    Pool area

We attended a pool party, expecting a fun and relaxing time, but it turned out to be anything but. First, we were charged about $45 just for entrance, which seemed steep but we thought it would be worth it. At the entrance, they told us we could sit anywhere, so we chose a spot by the pool. Then the unpleasant surprises began. Apparently, sitting by the pool came with an unspoken 3,000 pesos minimum spend, which was never mentioned at the door. To make matters worse, towels weren't even provided. If you didn't bring your own, you were forced to rent one for an additional $10. None of these ridiculous charges or rules were communicated beforehand. For the price, you'd expect much better service and transparency. Instead, it felt like a complete money grab with poor management. Wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money here. Their response: Your today's attendance was in our Naked Pool Party from 3 to 8pm hours. We charge pre sale tickets on the Eventbrite platform and ticket sale at the door of the event at a different cost. This is a regular practice in the pool clubs, hotels, and entertainment industry. The cost of the entrance is the cost of using Pool Club PV facilities as It is the heated pool, jacuzzi, showers, bathrooms, jardens, and playground area. Also, the entertainment with Gogo Dancers, show, games, host, music, and amazing dj. We also provide P.R. discount codes if you mention the name you received 10% discount if not regular price. As Pool Club inventory of lounge chairs, circular beds, and cabanas, we offer the opportunity to rent those with minimum consumption in the pool parties as regular hotel and pool clubs industry does. We do inform all our guests about the cost of a specific inventory of furniture and the general area with tables, tall chairs, and couches with no minimum charge of consumption. Towels and lockers are not included and have a cost of 100 pesos rental and 100 pesoa deposit. We always explain to our guest when they require the service. We are very sorry you didn't get the complete information of the business and costs. My response to their response: Thank you for your response, but it misses the core issue. We understand that pool clubs and hotels often charge for facilities, and we don't dispute that. The problem wasn't with the idea of minimum consumption or towel rentals--it was with the lack of communication about these charges upfront. When we arrived, we were specifically told we could sit anywhere, with no mention of a 3,000 peso minimum spend for certain areas until after we had already settled by the pool. That's where the frustration lies: being blindsided by unexpected costs that weren't disclosed at the entrance. Additionally, while you mention informing guests about towel rentals, this information was never provided to us upon entry or in the ticket details. Transparency goes a long way, and unfortunately, that was lacking during our visit. We hope you take this feedback seriously and improve communication with future guests to avoid similar disappointments. And as a side note, while I understand you're trying to clarify the nature of the event, disclosing that I attended a naked pool party is unnecessary and frankly, unprofessional. The focus of my review was on the poor communication regarding additional charges and not the type of event. My privacy and the privacy of other guests should be respected, regardless of the setting. That said, my main issue remains: the hidden costs and lack of transparency about minimum consumption fees and towel rentals.

3/1 - 3/7/22 The highlights are the staff and the pool house. The view is a close third and the bistro is absolutely amazing. Situated about a 10 minute walk from the hottest gay bars this is a great place to return to. The beds were comfy and view from the oversized balcony is simply amazing. Pool parties: just go. DJ, contests and guests from all over the city. The crowd that attends is very diverse. Shouout to Lalo who is a flat out amazing bartender that will take care of you! Bistro: amazing food and atmosphere, I just wish they were open later. Other pools: the 2nd floor pool area was nice but a bit of heating and updated atmosphere would go a long way. Room: I am surprised by some of the reviews. My bed was great, the room was better more expensive ones I have stayed at in Vegas. Cleaning! - we are not just talking a changing of the sheets but everything up to and including moping the floor. Concierge/front desk: no matter what I asked for they provided - and more. I do agree they could update the patio furniture. Just go. You will enjoy it.

We love our stay at Casa Capula. Last time we stayed at an all inclusive and we will never do that again in PV. The staff, hey Antonio!, is incredible. Tucked away high on a hill but still a 10-15 min walk to the beach. 5 mins walk into Zona Romantica. You get the best of PV, seclusion right on the town. Amazing views, amazing rooms, amazing food. We loved our stay. There are absorbing bo complaints. We splurged (which is funny cuz it's still amazing price) for the frida suite!

I have really struggled with writing this review but - I also feel that having had the experiences I have with Casa Cupula I owe it to other travelers to share our last experience and - hope for major changes at this once great Hotel. My husband (then partner) first went to Casa Cupula 15 years ago - and it was - a dream. A true five star luxury boutique gay hotel in Puerto Vallarta. The architecture was incredible, the design high-style and the services top notch. We made it our go-to destination every time we went to Puerto Vallarta - every two or three years. We were last there four years ago exactly. And - four years ago - for the most part it had maintained its high quality - and they had opened a fabulous bistro.. the meals were incredible. What a difference four years makes. Because of our prior experiences we rented two suites for 20 days - prepaid. Since I was going to be working remotely I was sure to ask about internet capability and was assured it was fast and working A very very sad deterioration. Our first suite was Milagro. We were told at check-in the spa on the deck was being repaired and would not be available that day. It also wasn't fixed the next day. It worked for a day and needed repair again. The restaurant no longer serves evening meals. The furniture was worn out and the fabrics stained. And the technology was ancient and barely functional. The internet was too slow to actually use the Apple TV functionality. It was all pulled together with an old receiver... I asked multiple times for someone to come look at the TV so that I could log into apps and use it - no one could figure it out. The internet was so slow - you can forget working remotely for zoom or FaceTime or Skype calls. We made the best of it - and we were reassured that all would be well when we moved to the Executive Suite for our final ten days. The suite had its own pool on an upper level patio with lounge chairs and an outdoor grill.. the pictures looked fantastic. By the time we moved rooms, it was evening and after all the stress of the first part of the visit we were looking forward to getting into the hot tub. No sooner had we gotten into the hot tub - which is weirdly situated in a step out in the bathroom next to the urinal - we noticed a horrific smell.. It was in the hot tub - and in the drains of the shower - and in the urinal in the bathroom. It was disgusting. It turned out there was some kind of problem with the sewage exhaust off loading into the suite. At midnight the front desk worker (a wonderful young man) was scrambling to find someone to help and he did his best to at least plug the vent and shut down vents so that at least the stench didn't permeate through the suite. The next day workers came to look at that - and to fix the pool. Although the stench quieted down somewhat - it never really left. Although we were told we had to set a timeframe for the hot tub to run - and we did - it just ran - randomly - not that we were in any hurry to get back in. The upper deck with the pool as you can see by the pictures - was in a state of disrepair. I brought one of the front desk clerks up to show him the grill - which was an embarrassment - and he sheepishly said it doesn't work. We were told when we checked in there was some issue with the pool and the filtration and they were working on it but were assured it would be fixed the next day. It took two more days to fix that. The entire place had been neglected in the four years since our last visit. I sent multiple emails to the manager - and asked that they be forwarded to the owners and requested a conversation with them. It never happened. We were given two free massages at their also tired spa as a consideration for our inconveniences. I want to add that the staff remains hard-working and eager to please. From the front desk, to Boris the manager, the desk clerks, the housekeeping staff and the workers at the bar and pool. Just friendly and dedicated. This is not about the staff. They are fantastic. Wonderful people doing the best they can. With each mishap, Boris and the crew did their best - but with a crumbling infrastructure - there is only so much they can do. This is about the owners simply - giving up - or so it seems. I know the pandemic years were brutal - but this decline was in play long before COVID. The raw space is still gorgeous - the architecture is still stunning and the view are incredible... but the infrastructure and the interiors are gasping their last breath. And, something else has happened in the intervening years since Casa Cupula opened - there are some amazing luxury options for gay travelers in Puerto Vallarta that have opened up. I would advise anyone to make sure you do your research before you book here. And with all my incredible memories of years past at Casa Cupula - it breaks my heart to say it.

Amazing experience. The staff were amazing - Always helpful and very friendly. Up the hill a bit from old town Puerto Vallarta, but the walk isn't too bad. Great views from the balcony. Clean rooms with nice amenities. They have an on-site restaurant with limited seating and hours, but there's plenty of places to eat in town. I would definitely recommend.

What an amazing experience we had at Casa Cupula. Our company, Zen Casa, hosts several gay retreats in the United States and in Mexico. After my initial visit to Casa Cupula, I inquired about hosting a gay men's retreat at the resort. The entire staff went above and beyond my expectations. We rented out more than half of the resort including the Villa Sevilla. The accommodations are extremely comfortable. Each room is unique and the bathrooms are modern. Everyday we had different activities planned for the retreat and the staff was ready and willing to be of service. When we had morning yoga on the top patio, the staff ensured all the furniture was moved and the floor swept. The restaurant Taste, had a banquet table setup alongside the pool where we enjoyed our candlelight dinners with excellent service. They took care of ground transportation to and from the airport and made sure everyone felt at home. Logan, Edwin, and Jesus provided top quality service. They provided recommendations for restaurants in town, helped to organize our group excursions, and was attentive to all of our needs. We loved the experience so much we are going back to Casa Cupula for our April retreat in 2017!!

A beautiful celebration welcoming you to Mexico. Fast forward a couple months later, we're here and trying it out.... First off, location is AMAZING. Literally right in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Everything is literally footsteps and minutes away. You have the beach a few minutes walk down. As well as the well known Los Muertos Pier. Restaurant one after the other next door to you and across the street. Not only that, bars are all walking distance. Either at the corner or half a block away. Even though it's central to everything, it wasn't crazy noisy. Check in was a breeze. We got dropped off with uber. It's a one way street so it made it simple but parking is tricky there if you're driving. Right when you walk in, that's where you'll be greeted with the beautiful color crochet canopy. We arrived early and were offered early check in and late check out with our booking status. Not only that, we were offered two rooms to choose from and to top it off. A beautiful welcoming with a bottle of wine. Property is pretty much lined with plants and flowers surrounding the area. I believe it's three maybe four level. There is a pool, it's small but does the trick for a boutique hotel. Sun lounges around it as well as on an upper deck for sunbathing. There's a massive mango tree that's right in front and does offer fruits which are left out for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze, with the sweet lady that was working. They do have a lock and safe box in front private room. It was 300 peso deposit and you receive it after you return the ticket slip at end of visit. Same as beach towels, believe it was 200 pesos deposit. Room itself, pretty basic as it's a boutique hotel. Affordable which was nice. They had Airbnb similar but this visit we didn't want to have to do everything ourself. Hence a hotel with housekeeping. Big king size bed with a sofa/futon. Bathroom was basic with a shower. Sink was small. It does need some renovation but did the trick. You have complimentary toiletry which was just basic. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or safe in room. Traditional Hispanic vibes decorated the room. There's of course ac and a small tv mounted to the wall near ceiling. You're able to connect to your streaming channels from your phone. We did have to figure out how to change the language preferences. Overall, rooms do need some updating. Property was beautiful with all the lush plants and flowers. Courtyard with the beautiful colorful canopy and tables outside. Decent pool for lounging, it's not that deep. There's a community fridge and kitchen area. Power did go out for a bit which left the tv unable to come on but we were heading out for the evening. Minor glitch. There is construction a couple doors down but didn't bother us as we were out majority of the day. And a restaurant literally right next door for breakfast and lunch. Would I stay again, yes. It's a nice friendly affordable place. Perfect location for everything. Had all the necessity, safe which can be utilized in private room at the lobby. I'm sure dryer and iron can be brought up to room. But the stay was great.

But after seeing some of the mixed feedback now, I was honestly surprised. It seems like this place can be very hit or miss. Thankfully for us, it was definitely a hit. We were there for three nights, and overall had a great experience. Our main complaint would be the food, which we found to be mediocre overall, though there were definitely a couple of standouts. Next time, I'd skip the buffet except for the freshly made stations, which were the only part consistently worth it. We really enjoyed the teppanyaki at Tamari, and the fish and shrimp tacos from Blaze were so good we had them twice during our stay. On the other hand, dinner at Blaze was unremarkable and we were disappointed with the pizza and zeppole from Melanzane, though we didn't get to try anything else there. I do wish we had stayed an extra night or two to explore more of the dining options, though based on what we experienced, we may not have missed out on too much. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Rafael at the club lounge bar and Lizbeth at reception - both were a pleasure and made our stay even more enjoyable. I was also surprised by the size of the gym and the variety of equipment. I made sure to get at least one workout in and really appreciated the incredible ocean views while doing so. We visited in February and never felt like the resort was overcrowded. In fact, some restaurants seemed surprisingly empty at times. One thing worth noting: they have pickleball courts and a basketball court, which we didn't see advertised anywhere. We would've packed our pickleball gear had we known, but fortunately they provide equipment you can borrow. They also offer activities throughout the day - we mostly enjoyed the evening bar shows. I'd definitely recommend downloading their app to keep track of the schedule and access other helpful hotel information like menus. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay and a strong positive experience for us. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the dining experience didn't quite match the rest of the resort. While the food could be more consistent, the friendly staff, beautiful setting, amenities, and relaxed atmosphere made it a memorable stay.
