I was able to book this within a week of the appointment. It was a week because their availability interfered with my work hours. Otherwise, I would have been seen earlier. All in all, it is pretty convenient and a wallet-friendly option. After that first appointment and the lab results came in, Dr. Marisse wrote a VERY long email detailing every point of concern. Which I appreciated because I went for answers and I was getting them. If you need a straightforward person to tell you what you need to be doing and not someone who has to be on your ass every step of the way, this is the ideal option. I would say the ONLY con is that they do not have appointments during the weekends. And since I work during the week, I have to take time off to go to an appointment.

Found out that I had gallstones blocking and hindering and surgery alone took another 3-4 months. One day, I verbally expressed to him that I felt like he spent very little time with patients, and he lost his patience and became super furious saying that he felt insulted. His staff is also great as they are responsive on the phone and fill prescriptions quickly - sometimes while I'm still sitting in the office so that they're ready for pick up at CVS down the road after my appointments. He also went the extra mile in getting a prior authorization for meds approved from my insurance, who have been very challenging to deal with to say the least. If you're looking for a competent and reliable GP in North OC, give Dr. Kaw a call.
