Smitty's has been around for a minute, specializing in traditional fast food: burgers, fries, hot dogs, onion rings, etc. The ambiance reminded me of those 50's style drive up food places where a waitress on roller skates would bring your food out on a tray and hook it on your car window for you to enjoy on the lot! We pulled into the lot and we saw folks eating in their cars. I got out to go in to place an order when I saw a sign on the door that said "staff only" and realized that you stay IN your car the the wait staff will come to your car to take your order! We were greeted by a pleasant young lady and she took our order: double cheeseburger with fries and a side order of battered onion rings. After taking our order, she placed a pink tag on our windshield. Our order was done in no time. When the young lady brought it to us, we paid her then. She had a traditional metal change dispenser on her waist too! The burger was SO good: the bun was fresh, the burger good with melted cheese and fried onions. The fries were crispy and fresh. The battered onion rings were SO good: whole onion slices surrounded in a nice crispy, non-greasy batter. All in all, I'm so glad we finally stopped by Smitty's. It has definitely made it to our go to list of food places to visit while in the area.

The place was fairly full at about 11:00 AM, but we still received our hot meals in maybe 10 minutes. I highly recommend this Smithfield location. FUN FACT: Did you know that more than 60 percent of new restaurants fail within the first year of being open? (Google it.) Often, the main reason new restaurants fail is primarily because of location. I'd like to think that the owner was the gentleman with the ungodly hands and in that case generally the owner lacks self-awareness that he has no business actually being at that location. This area has grown and converted to a more complex and upbeat town; with NNS employees foot traffic comes a price tag and it shouldn't be to the ER due to lack of superb personal hygiene. I went through the drive-through and ordered a quart of barbecue that was $38 and the menu did not say anything about it being sauced. Got home and found out it already has the most disgustingly sweet sauce on it. One bite is all it took to know that I would not be eating any more of it. . I like a Carolina style sauce, vinegar and peppers or a mustard sauce not pure sugar. Their barbecue is in the absolute sweetest sauce I have ever tasted. I had several people try the barbecue that I bought and each one said that it was nothing special and they would never pay $38 for a quart. I was also hoping that they had smoked turkey because I wanted to order some of that for my mother, but they don't have smoked turkey on the menu. I don't really see a reason for me to go back. I can't really comment on service as I went through the drive-through but when I asked for sauce, they could have told me there was sauce already on the barbecue and then I would've addressed that issue then.
