My wife and I celebrated our birthdays there last night (yes born same day, 1 year apart). The whole experience was a pleasure right from the start. Entering Intermezzo, we were asked if there was a special occasion that brought us in. We told them it was our birthday dinner. Upon being escorted to our table, we arrived to find a Happy Birthday sign had been placed on the table. The evening just got better from there. We shared two appies, escargot and bruschetta, a bottle of Ancient Hills Pino Baco, then our entrees. My wife absolutely loved the Ahi Tuna, while I devoured an amazing Moroccan Rack of Lamb, both of which were prepared to perfection. We finished off sharing their signature Black and White Creme Brule. Our server, Jess was an absolute delight, listening to a couple of old fogies stories, and offeriing to take our picture as a momento of the evening. Two dinners here. One with six at the table and one with eight. The service is friendly and efficient. Good attention is paid to explaining the dishes. There are not many vegetarian options but one can get by with a pasta. They have a good wine selection and some very good wines from a related small production wine maker. The space has a main dining room and a bar. On both occasions we were seated in the bar which I found a bit strange. The lighting is rather on the dark side but not extreme. This is my 3rd time going to Intermezzo and they quality of the food is still excellent. Each time we come, the menu is different so we are always trying something different. I remember my second time I had the best Beef Wellington. Today, I had the Ahi Tuna and it was absolutely delicious! The rest of my family had different dishes and I know the Seafood pasta was a huge hit! This place is perfect! There is a small patio out front on a quiet street with socially distanced tables. I appreciated the attentive staff, especially in offering their suggestions for drinks and being extra patient. I has gnocchi with my meal and they were the softest, fluffiest little pillows I ever had! The breading on the chicken parm was just right. I was visiting Vernon for a few days and my friend and I enjoyed the Rib Eye with mushrooms and prawns. I had the lamb with mash potatoes with roasted vegetables. I always have remembered Intermezzo for being cozy, elegant and top notch and have never been disappointed when ever I get the treat to eat there. I recently went on my birthday and it was amazing. Full house, lovely quiet chatter from the tables, wine service and unique and tasty food. I had the duck and it was flavourful and cooked to perfect doneness. We were eating birthday cake at home so didn't order dessert but they brought out a little arrangement of chocolate dipped mint leaves with whipped cream and a candle to celebrate! We were lucky enough to get reservations at this gem of a restaurant. If we would have been a little quicker we could have booked the wine cellar to dine in. They have space for one group and you can even bring in your own music. Unfortunately it was already booked but we still had a nice booth to celebrate our girlfriend's 40th birthday in. The restaurant was warm and cozy and had unique local art on its walls. Service was impeccable from the moment we entered the restaurant we were warmly welcomed by the lovely manager and our server was equally wonderful. I haven't even gotten to the food yet and was already impressed. We started off with the fresh baked warm bread and whipped herbed butter. Normally I avoid the bread basket but I could not stop eating this delicious bread! Next up we shared the Honey Pear salad and the Alaskan crab Caesar salad. Both were delicious! For my entree I had the Caribbean Halibut on risotto. I also got to sample my girlfriends' dishes. One went with the Spanish Saffron Prawns and the other one chose the Seafood Medley. No one was disappointed. Lastly our server brought a little Creme brûlée as a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl. This place is a must if you are visiting the Vernon area or live here. This is a real gem. We're not locals but have point a point to come here both times we've been in town and plan to make it a habit. This was our second visit. Our first was based on Yelp reviews (as our restaurant choices usually are). This place tries hard and succeeds. They pay attention to the finest details. An eclectic menu where it doesn't appear that you can ever really go wrong. It's fun watching the servers do their job. They know what they are doing and appear to enjoy doing it. We were there on a Friday night and the place ran like a well-oiled machine. The food the superb, the french onion soup being the only dish that I wasn't a fan of. The broth wasn't as rich as I'm accustomed and the onion were firm. Definitely not caramelized as with a classic rendition of this dish. Though the croutons and cheese were done in a manner that were much better than most I've had. I had the Salmon which was tasty and nicely presented. I'm a fan of the way this restaurant tantalizes you with with whole host of different vegetables and sides. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan. Sounded a bit boring to me but it taught me that this restaurant will add its own twists and flourish to any menu item you choose. read more
