Quiet little place in a strip mall so it's easy to miss, but the food was good. The burger was recommended by our server and glad I listened. The Mac n cheese bowls are huge however make sure you read the description the Mac bowl had a little kick to it (I think he had a bbq or Sriracha added to it for flavor.

The service here was amazing! Our server was very nice and made a really good drink when I wasn't sure what I wanted! Food was to die for. Chef Aaron was amazing and even talked to us for a few. I don't think I've ever had a burger that tasted this good! Also definitely get the pork belly and pretzel bites. I got the steakhouse burger and like I said was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere gives very high end but not with the high end prices and the music is pretty good and not to loud to where you can't have a conversation. 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone I know!

Sophia and I headed here for lunch. They opened up shop months ago at the former Barking Dog. Lucky for us, there was only one other table occupied so service was easy. Inside, the decor is beautiful. Two flat screens are on the left side of the wall and they had music, both current and past, blasting on the speakers. I didn't get a good look at the bar, but it appeared spotless with drinks on display. Within a few minutes, we were ready to order. No apps for us so we went straight to the main course. I selected the Bourbon Bacon Jam burger which came with smoked gouda cheese, bourbon bacon ham, homemade pickles and garlic aioli with the burger slightly pink (Sophia ordered the Old Fashioned). Both of our burgers came with homemade chips. The burger was good. Each ingredient worked well with every bite. I don't know which was better: the pickles or bacon jam. As far as temp goes, half the burger did look pink (which was on the medium well side), but that's the way I like burgers and steaks. My only negative is their chips weren't seasoned, but other than that, the meal was good. Unfortunately, there is a reason why the rating is at 4 stars. Even though we both liked our meal, the food seemed to be overpriced. At $17/18 per burger, you would expect the food to be mind blowing and the best thing ever put together. Don't get me wrong we both came out satisfied with the product, but the price was a bit steep compared to other places in the area. Maybe because the restaurant has bourbon both in food and drinks, but that could scare a few customers away. Overall, it was a very good stop with top notch service and food, but I do worry if the prices could hurt the business in the long run. Hopefully I'm in the wrong.

Great spot my friend and I came across by accident! Great drinks, food and service. We didn't know what to order but the bartender knew exactly what we would like since we didn't drink bourbon before. The drink was light and refreshing without being too harsh as we expected. Great choice! Their food was simple but great. They make their own potato chips that were crisp and seasoned! Plenty of parking too. Not large enough to support large groups but definitely a good size for a few detox get together.

Back for my second dinner! The burgers are so tasty -- and specialty! You're not forced into the traditional toppings here. I've had the coffeehouse and the Mediterranean! Both at excellent! Juicy, flavorful and overall so tasty! They have other options beyond bourbon or beer!

Stoped for a quick bite and to try their bourbons. I wasn't too impressed by the steak bites but the sauce was great. The pork belly bites were delicious and used the steak sauce with that! The burger was also okay. The drinks were good but honestly would've been better if I knew exactly what they were serving. They had a food menu but all the drinks are written on little blackboards above the bar. I didn't feel like getting up and leaving my table to read the whole drinks menu. They should just provide another menu. Decor is interesting - it's supposed to give off a dark cozy vibe with black walls and fire on the tv screens. But it's a pretty open space concept with large windows for light. So it's cozy to your right, sunshine to your left.

Absolutely phenomenal! You walk in and think this is just gonna be a bar with ok food, but that is not the case here! I got the queso dip burger and it was the best burger I've ever had! The meat is seasoned so well, which is so rare at a restaurant. The queso was delicious. Their homemade chips, amazing! Even the kids burger was delicious!! My ONLY critique would be the steak bites. They were good, but I wish the seasoning was more impactful. Service was also great! Highly recommend this place! Also if you like bourbon, they have flights and special cocktails. Very unique.

After the server missing our burger out of our order, the manager was very apologetic and gave my husband a $20 gift card after he had to go back for my Top Shelf burger. Thank you for making it right!

A burger with bourbon is always a winning combination - this hidden little tavern in the "Poquoson Farm Fresh Shopping Center" offers a good variety of both. I tried a Barrel Proof Burger with their home made chips, both were deliciously fresh and flavorful. The service was great... both fast and friendly. I did not try a bourbon although their selection was quite large and other options were also available. The atmosphere was pleasant, dark and moody. It's very small and I imagine it fills up fast at times, the website states they're not taking reservations at this time. I was there for dinner on a Monday night, the bar was full but a couple tables still available. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday for dining but open 7 days a week in the mornings for coffee. In summary, the burger was extremely good although a little pricey in my opinion... the bourbon selection was extensive and worth a trip in for a try.

The best burger I've had! Please, do yourself a favor and order the "Bourbon Bacon Jam" burger. When you're done - order the funnel cake fries and a side of chocolate sauce - Just trust me here. You'll need to call Lockwood for a crane to hoist your a** out of there when you're done but you'll dang sure be satisfied. Beer and Bourbon selection is spot on. Super clean establishment, friendly staff, prompt service. You can't go wrong. Ambiance is relaxing - good music!

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

They were also out of the snake river Wagyu ribeye and strip steak. We were told they didn't receive a shipment of meat. I like that when you order a steak it already comes with two sides. Other steakhouses you would have to order sides à la carte. The cocktails were amazing and service was great. Only thing that was a little weird was we had two birthdays and asked the manager if they happened to do a complimentary birthday dessert or something for the two birthday guest. He responded politely with we don't do any birthday desserts but you can order champagne since it's a celebration. Mind you it's a party of 12 and each couple's bill was at least 250+. I had walked past this place over a dozen times, always thinking it seemed a bit expensive. I finally decided to try it and confirmed that the prices were indeed high, which can be perfectly acceptable if the food quality matches the cost. Unfortunately, it didn't. I ordered the burger because it was the least expensive entrée on the menu at $24. While it wasn't bad, it certainly didn't justify the price. I'm not completely certain, but I strongly suspect the patty had been previously frozen. The bun also felt like a standard packaged brioche bun rather than something fresh or house-made. My buddy ordered a steak that cost nearly $100, but it looked like it had been cooked in a pan with little care or attention to detail. Presentation and preparation simply didn't match the premium price point. But he was given a tray of fancy salts to use on the steak? We also tried a flight of their three Old Fashioneds, and each one missed the mark. The Black Forest Old Fashioned tasted more like a cherry-forward cocktail than a whiskey drink, and their house Old Fashioned, which included Grand Marnier, came across more like a soda than a balanced, spirit-forward cocktail. Overall, while the food and drinks were decent, they fell well short of justifying the high prices. At this price point, I expected significantly higher quality, attention to detail, and execution. The saving grace was the wonderful and kind staff that work there. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to help guide you through your decisions with patience, which I would expect at this kind of restaurant.

After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full.
