    Overlooking the pool and restaurant.

This is not a fancy hotel but has some wonderful features. It's centrally located and has a fantastic pool, large hot tub and spa. There are at least 3 restaurants & bars directly attached and all are decent. The rooms vary from "holy shit! This is dank." to. " ok, I can tolerate it". The older section has dated rooms and decor and the bathrooms are, well, rustic. The water pressure is whimsical, the temperature is variable and there is cramped quality . After a few days you won't even notice. The newer section is modern and functions like you want it to. The hotel is right in the middle if everything and it's super safe to walk around at night. It's also very gay friendly which is nice.

This is mainly a warning for large groups. They will try to squeeze every single nickel and dime out of you. I came here with a large group for a wedding. Ceremony was beautiful, rooms lacked conditioner and lotion, but we need to talk about the real tea... Customer service here at Hotel Playa Los Acros. The couple booked through Booking.com and there was an issue with booking 4 people to a room, as apparently the hotel only allows 3. Due to booking.com's incorrect information, the hotel wanted to charge the couple extra for this. Last minute arrangements at other places thus needed to happen. I feel like it's booking.com's fault for bad information, but the way they choose to handle this was wrong. A large group of us got together for lunch at the rooftop restaurant. This is the one pictured with tables in a shallow pool. Everything was fabulous and going great... until the bill came. They only do one bill, no splitting. Thus this became very difficult when everyone was trying to pay separately. There was only one card reader. As Americans, mostly with cards, this took forever. Apparently there was $200 at the very end. Personally, I think the guy checking us out had a hard time keeping up with what had already been paid and not. So he claimed there was $200 still unaccounted for. When trying to get to the bottom of this. He threatened to call the police and created a scene that all the servers came out to watch. Unfortunately, the couple had to pay for it even after everything they already spent. I think you can argue that above might be due to miscommunication, but wait there's more! They have MILITANT security guards. No guests of guests allowed apparently. Which became an issue, as others had to make last minute arrangements. My friend got kicked out of a hot tub because he didn't have a wrist band. Even though a couple (also without wrist bands) in the same hot tub wasn't given trouble. It's like they had it out for our group. On the way home from bar hopping, security guards will wait out front and kick you out if you don't have a wristband. Even if you vouch for them. The groom, who spoke Spanish, clearly had enough of this. The main security guard started yelling. Police were threatened again to be called... So our groom started recording him on his phone to prove this actually was happening. It was so bad. I was highly uncomfortable. We were made to feel like criminals instead of guests. Most of the guests here are retired individuals looking to snowbird. Perhaps this hotel is excellent for that type of clientele. But for not for young travelers, large groups celebrating events, or those that like freedom.

Beautiful pool sits in middle of property. This is the view from the third floor and you can see all the way to the nearby beach and bay.

Always an easy check in! Our room was ready when we arrived. All of the staff are kind and always smiling. This hotel is right in the middle of many activities that are walkable...beach, amazing restaurants, entertainment and sightseeing. The hotel provides entertainment nearly every night in the restaurant, as well, and they have breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets (along with food from the menu). And the pool area is so relaxing. They took very good care of us with grace and a calming manner during the recent unrest. We've already booked our stay for next year.

    2 inch gap under door.

Stayed here 2 years in a row with other couples. Half had crappy rooms the first time, half had the same the second time. The bad rooms were small and loud, on the street side. All booked the same room category. Wrote a review after the first time and hotel manager responded that they would do better, if we stayed again. They didn't, so unless you're willing to take a 50/50 chance, skip this resort and find somewhere guaranteed to be nicer. There are plenty of choices in Puerto Vallarta. Also, drinks were fair, breakfast was good, but other meals were "recycled" buffet and mediocre. Service was very spotty, usually worse of an evening. Front desk staff seemed pretty uncaring and not too hospitable. Asked to speak to the manager and never got a response. Property is old and needs a remodel in most areas. The best that can be said is the location, in the heart of the romantic zone. I violated a primary rule of mine on this trip, which is "never stay in a bad hotel twice".

wow this resort ... so so sad. I have stayed at los arcos Cabos and it is nite and DAY. Cabos is by far a stellar and actually 4-star resort with quality in service, food , and views to match. I had high hopes for this resort, because i have stayed at an Arco hotel twice before but this did not hit the mark, at all. Let me compare and contrast: First, there is NO GYM!! Only a spa that you have to pay for services which is so disappointing. A Spa is great for those who want a facial, pedicure, but i am just looking to continue my gym regimen. Even just a treadmill or stairmaster would have been enough.. just anything. (**Cabo has an amazing gym, locker room area, and juices for your workout**) The entrance is off putting. There is no doors blocking out anyone, although there is security at the front and back of the entrances. It is open to the street (see photo) and the pool is directly next to the check in desk. The workers here are nice and I have not had an issue with anyone! One thing about both resorts are the workers are very nice and caring!! There are 4-5 pools. 2 regular pools with chairs poolside, 1 kiddie pool, 1 jaccuzi, 1 adult only infinity pool that looks out to the ocean and the sidewalk. This resort is located in a prime location so there is heavy foot traffic and due to the umbrellas on the beach there is an obstructed view from the infinity pool. There are only 2 bars which can ge packed with servers ordered upwards of 20 drinks at a time ... causing big wait times. The only downside is that it seems they are under staffed for poolside / oceanside workers. If you are in the pool or by the water you may wait anywhere from 10-20 minutes (no exaggeration) , at times i thought they forgot about us. And by the time the drink comes it is water down, no longer cold, and liquified. (See video) It is quicker to get up and get your own drink, which defeats the purpose of the service. *there are about 2-3 poolside workers for a large amount of guests. So maybe this is where the issue stems from. Also it is not a quiet or relaxing location .. If you want to hear the ocean you have to be on the sand or walking down the sidewalk and away from the resort. All the AC units from other hotels , restaurants causes a loud noise. (See video) Not to mention the workers trying to sell you something every second, I could never get more than one minute alone. Even when reading my book someone is trying to sell bracelets , massages, art work, t-shirts, braids, food, ice cream, snacks, silver, music, tourists attractions, anything.. there are even kids that interrupt your eating when you are at the resort to come and ask to buy something from them. I have had people sell me things in Cabos but they never got on resort property & there were about 6-7 workers for the entire stretch of land, you can find some quiet space. The food here is LARGELY disappointing. If you have the all inclusive that ONLY allows you to eat at the buffet and you can expect relatively the same dishes or a variation of them. Breakfast: chilaquiles, beans, potatoes, yogurt bar, pan dulces, French toast/pancake station, omelette station. They do have good aguas/coffee in the morning Lunch: seafood pasta, salad bar, fruit, tostadas, fish of some kind Dinner: beans, rice, bread, several fish options, ribs, carne asada, salad table, chips/salsa. Some of the food is just plain bland or too salty.. which is so disappointing especially this being the only option for those with the all inclusive. They do have 2 restaurant's on the resort but they are not included in the all inclusive. They did give us a voucher to try a restaurant, which requires a reservation 2 days in advance. The rooms are decent. The restrooms are so small and require a step to get in them , which might be difficult for the elderly. And the showers were made of stone. The tv is small but not a huge deal. This resort could be a great option if you get a good deal or need somewhere family friendly. I just had better expectations for an Arcos resort and I was very disappointed.

Location is perfect, right in the middle of Zona Romantica. Our vacation hosts had scouted the hotel out in advance so we had a great room (301) on the corner with amazing views. The room was decent sized, very clean and everything worked. All-inclusive, so there are pluses and minuses with that. Food was pretty good -- we as Vegans gravitated towards the buffet as we were able to put together meals that suited our needs just fine. Staff was all exceptionally friendly, though we did have a minor incident checking in where, in putting the wrist bracelets on that identified you as a guest, my partner's wrist got nicked pretty well by the woman securing it to her, actually drawing blood. There was not a lot of concern on their part...but we also didn't make a big scene about it. We felt safe the entire time -- gringos are far outnumbered by locals, and we rather enjoyed that. When we travel to a foreign country it doesn't feel like you've gone anywhere if everyone surrounding you looks just like "home"....and that may sound odd, but that's our own preference. Bottom line -- we would happily stay again. We spent two nights here and then per our plans moved over to the Hyatt (also very nice but for different reasons) and honestly, overall preferred the vibe and atmosphere (and, if we were spending our own dollars on the room, the value) and location.

Loved staying here while in Old Town Puerto Vallarta it was a beautiful place but the AC had issues so we had them bring in a fan for the bedroom and the bed was extra firm. But other than that it was wonderful! Loved the all inclusive. And the location was close to everything we wanted to be around

    Bathroom floor.

My wife and I just got back from Puerto Vallarta, last night to be exact (Nov. 16). It was our 4th time going to PV, and our 4th time staying at Playa Los Arcos (we stayed 7 days). Last year we even took some friends with us. We like PLA mainly because of its location, it's close to everything we like. The first three times we stayed the rooms were decent, BUT this last time the room (438) they gave us wasn't in the best conditions, specially the bathroom. The bathroom was in TERRIBLE conditions (see pictures attached). The first day one of the towels had yellow stains on it. Towels in general in the hotel are bad but this time they were worse. The mirror in the bathroom has black stains/spots on it, looks super old and dirty (see picture attached). As far as the room goes, everything was okay for the most part EXCEPT that one of the nights we found a bug on the bed (see video attached). Also, the curtains on the sliding door to the balcony didn't close all the way so early in the morning you get a lot of sunlight in the room making it hard to sleep in like you would want to do while on vacation. The smell of the room was pretty bad, too. We know that PLA is not a fancy hotel and that's why the rooms are not superior quality, and that's why is not a super expensive hotel - we get that - but I think they can do a better job maintaining the rooms in a better conditions. Like I said, the first three times we stayed at PLA, the rooms were decent, nothing too fancy but confortable enough. But this last time we really didn't like the room experience at all. Maybe it's time for us to find a new place for our next trip to PV. On a positive note, the staff at PLA was very friendly to us. I know that not everybody has a good experience with them but the 4 times we have stayed there, they have always been nice to us.

In the last few years, they've built this monstrosity that blocks the view for a majority of the rooms.

My husband and I have been coming here 1-2 times per year for 5 years now, but I'm so sad to say we won't be coming back after this stay. It started with booking the reservation - when I tried to call to make the reservation, whomever I spoke with was very rude and insisted that I use the website to book. Of course, the website is terrible and does not accurately describe the rooms, so I accidentally booked the wrong type of room. I called again to try to fix the reservation, I was told they couldn't t help me and to fix it myself on the website. When I tried to correct the error, the website reverted the reservation to 1 adult. I didn't notice this until we were checking in and the front desk staff acted like I did this on purpose and made me feel document in writing that I made an error in my reservation - seriously, like I was signing a confession! So strange and embarrassing!!! Then we get to the room and what should be an ocean view or even partial ocean view is obstructed by this useless monstrosity hut. The room is very outdated, especially the bathroom, which has these disgusting and discolored curtains. We used to enjoy a beachside breakfast at the restaurant, but were disappointed by the service this time. While waiting to meet some friends, we ordered food poolside - when our friends arrived and were waiting for us to finish eating, security made such an embarrassing scene and made our friends leave bc they did not have bracelets on. I was absolutely mortified!!! ... I understand that all guests are required to wear bracelets and respect the rule; however, you'll see many people are wearing unofficial/knock-off bracelets to use the property and security does nothing about the large groups of obnoxious people doing this. Our entire stay was consistently disappointing. I am so sad such a dramatic decline in quality and service. I sincerely urge you to find somewhere else to stay in PV.

Nahmias he walks around idk doing what but he's sooooooo rude most staff here are rude l, you have 1 or 2 that are nice but the majority are mean, Evan a bartender doesn't make iContact doesn't say hello when you say hello basically asked what do you want even if you say good afternoon, he doesn't reply with anything doesn't even care I think, sad place to come visit. Diana is the snack place server and she straight out said no you cannot get anything until one even though they were open, I spoke to one of the managers and he went over there and make sure that we were able to get food. She just didn't want to serve. This place is absolutely horrible was my first time visiting Puerto Vallarta the outside skirts is nice but this hotel it's a big no-no for me anymore. Also, just know this place is really not all inclusive. You only get two water bottles per day so your room room service is absolutely not included unless you pay for it. The restaurants are not included unless you pay for it they give you a 10% discount only the Buffay is unlimited and it sucks a lot lol and the snack place is also a limited that's it. Drinks are included but very very limited. Update next day. Evan bartender sooo rude, Diana the snack lady lies and says it closed so she don't serve, rahaniss idk if this is how you spell his name but he's the pool server and dose not help at all and is crazy rude af, the staff is unhappy rude, I truly do not know how this place is even open, room are rundown and dingy. It's truly not all inclusive. You only get two water bottles per day anything else you have to pay, noooo room service at all, also only snack bar is unlimited and a little buffet, food meh it's edible that's it lol I truly gave this place a shot but this is a no go anymore for me.

A beautiful celebration welcoming you to Mexico. Fast forward a couple months later, we're here and trying it out.... First off, location is AMAZING. Literally right in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Everything is literally footsteps and minutes away. You have the beach a few minutes walk down. As well as the well known Los Muertos Pier. Restaurant one after the other next door to you and across the street. Not only that, bars are all walking distance. Either at the corner or half a block away. Even though it's central to everything, it wasn't crazy noisy. Check in was a breeze. We got dropped off with uber. It's a one way street so it made it simple but parking is tricky there if you're driving. Right when you walk in, that's where you'll be greeted with the beautiful color crochet canopy. We arrived early and were offered early check in and late check out with our booking status. Not only that, we were offered two rooms to choose from and to top it off. A beautiful welcoming with a bottle of wine. Property is pretty much lined with plants and flowers surrounding the area. I believe it's three maybe four level. There is a pool, it's small but does the trick for a boutique hotel. Sun lounges around it as well as on an upper deck for sunbathing. There's a massive mango tree that's right in front and does offer fruits which are left out for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze, with the sweet lady that was working. They do have a lock and safe box in front private room. It was 300 peso deposit and you receive it after you return the ticket slip at end of visit. Same as beach towels, believe it was 200 pesos deposit. Room itself, pretty basic as it's a boutique hotel. Affordable which was nice. They had Airbnb similar but this visit we didn't want to have to do everything ourself. Hence a hotel with housekeeping. Big king size bed with a sofa/futon. Bathroom was basic with a shower. Sink was small. It does need some renovation but did the trick. You have complimentary toiletry which was just basic. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or safe in room. Traditional Hispanic vibes decorated the room. There's of course ac and a small tv mounted to the wall near ceiling. You're able to connect to your streaming channels from your phone. We did have to figure out how to change the language preferences. Overall, rooms do need some updating. Property was beautiful with all the lush plants and flowers. Courtyard with the beautiful colorful canopy and tables outside. Decent pool for lounging, it's not that deep. There's a community fridge and kitchen area. Power did go out for a bit which left the tv unable to come on but we were heading out for the evening. Minor glitch. There is construction a couple doors down but didn't bother us as we were out majority of the day. And a restaurant literally right next door for breakfast and lunch. Would I stay again, yes. It's a nice friendly affordable place. Perfect location for everything. Had all the necessity, safe which can be utilized in private room at the lobby. I'm sure dryer and iron can be brought up to room. But the stay was great.

For three nights, we stayed on the second floor in the purple and gray Korvette room which had a comfortable Queen bed and a nice balcony overlooking the river. It was a bucolic woodsy setting with birds chirping and the sporadic rumble of motor scooters below us. The entire hotel was decorated to the hilt with eccentric bric-a-brac that must surely reflect the eclectic taste of the owner. The hotel's homey vibe extended even to the house cat who had its own Victorian brass bed. We took advantage of the complimentary margaritas available upon arrival. The bartender was up on the rooftop terrace on the seventh floor. The sunset view was spectacular, and there was a small lap pool that looked inviting had it been able to accommodate more than one swimming guest at a time. RELATED - Exploring Puerto Vallarta? My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta for a wedding, and since…read morethe accommodations were already chosen for us, I didn't read any reviews beforehand. But after seeing some of the mixed feedback now, I was honestly surprised. It seems like this place can be very hit or miss. Thankfully for us, it was definitely a hit. We were there for three nights, and overall had a great experience. Our main complaint would be the food, which we found to be mediocre overall, though there were definitely a couple of standouts. Next time, I'd skip the buffet except for the freshly made stations, which were the only part consistently worth it. We really enjoyed the teppanyaki at Tamari, and the fish and shrimp tacos from Blaze were so good we had them twice during our stay. On the other hand, dinner at Blaze was unremarkable and we were disappointed with the pizza and zeppole from Melanzane, though we didn't get to try anything else there. I do wish we had stayed an extra night or two to explore more of the dining options, though based on what we experienced, we may not have missed out on too much. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Rafael at the club lounge bar and Lizbeth at reception - both were a pleasure and made our stay even more enjoyable. I was also surprised by the size of the gym and the variety of equipment. I made sure to get at least one workout in and really appreciated the incredible ocean views while doing so. We visited in February and never felt like the resort was overcrowded. In fact, some restaurants seemed surprisingly empty at times. One thing worth noting: they have pickleball courts and a basketball court, which we didn't see advertised anywhere. We would've packed our pickleball gear had we known, but fortunately they provide equipment you can borrow. They also offer activities throughout the day - we mostly enjoyed the evening bar shows. I'd definitely recommend downloading their app to keep track of the schedule and access other helpful hotel information like menus. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay and a strong positive experience for us. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the dining experience didn't quite match the rest of the resort. While the food could be more consistent, the friendly staff, beautiful setting, amenities, and relaxed atmosphere made it a memorable stay.

We spent most of our time at the adult pool which was a lovely location with an infinity pool, hot tub, and drink service. There was also a great view of the beach, which seemed very private. The atmosphere in general was relatively relaxed and upscale, and not too many kids, but maybe it was off season. Overall, would certainly go again!
