This place is nowhere near 4 stars. ZERO STARS! The most disgusting hotel we've stayed at...and even worse, then refuse to refund us even though we didn't spend a single night in their mold infested room. Their bathroom was covered in black mold in their ceiling, and they said they couldn't offer us another room nor a solution. So we immediately left and were left scrambling for a hotel late at night in a foreign country. The front desk person did not care about us at all. And now they refuse to issue us a full refund despite not spending any nights there, and despite providing us with a disgusting black mold room. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

I booked the Atlante Garden Hotel on Venere . I paid in advance for a lower rate. Hotel is lovely enough, two blocks to the Vatican. We arrived after an all night flight. The hotel has a free airport pick up!!! Bonus! They were prompt on arrival! Nice driver! Hotel room acknowledged upon arrival! I thought everything was going great! Another bonus is free breakfast ! Views are amazing! Good food, really nice breakfast! After taking a night tour, the tour dropped us at the confirmed Venere hotel, which was Atlante Garden Hotel. Three of us looked stupid saying this is not were our stuff is. We walked around. Luckily, I had taken a card with the hotel properties list. They realiZed the hotel switched us. To the sister site which iss the Atlante garden star hotel without explaining the switch. I said something upon return. Hotel brushed off my complaint. Not happy about the fast switch to sleepy travelers without notifying they down graded to lesser hiotel. That was shady! Maid service great!

Note is I did not stay at the hotel but thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop garden which I'll review here... Easily one of the top choices for a rooftop experience while in Rome... this place is classy and comfortable with just the right amount of swag. They have two levels with the top offering uninstructed 360 degree views of the city along with a DJ playing some groovy house music into the late-night hours. It's tough to beat for a sunset aperitivo as you watch the sunset behind the Vatican.

Had drinks at the wonderful rooftop bar. The drinks are a bit on the expensive side but the view is priceless.

I have read positive reviews and decided to visit this place. I ordered fish and chips and soda which costed around 20 Euro. The view at the roof is amazing, especially during the sun set. They even built a special site for taking photos. Great place, polite waitress and music is also cool.

Bathtub wasn't even attached to the wall. :-/

This hotel is very disorganized. They put me in a room that was disgusting. I will post pics. I paid for one night, breakfast and transfer to the airport were included. When I checked out they told me I had to pay for the airport transfer and on top of that they charged me 12 euros for breakfast. I emailed them and told them they need to reimburse me for the 12 euros and I never heard back from there. It's not the money, it's the lack of professionalism. When the maids clean the rooms, they leave dirty towels/bedsheets in the hallway. You have to walk by heaps of dirty laundry as you make your way to your room. Really gross. Another friend of mine paid for a superior room $250 a night, they tried to stick her in a small room with double beds. She complained, so they put her in the room she actually paid for. Hotel is close to the Vatican and has a great rooftop terrace. Overall, disappointed and would never stay here again.

This is the view from the rooftop garden at Hotel Atlante star!

DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti - King Deluxe room

If you are wanting to stay at a full-service, Hilton branded hotel property while in Rome without…read moregoing bankrupt doing so, The Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Rome Monti would be a solid choice. By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

We didn't rent a car so I can't comment on parking, but everything you want to see, like the Colosseum, is just a short walk from the hotel or you can take a cab. The staff were wonderful with helpful suggestions from the front desk to the amazing breakfast buffet staff that always gave us a very warm "buongiorno" when we came in. After a few days the server didn't need to ask anymore he just brought me a cappuccino when I sat down. That is probably the biggest breakfast buffets I have ever seen. The two pictures don't fully capture it all. I really liked this hotel and would be back if I am ever in Rome again.

The room was clean and modern with a fully stocked, complimentary mini bar. Loved the bathroom, the bar upstairs and the breakfast buffet and coffee with Salvatore was a great start to each day. The downstairs spa was a bit small, but enjoyable nonetheless, with steam room, sauna, and simple hydrotherapy stations. All in all this was the best accommodations we had our entire 10 day trip throughout Italy. Will gladly stay here again! The staff, service, location, amenities and facility were all stellar!

It was a good location to see the Colosseum, and the Vatican. There's two parts to this hotel, including hotel rooms and also suites. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite which was very spacious. It was like a little apartment! It is located in an area which is separate from the actual hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a very comfortable stay. They serve a complementary breakfast every morning, which was quite extensive and delicious! In the evenings before dinner, they do serve some appetizers and wine, almost like a "happy hour". If I ever return to Rome, definitely would like to stay in this hotel again. However, it is quietly nestled in a beautiful little neighborhood. It is very quiet and quaint. Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!
