Terrible. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. 1. I was charged the outrageous amount of 195$ for roots bleaching and wash - no hair drying, styling or anything else. 2. The hair stylist Jessica is not good, and besides the fact that she is not good she has an attitude and seemed like she didn't brush her teeth in a week. I felt very uncomfortable. 3. I saw Johnny yesterday to do SOMETHING about my mousy brown, thinning hair. He absolutely blew me away with his knowledge & expertise in coloring! Went in there and had my appointment with Madison for eyebrow micro blading A while back. As I was sitting in the chair I was asking to see pictures of her most recent clients that had micro blading, she could not produce any....that was my first indication that I should have left. When I showed her as we looked at pics of eyebrow shapes on my phone she said she could do them no problem so I sat back and let her do her thing. During the session she would ask me how I like them and I told her where I think we needed to fill in a little bit blah blah blah blah blah this went on for a couple hours. After that appointment I walked out and thought they're not gonna look super perfect the first time I have to wait for them to heal and then go in for a six week touch up, which I did. Fast forward to my six week Touch up.......... I went through the same song and dance where I think I need some more color blah blah blah blah blah. Now let's fast-forward again with a total of five months now have passed everything has healed and this is how this will be permanently and this shit was $600 what a fucking rip off. This is why there are no pictures on hot locks website regarding the work she does with Micro blading! I really would hope that she spent some of that $600 I paid her on some micro blading classes. read more

I had the pleasure of having my wedding make up and hair done at this GORGEOUS Salon. From the second I walked in the door I was greeted excitedly, offered something to drink and ushered to the area where they would be working on me. Tomaine (freaking AMAZING make up artist) NAILED the romantic look I was wanting for my big day without me having to elaborate at all!! We had a brief discussion at the start and then she went to work, we laughed and cut up the whole time. NONE of my make up ran or sweat off the entire evening, and let me tell ya it was humid!! I wanted to wear my hair down for my big day because I usually wear it up every day at work and when I strength train for competitions. Brittany wanded my long hair into the most perfect, soft, romantic curls!! Having a summer, outdoor wedding in the South presents quite a problem when it comes to straight hair like mine holding curl, but she worked some sort of magic because they held up GREAT! The Salon & Spa owner, Sanna, has been coloring my hair and doing my full hair extensions (HIGHLY recommended) for almost two years. I will never go anywhere else. But this visit was especially fantastic, I cannot rave enough! They made my wedding day look absolutely perfect and stress free!! read more

I had been getting my eyelashes done for over 5 months with Brittany Rowe. I absolutely loved her! She always did an amazing job, no complaints. Until recently when the new eyelash tech named Madison did my 3-week fill in. She is such a sweet girl but the fill-in I received was not worth $85 that I paid. Instead of using individual eyelashes, she used cluster eyelashes. I had no idea at the time because it was difficult to see. After clumps fells was when I realized that I was scammed. I paid for a service that wasn't even done. I could've just saved myself the hassle and gone to Sally's Beauty store and boughten a pack for $12.00. I will surely never being going back again or even recommending anyone I know. read more

Very nice place with very nice people. Affordable price with very good customer service. From what I see hair stylists and lady at the desk knows what they are doing and they are absolutely amazing I wished I was getting my haircut and I can talk to lady at the desk forever!! BUT unfortunately I was there to get my brows tinted and still I love how it turned out but I wish I was offered more while I'm getting it done. She waxed my brows very quick and she seemed like she was in a hurry since she picked my skin a few times with a tweezer. Which shows in the picture I was bleeding afterwards...... I waxed and tweezed my brows many times before and this never happens. And she tells me to go to the front to check out but I still haven't gotten my brows tinted so very confused I went to pay and lady at the desk quickly knew I didn't get brows tinted so she told her that I was in to get them tinted also and she again quickly sat me down in a chair and tinted my brows there....she didn't bother shaping or wiping the dye she dropped on my eye lid.... which shows in the picture. After 10 min she wiped them with a towel and told me it wasn't supposed to stain my skin and she hoped I don't mind it....so she sent me off to check out..and that was my 20 min experience there... I went there to get my brow waxed and tinted and I hoped to do my eyelashes but after looking at my brows I didn't bother asking about my lashes..and she didn't even ask me if I needed anything else done or if I liked my brows.. read more

I've been going to this salon for a few years. At first it was great. Previously, my stylist took the time to do her best work and I was always happy with the results. Lately my stylist has been way over scheduled and it takes away from the experience and the quality of her work. My last appointment was upsetting. Color was awful and the cut was worse. I was left to sit for too long under the dryer while she cut someone else's hair and started to color yet another client (this has been a common occurrence for the last year or so). Then she rushed through my haircut so she could get to the other client waiting under the dryer, resulting in a disaster that looked like it was cut by a 7 year old with rusty kitchen scissors. I want to be the focus when I'm spending that kind of money on a service. I expect to leave happy. I just had to chop 11 inches off my length because my layers were so messed up. I was crushed. So be warned, this place is hit or miss. It all depends on the day and how many clients are booked on top of each other. read more

I've been to several salons in New Bern, and every one failed to give me what I wanted in a haircut. I have extremely thick straight hair, and I left every salon traumatized with the results......until I found Hot Locks. I will say I was nervous given my past experiences, but decided to give them a try. I called, and explained my situation and past failed attempts and they assured me that I was in good hands and no matter what I'd leave happy. All I can say is Sanna is nothing less than AMAZING...along with her whole team! I had a little over 5 inches cut off, which still left my hair long. She gave me layers to die for and movement in my hair that I had forgotten I had. The last great style I had was years ago in Greenville and I had really given up hope. I was beyond happy leaving Hot Locks and in complete shock of how amazing she was at what she did. I got home and the first thing I heard was "wow, you look like you stepped out of a magazine!!" Needless to say, Hot Locks is the only place allowed near my hair with scissors. AMAZING doesn't even come close to describing Sanna, her service and salon!!! read more

Every time I made an appointment at HotLocks, my stylist was running late because they book clients too closely. I would sit in the waiting area and see the same thing with other clients and their stylists. As a result, I was rarely seen on time, and I watched stylists running around like crazy trying to finish one client while getting the next started. To me, the salon experience should be about pampering oneself and knowing I have my stylist's full attention. The last time I went to HotLocks, my regular stylist was distracted- gossiping with her other client who was under the dryer, while mixing and applying my haircolor. She went outside for a cigarette and left me sitting too long. This was the day before my spouse returned from a deployment so I wanted to look amazing. My hair came out so brassy, and still looked bad after she toned it. I cried when I got home. I haven't returned to HotLocks. 4 times was enough, and making my hair look bad for my spouse's homecoming was the final straw. read more

Angry and upset at what Jennifer Maier did to my hair. I want to cry every morning when I try to look presentable for work. I grew my hair out for the past 3 years to the bottom of my shoulder blades. I asked her to layer it and she took off about 4 inches and cut my bangs to above my eyebrows even after I told her that my hair shrinks a LOT when it dries. She took off even more in the front and created a layered bob that barely clears the length of my chin, but then there is a more than.3- inch difference between what is in front of my ears and the back. Got the picture? I look like Joe Dirt's sister grew out a mullet. I honestly want to cry every morning. The layers in back are long and she thinned out the hair so there's no fullness to it. I told her that I could see a distinct difference so she said she could "fix it". NO! She cut off more in the front! She also said that I still had enough length for a pony tail. Not with this short bob in front! Then she said I needed a keratin treatment. Ok, I thought. what can that be, $40? $50? I got to the checkout and it was $250!! I'm so embarrassed. I'm going on a romantic vacation with my husband this week and I'm going to be mortified for him to see my hair. I won't go back and I would definitely NOT recommend this salon to anyone except a Marine who needs a total shave off. read more

this is a very nice and upscale salon, not what you might expect from the name and sign out front. they have a wide variety of services, cuts, color, straightening treatments, makeup, eyebrows, massage and a health consultant. they offer you wine or water when you are waiting, i've been in there twice now and i haven't had to wait for more then 10 minutes. overall, a good place. read more

Got the most expensive hair trim of my life and though stylist was good -would never get back to me every time I called and stopped by (at least 4 times) to talk about a colour change. Disorganised, borderline rude and with that "ever so present" American sense of entitlement, most assuredly a salon best suited for the "mean girls" types. We will not bother about trying there again, yet it is a shame because of the proximity. Proximity means being close to our location. And disorganised and colour are spelled correctly in the proper English spelling. read more
