I didn't get to try the food. First thing you need to know is this is not a "Deli", it's a bar. A loud one! There is no quiet place to sit and eat here. I had to yell to the bartender to please give me a menu. There was a group of drunk women at a table behind me, acting a fool. Just not my type of place. I heard the food was amazing, so I went to try it. But I had to just leave. Ordered from uber eats blindly never hearing of this place and was only 2 miles away. Best uber eats of my life!! We got 2 burgers. The portions are HUGE. The name is deceiving. They do have sandwiches but this is not your typical deli to get sandwiches. It's a bar and restaurant. Was slightly confused upon entering but thankfully a worker realized that and assisted us. You walk right in to a bar. They have 4 pool tables plus an outside area to smoke. When I fly to Newport News, the first place I stop is at Hoss' deli to get me some seafood. It is always hot, the service is fine, and I just love the prices (especially compared to the SF Bay Area). I sometimes get a grilled hooker plate, sometimes I get a three way combo as I love their fried clams. IMO, these clams are the best I have had in VA. I keep looking for better ones, but at other places they come up short. I have never been to Hooker Night, which is on Wednesdays; the hooker plate is 50% off. Some day I will take advantage of 50% off seafood. They have a full bar. The reputation is that of a biker bar, but to me, from what I have seen, this just means there are bikes in the back parking lot. I have never seen any colors, and everyone seems like normal Joes. Yes, there are always more men in here than women, but I have never had a problem here. If you like to play pool, there are some bar sized pool tables to play on. Don't think you will get an excellent table, but you will get a table worth the quarters you put into it. It is fun to play pool while having a beer and some fried clams.
