We have been traveling all summer. It was now late September and my pedicure that I left our home in Phoenix with had seen better days. Where does a girl go when in a small town in upstate New York. Well! That is what my trusty Yelp app is for, right?! Hot Spot Salon and Spa had a good rating and reviews and was less then 5 miles away. I had an appointment with Danielle. I appreciated her questions and the way she made sure I was comfortable with the pedicure chair and water temperature. She made pleasant conversation that made the whole experience very enjoyable. Stylist and makeup artist Clair did my hair and makeup for my wedding along with all my bridesmaids' and mom's makeup. Everyone was pleased as she did our makeup according to our personalities and not just all the same look. Stylist and salon owner Amy did my bridesmaids' and mom's hair and they all looked stunning! Even my mama, who isn't big on having others do her hair, was very happy. Now I go to Stylist Jess for my highlights (foils) and trims and I am so pleased with her work (I've been going to her for about a year now). Booked an appointment for my mother and I to have a nice morning manicure. I was having old, gel polish removed, nail shaping and new coat of gel polish. My mother was just getting a shaping and gel polish. Off the bat they separated my mother and I and seated us at stations across the room from each other even though we requested to be done side by side so we could talk while getting our nails done. They said because the station wasn't cleaned yet next to me they had to put her over there instead of just cleaning the station. The girl had me soak my fingers in nail polish remover as was expected. She said it would be 10 minutes. 15 minutes later my mother was almost finished and I was still soaking. I told the girl it was past 10 minutes and she said I had to soak longer. The skin on my fingertips began to turn white and get flaky looking. I took my hands out and told the girl what was happening and she told me to hold my arms in the air and try to only have my nails touch the liquid.. kind of impossible and now it was WAY past 10 minute mark. 5 minutes later I told her I wasn't soaking anymore my fingers were burning. She FINALLY sat down to work on me. By now my mother's manicure was done. The girl couldn't get my old polish off. She tried using a dirty looking, used emery block to sand it off. She slipped with the block on two of my fingers both times cutting the sensitive skin at the bottom of my nails and drawing blood which was quite painful. She said she'd like me to soak longer but my fingers were now red and visibly burned from the earlier soaking and didn't recommend anymore soaking. She then handed me the emery block and told me I could try sanding off the polish myself as I might have better luck. I began doing my own manicure and my mother went to find someone in charge. I was able to get much of it off my left hand but was bleeding quite a bit from one of my cut fingers. My mom came back with another woman who I assume was a manager of some kind. She looked at my hands and took out a bottle of cuticle oil and brushed it onto my burned, cut fingers saying that it would moisturize and soothe the sting of the cuts. She brushed it on my bloody wound and put the brush BACK in the bottle and set it down. Another manicurist came over and took the bottle to use on ANOTHER customer after having dipped it in my blood. They were unable to finish my manicure and I was left with globby half sanded gross old polish on my nails and burned and cut fingertips. It looked HORRIBLE and it HURT. Then they charged me $4 for the nail polish soak. I couldn't believe they were trying to charge me ANYTHING for ruining my nails and hurting me. I told them I wasn't paying a dime and walked out. My mother paid because she was afraid they would call the police. I will NEVER go back there again and I tell everyone I know to steer clear. Even if you get a decent manicure, their tools and polish are DIRTY and apparently they don't mind brushing someone else's blood onto your nails. read more

We are in town for a wedding, I called last minute because we were running out of space (and warm water!) to get everyone ready. I was able to get in for a wash, blowout and added a pedicure. They were very nice and helpful. The salon is immaculate with new equipment and friendly staff. Great services, I am so relaxed and feel great - will definitely be back during our next trip here! read more

I have been going here for over five years after having my hair damaged at a different salon and needing an emergency fix. Amy knew just how to fix it and I haven't been anywhere else since.
