Terrible service, expensive drinks, unfair rotation of views would not recommend spending my money here

Very convenient location by the Trevi fountain however a highly populated area makes it hard to get around especially during peak times. The hotels elevator did not work so we carried our luggage up the small stairway the hotel had. Our room was nice size and very clean. Hairdryer in room was broken and had to get new one and the water in shower would randomly get super hot or cold while in it. Did not have a view of the fountain and the rooftop bar was very expensive (18 euros for a beer) so I think you pay more for the area than anything else. read more

This hidden rooftop bar/garden is located in a hotel to the side of the Trevi Fountain. The drinks are $$$ (20+ euros), but they are good and you are paying for the view. We enjoyed our time relaxing after a seriously crazy experience at the Trevi Fountain! Staff was friendly and helpful (we kept moving closer to prime seats as they opened), again, the drinks were tasty and refreshing, and the space was unique. If you're looking for disappointment and regret, then this is you're place. I'm a HUGE "review" person and let me tell you, the skewed reviews for this hotel tricked my wife and I so I'm trying to do you a favor. Where do I begin? 1. The condition of cleanliness is comparable to a Motel 6. They DON'T clean their rooms. We upgraded our room to their Junior Suite and we saw food crumbs below the pillows on the sofa, mold/ dirt stains on the walls, a hair on the bed (not our own), sweat stains on the lamp shades, etc. 2. No hot water showers. Half the time it cuts in and out and one night it just never came back on during my shower. It felt like I was taking an ice shower, and trust me... it was not pleasant. Felt like I was back at the jenky Frat house. 3. Staff will provide info if you ask, but by no means are they friendly. They don't make you feel welcome or a like a guest. 4. The Rooftop bar is not exclusive to guests and they actively try to fill it with people off the streets. Don't be fooled by their "trendy rooftop bar with a view" because only 2 tables have actual fees of the Trevi and you'll probably rarely get them since they're prospecting off the street. 5. Same as 1, but housekeeping does NOT clean. They came during our super quick breakfast - we ate in about 15 min and came back to a "cleaned" room. They folded a couple towels, put on one new sheet and that was it. They didn't even replace the toilet paper roll which was essentially all used up. 6. You literally only get one sheet for the bed. No blanket or comforter - and we got the upgraded Junior Suite, once again. To put it into perspective of how bad our experience was, we literally threw away about $500 and decided to rebook elsewhere and spend another $300 (and no, we're not 'rolling in the dough', it was just THAT bad). We couldn't imagine ending our unforgettable trip to Italy with this experience. Luckily the hotel we booked / moved to saved our trip and our stay at Rome. read more

It was ehh ok...it's small and you actually barely see the view literally only one small section of the rooftop where you can see anything. Drinks were so expensive reminded me of Miami of Vegas. It was good tho I will say that but cost me 27$ including tip which they actually ask for which is strange in Italy. If you have money and wanna be a straight up tourist and see a small section of the fountain then yeah it's for you. So many other options to try around the area that is much much better for the view and price. read more

This was our view from the rooftop bar. Was crowded down in the walking areas. Food and drinks were overpriced. 18€ for a peroni beer and the 20€ pizza was disappointing. Dry, lukewarm, no cheese just a piece of salami smeared with something on top of it. The pizza down in the plaza looked so much better. read more

I went to the rooftop bar. I'd recommend it for a drink, but snacks weren't all that great. The meat and cheese plate were pretty below average. The meat didn't taste fresh. Cheese was good The waiter then charged us 20% tip on our tab, which isn't common in Italy. We felt dumb, but didn't realize until we had walked away. It was about 20€. Sad they'd taken advantage of us like that. read more

My experience here (rooftop bar, not the hotel) didn't even last 2 minutes, it took me a moment to get in and out. When we entered, there were no empty tables outside. But we would at least expect someone to greet us and show us a table. I think one of the waiters said something like "wait inside" as he was going out, because he didn't speak while looking at our faces. So, we found a table inside ourselves. Then someone put the menus on the table and left without speaking. When we saw the prices on the menu, we quickly left. Because there is a big difference between "expensive" and "overpriced". Yes, as Americans, our standards in the service industry are a little high, but this wasn't even a service at all. read more

Honestly if I come back to Rome this would be my last pick. Room was as expected, small and very basic which doesn't affect me too much. The bathroom was slightly annoying due to the toilet being literally under the sink but I can look past the small room. However my issues with this hotel are 1, upon trying to find the hotel the sign is so small it's so easy to miss, 2 there is no one downstairs to greet you or help you with your bags so your carrying bags up 2 flights of stairs after dragging them through the crowds to find the hotel since a taxi cannot drop you off right at the front. 3 incredibly loud all night long probably due to the bar and the floor we were on but it was just overall not a pleasant experience. I would have rather payed more money for somewhere better or less money somewhere farther away. I understand the reality's of traveling but this hotel just didn't stand out in absolutely any positive way!! read more

Yes! A rooftop bar in Italy! And right in front of the Trevi Fountain, too! Whooo!!! Come here when it's dark. Rome is so magical at night, and this establishment highlights my favorite place in Rome, the Trevi Fountain. It's not packed at night at all. This place is an absolute SCAM. My husband and I booked the hotel through Kayak a couple weeks in advance of our arrival in September 2013. Somehow, we apparently booked the room for one person as opposed to two. When we arrived at the hotel, the check-in initially went fine: we got our room keys and went up to our room. About 10 minutes later, the receptionist calls our room and tells us that the room was only booked for one person, so we have to pay an additional 50 euros PER NIGHT for the "additional person." We told the receptionist that we would call Kayak to find out what had happened with our reservation, but he wouldn't even let us stay in the room to make the call. We had to come back down to the lobby with our luggage and make the call from downstairs. So we're sitting in the lobby trying to sort things out with Kayak and got nowhere (as a side note, don't ever book through Kayak either, they will provide you with no safety guarantee whatsoever). The EXTREMELY RUDE receptionist then basically told us that we would have to dish out the extra $$$$ or leave AND lose the $1,000+ we had already paid for the reservation. My husband asked to speak to the manager, but he wouldn't even come out of his office to speak to us; my husband spoke with him on the lobby telephone, and could hear him talking in the room next door! The coward couldn't even face us as upset customers. So we were left in the vulnerable position of either paying the extra money, or losing the money that we had already paid and try to find a different hotel. We paid the additional amount the hotel demanded and went back to our room. That night, we looked up the room rates on the hotel's own website to see if there was in fact a price difference for a one-person reservation as opposed to a two-person reservation. Lo and behold, the price was THE EXACT SAME, even for a last minute reservation (see attached photos). We took screen shots on our cell phone of the prices so that we could take the issue up with the manager (again) the next day. When we spoke to the manager (this time in person), he basically told us that this was the hotel's policy, and didn't "believe" that we had found the identical rates online. The LIAR wouldn't even look us in the eyes. It was ultimately evident that we weren't going to be getting our money back, and decided to take the issue up with our credit card company and Kayak when we got back home, instead of letting this SCAM of an establishment ruin the rest of our vacation. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, book a room here. You will be scammed for extra money or will be left with no reservation. There is absolutely no sense of customer service here: we were customers who booked a reservation weeks in advance, and made an error in booking a room for one person as opposed to two. If the hotel did in fact have a "policy" of charging for extra people, then the price difference would have been reflected online on the hotel's own website. But when we looked at the prices for a SAME-DAY, last minute reservation, the prices were identical, irrespective of how many people were staying in the room. We had stayed in 5 different hotels on this trip, and this was by far the worst! Absolute SCAM!!! read more

The hotel is simply wonderful! It is right across the street (and a little down the block) from the Trevi Fountain (a 15 second walk pretty much) and the view is beautiful. It is a little busy and noisy but the rooms have the shutters that block sound and those help a lot. Also a 10 minute walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. And a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The rooms are gorgeous. I stayed in the triple room and it came with a queen sized bed and then a little alcove with a twin bed. Very comfy and spacious. Also came with 2 chairs and a little coffee table. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated. The staff was very helpful and was always there to help if we needed it. My only issue was the WiFi. It kept going in and out and sometimes didn't work at all. Overall the hotel is in a wonderful location and I would definitely recommend it! Not a scam at all (referring to the post below). We booked directly through the hotel and knew that when staying in European cities you pay based on the amount of occupants in the room, not like NYC where you can get one room for 2 and fit 12 people inside. read more

Hubby and I stayed here in 2016. It WAS a beautiful boutique hotel. It has been bought out and is now a dump. The reception area used to be ground level and very pretty. It's now closed so reception is now up 1 flight and not welcoming at all. When I mentioned remodel? they made no excuses for the way things looked so I guess it's just how it is now. Desk clerk gal was helpful but not personable. Stairway carpets needed replacing last time we were here but now they are downright gross. They took all the carpet out of the room we were in and didn't replace it. I have wood floors at home but want carpet in my hotel. The bed in our previous room was firm but oh so comfortable. Our bed this time was hard and lumpy. There was only a sheet on the bed. Our last room had a blanket and beautiful spread that matched the walls and curtains. The couch in this room seriously looks like something pulled off the side of the road. I am dead serious. The desk and wardrobe were beat up and chipped. The bathroom had peeling paint and a bath fan that had fallen from its mount and not repaired. The shower had mold in it and the sink didn't drain well. I'm sorry, but this room was just plain nasty. This is a premium priced hotel in the Trevi fountain area and I'm so disappointed in the dump it has become. Location is fabulous. Free breakfast is just ok. Oh, the garden patio used to be for hotel guest only but is now open to the public. It is very small so trying to compete for a table and night cap is ridiculous. It should have stayed hotel guests only. Find another place to stay. read more

I wanted to stay by the Trevi Fountain so I booked in this hotel . But what a disaster. Don't stay in this hotel if you have a problem in walking.Cars cannot drop you off infront of hotel. You would have to lug your heavy suitcase through cobblestone road from a distance which is not easy .Rooms are in upper floor but no accesss to the rickety elevator. They tell you its only a few steps to elevator but don't tell you it's available from the 2nd floor. So you end up climbing stairs . Hotel is so antiquated. Rooms are old and not too clean. Front desk personnel not too pleasant and find other additional charges. Breakfast is mediocre. Staying in this hotel will ruin your vacation. We decided to move to Crown Plaza Hotel by St Peters in Rome. From hotel we took a cab to Trevi Fountain which took us just a few step away , later drove us to the Colesseum,Spanish Steps,Parthenon, Borghese Palace etc. read more

What a find! We stayed at the hotel for only one night. Had I know what a gem it was, I may have reworked my itinerary. The location was a 2-3 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain (which was what led me to this slice of heaven). Many places use the title "Boutique Hotel". Relais Trevi 95 embodies all the wonderful things the title conveys. The rooms were quaint, luxurious and full of style. Beds are incredibly comfortable, rooms are fully equipped and the cascading rain head shower made me want to never leave. Our room had a lovely blue damask wall treatment with matching curtains and dark wood coffered ceilings that lent an air of richness & made it feel like we were guests in a Renaissance Palazzo. As fantastic as the hotel and location are, what truly sets apart this hotel is the impressive staff. Everyone from the front desk to the wait staff in the patio breakfast room is attentive, incredibly professional and cheerful too. I will be back in Rome and when I am, this will be the only place I stay. Simple amazing! read more
