The first time I stayed at Hotel Dylan was over a decade ago, on a trip as a pre-teen with my grandma, mom, and sister. It was a special getaway that stayed with us long after we returned home--so much so that, over the years, my mom proudly wore her Hotel Dylan sweatshirt and hat, a small reminder of a place we all remembered fondly. When I recently found myself looking for a place to stay in the Catskills, I immediately thought of the charming hotel I'd visited as a kid. When we arrived, I remembered the record players and the thoughtful "Love Is All You Need" pillow, but this time I noticed something more: the care and intention woven into every detail of the space. Our room was designed to reflect the whimsy of the surrounding area, and I found myself reverse image-searching more than a few of the pieces. The staff was kind and thoughtful, and there's a genuine sense of community here--laid-back, creative, and welcoming in a way that feels effortless. Awesome mom and pop hotel right outside of the main strip at Woodstock. They can be pricey especially in season but I enjoyed my stay there. Huge parking lot and then hotel is a little bit above it. The main office is in the center of the hotel and it's amazingly decorated. They have board games and records you can borrow and this boutique hotel is music themed. The rooms are named as such and there are two floors of rooms. There a few different types as far as number of beds and layout. I believe there is one bi level room as well. There's also two floor house available as well which is very unique. There's a salt water pool and two fire pits as well. They give you marshmallows and a roasting stick. There's a gym for a fee right across the street as well. Amazing place to stay if you're visiting the area! read more

Hotel Dylan met expectations while we were visiting the Woodstock area. Daryl was super welcoming and helpful getting us all settled in. His pups were so cute. We were happy we were able to bring our own dog as well. We loved that our stay came with a little s'mores kit. We even received a dog ball and Hotel Dylan charm for our pup. We stayed in the Cocker room which was the bottom floor right by the parking lot. It was clean and spacious with a large bathroom. The walls are thin and it was a little noisy in the morning and night- you could definitely hear everyone stomping around upstairs so request a top floor if that bothers you. The bed was pretty comfortable. I like scalding water and I wish the shower was a little warmer but other than that everything was perfect. We even utilized the gym discount at 28 west gym across the road (Discount is $10pp day pass). The fire pits were nice to enjoy at night. The drive into downtown was quick and easy. What a lovely hotel. Honestly I can't say enough good things. My husband and I were visiting Woodstock for a surprise birthday party for a family member at Santa Fe restaurant right nextdoor. We booked the Dylan as a matter of convenience having no idea how great it would be. The owners really took time and care with this place. No corners were cut and it shows! The rooms are adorable and super comfy. Extra amenities are everywhere. The music theme (bob Dylan ... get it?) is so much fun. We stayed in the Van Morrison room. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets are high end. The whole thing is 10 out of 10. We can't wait to go back. Trust me on this one, I am a picky consumer and this place really delivers. Oh, and the lobby! I could have hung around there drinking their delicious coffee all day. read more

Great experience at Hotel Dylan! It's a unique Woodstock-themed hotel, highly recommended staying here to get a full Woodstock experience. The rooms have fun names like "The Joplin" and "The Jimi," and the rooms feel simultaneously retro and modern at the same time. Yes, the structure of the building is similar to a motel. 11 rooms at the bottom and 11 rooms at the top. We stayed here during the offseason so most of the rooms were empty. We didn't have the experience of noise from other rooms. If you're a light sleeper, perhaps wear earplugs - or maybe don't stay at a rock and roll themed hotel? Every room has a Crosley record player - yes, the vinyl record snobs may scoff, but it's still a fun experience! My wife and I stopped by Darkside Records in Poughkeepsie and bought a stack of 45s for 25 cents each. We had a blast playing the Temptations, Zombies, and Ventures singles. Just be respectful of your neighbors - quiet hours start at 10pm. The check-in process is smooth and "touch-less." We were provided with a s'mores kit upon arrival. There's a fire pit on Friday and Saturdays. Since it rained on Saturday, the staff were kind enough to start a fire on a Sunday night. The fire pit ends up being a communal area to interact with other hotel guests. Darryl is a great concierge, super knowledgeable about restaurants, hiking trails, upcoming concerts. He recommended we check out a Midnight Ramble concert at Levon Helms Studio - and it ended up being best sounding concerts that I've ever attended! I can't even describe how much I love this hotel - it's so unique and has so much charm. The service was impeccable. The rooms were very clean and the beds were so damn comfortable. They do little touches that made it feel extra special, like leaving s'more kits on the door and weather forecast for the weekend with hiking recommendations. The pool was so great too and the restaurant and caffe were both great. My only complaint was that our room was on the first floor outside of the fire pit and you can hear everything going on outside, next door and above you. If you're a light sleeper like me, I def recommend ear plugs (which I luckily had but didn't block all of the noise) and requesting a second floor off center room. I've traveled a lot and this was hands down one of my all time favorite hotels. read more

I like 1960s era classic rock as much as any millennial, so the theme was neat but not really a big deal to me. that being said, this hotel is very nice. Don't think it's just tied to the theme, the furniture and the amenities are quite nice and the TV reception is crisp and quality. The climate control is great and there are mini fridges in the rooms. Definitely a good hotel. Also there seemed to be a bunch of out door things to do as well. these were lost on us since we were there in mid December, but I bet that this hotel is pretty darn fun in summer. read more

Unfortunately the Hotel Dylan is not what it once was. I have stayed at Hotel Dylan about 10 times and after my last experience I will never stay there again. The manager Darryl is awful. He has no experience in running a hotel and was previously a director of golf in Florida. He is abrasive and rude. He definitely does not embody the attitutde and behavior you would expect from someone running a small hotel in the catskills. They used to have two ladies running hotel dylan who were so friendly and nice. We booked the Band Suite this time. There was someones old food in the refigerator, the light fixture above the desk was full of dust as if it had never been cleaned, and the lights above the bathroom mirror did not work. When you are pay $300+ for a night you expect everything to work and be clean especially during covid. I have always stayed with my dog at Hotel Dylan and never had any issues. The place has changed though so now you receive a 4 page document at check in with highlights as to the rules with the dog. Not really the peace, love, stay motto. Although I have always found the rooms noisy because the hotel is on route 28 and you can hear trucks all night I always loved hotel dylan because the rooms were clean and the people were friendly. The rooms are not clean and seemed run down and the people are awful so I would not suggest this place to anyone. Pay a little more money and stay somewhere that is run well and that you will be treated nicely. read more

This place is incredible. So well appointed, so cool, funky,chic... all of it with yes, rock and roll! Each room has a turntable and records. How much fun is that. What a great way to relax apres any activity and rev up for dinner out. The staff are so hospitable and accommodating. Darryl, one of the owners, is very hands on and a great conversationalist. Talk to him about golf, guitars, west coast skiing and wine. Prior to arriving they were quick to respond to emails and helped us find a restaurant to celebrate a double birthday. Lots of places to breathe, hang out, sit by the fire. Upon arriving back from dinner we had a s'mores kit hanging on our door knob! Yes! Why do I need that...Each night there is a fire in a gorgeous fire pit. Be sure to sit in the swings at the bar/lounging area and get a free donut (for Leon, not me!) in the office cum gift shop. Such an amazing experience here. Our Airbnb was canceled the day of our trip to Woodstock. Hotel Dylan to the rescue! The staff and manager were so accommodating and nice. They had a room available and then we were able to switch the two-story two-bedroom cottage for the next 2 nights. We loved both. The rooms are so cute and the cottage was like an Airbnb with a full kitchen. The amenities at the hotel are awesome. They have a bar that's open till about 6 pm, a pool, fire pits, ping pong tables and more. There's a cute cafe on the premises that's open on the Fri-Sun that makes a fab latte. There's also a Mexican restaurant that shares the parking lot with Hotel Dylan that had great tacos and margs. Throughout our stay the staff was very helpful and hospitable. A few days we left, we got a call that we left a personal item at the hotel, which they shipped directly to us the day they found it. We loved everything about our stay and can't rave about this place enough! read more

Visiting my cousin in Glenford, NY and needed a place to stay, she recommended the Hotel Dylan, although she never stayed there. To be honest when we first passed by it, there is a lot of construction going on and we weren't sure what to make of it, we almost ditched the place. But having seen the pictures online and then actually walking up to the place, I knew this was a good choice. The existing part of the hotel has all been redone. We got "The Havens" room which is on the second floor and has two Queen beds. Everything is brand new. Very clean and comfortable. Bathroom is beautiful, feels like you are in a spa. Little touches like cute pillows, a record player with records from the Woodstock era, an array of snacks (incl Vegan!) for purchase, an abundance of free coffee, Bustelo coffee, hot chocolate and green teas as well herbal soaps and shampoo for the shower added a little something-something every traveler is looking for. Many of the items found in your room can be purchased in the hotel gift shop. A little pricey, but I guess for the area that's to be expected. General Manager, Daryll Jack was on hand and talked with us about the expansion of the hotel which includes a spa in a country home they just built. Can't wait! A wonderful place to stay over the Thanksgiving break. The great interior is fitting and the layout and use of space is done well. Used the desk to take Zoom meetings. Spacious windows bring in the sunlight. The bed is comfy and I had a good night of sleep. Check in was super easy. The location is great-- close enough to the main part of Woodstock. The sound proofing inside is great, could not hear a peep from our neighbors or the outside traffic. We hope to return in the spring. read more

Just want to start with it's seriously such gorgeous/ cute hotel. The staff are SO nice and upon arrival they even give you a little s'mores kit! Rooms are clean and beautifully decorated BUT We booked a 2 bedroom and when we arrived we had no idea our room had a door that connected to the room next to us. We didn't think much of it until it was 11pm and we were trying to sleep and the people in the room next to us were playing music and talking/laughing so incredibly loud that if i didn't know any better i would've said they were IN our room. We could hear every single word they said, not even like it was a muffled loudness. And for $400 a night, we just felt that was kinda crazy. And I'm not one at all to complain or be confrontational AT ALL but this was kinda of unbearable to the point where i almost felt i had to go next door as say something. So this review is not at all to speak badly on hotel Dylan, we may have just been unlucky to be stuck next to a loud bunch & i know i saw other reviews stating this is a old building which i understand , but just consider this when booking that the walls are paper thin if you're someone who may not be able to tolerate this ‍ read more

The staff at Hotel Dylan is fabulous. I loved the Saturday morning yoga, the continental breakfast, which included lox and bagels, and the firepits with smores on weekend nights. Unfortunately, if you're staying during the week, you get none of this. On Monday morning, there was only decaf coffee available (yuck!). Luckily, a cute little coffee shack is next to the hotel, so I was able to get a good morning cup of joe. Try to get a room upstairs, as you can hear every footstep upstairs from the first floor. Sunday night we had an elderly couple above us who only slept 4-5 hours and were up early walking around their room for what seemed like hours. Sounded like a herd of elephants. All in all, this is a great place, but a bit far from town. read more

Had an amazing weekend at Hotel Dylan! The staff are wonderful & the hotel is clean & tidy with a very thoughtful, cosy feel - all the rooms are named after bands from 60s & 70s but done tastefully.. a collection of matching albums to play in each of rooms & awesome framed pictures of the Woodstock festival throughout the hotel. The weekend was organized as a surprise and the Hotel Dylan team went out of the way to put balloons & bottle of Champagne in our room. Thanks again - will definitely be coming back soon! BRAVO to the marketing team that hotel dylan employs to make its website, because it makes a converted trucker motel look like a secluded retreat. we booked a room for two nights thinking that we would be getting a relaxing getaway on a large piece of land surrounded by trees, hammocks, grass, and fire-pits, to just be disappointed as soon as we pulled up to a hotel directly on the highway. the fire-pit and pool that looked so tranquil and quaint on the website, were actually butted up to a tex-mex restaurant's parking lot adjacent to a busy highway. we couldn't relax while sitting outside because the sound of trucks and cars zooming by killed the mood. our room was super clean and well decorated...i will give them that. HOWEVER...if you want to sleep, do not book here. we heard every footstep, toilet flush, and fart the whole time we were there. there was no peace. i kind of thought the whole thing was a joke. we were charged boutique hotel prices for a place where we couldn't even sleep without ear plugs. to top it off, the bathroom smelled like a dusty queef of stale water after we showered...almost sulfur like. i'm not sure if this is common in the hudson valley, but it was disgusting. i won't be returning and i cannot recommend this place. read more

We found the location to be convenient to downtown Woodstock as well as many of the surrounding trails. We also loved all the extra touches like the records and record player in the room and cozy fire pit outside. I also want to give a shout out to Terri who sent us a slew of helpful links to local restaurants and music venues as well as welcoming us to the hotel as if we had been long time friends . we stayed here over saturday night, because we had a wedding nearby. the price felt a bit high but we assumed, given how new the motel was, that everything would be wonderful and worth it. we arrived at the front desk person was nice, though we did have to ask about amenities. she seemed rushed which was odd because the check-in area was totally empty aside from us. we asked about the pool and she said, oh yes. and gave us towels after signing a waiver. i also asked about a gym and apparently there was one for us across the street (which i did not use). i love that they have a salt water pool which was said to be heated but, on saturday, was not at all. we arrived in the 'jimi' room and the decor is totally sweet, kitsch but it smelled so strongly of chemicals. i looked around and found a toxic air freshner in the closet area. i swiftly wrapped it and put in drawer. i tried to open the front windows but they are sealed shut, so we kept the bathroom window open to get some fresh air. a little sad to be in beautiful upstate and not be able to open the windows. we left for wedding and came back around 9 to a sweet gesture of smores supplies on doors. we were tired so we didn't partake although there were folk strumming on guitars and hanging out, right outside our door near a fire pit. the lights right outside each room are SO BRIGHT and there was a person above us who was stomping around for most of the night, throwing up every few minutes and generally making it impossible to fall asleep. we tried putting the sound machine on but nothing worked. the walls are paper thin. i wish they would leave a phone in each room to link to office, so it would be easy to call them with a problem.. i also wish they wouldn't charge you for bottles of water, considering the cost of a night's stay. anyway, we made it through the night and had some breakfast before heading out. one of the owners, who was setting everything up, was very kind. the coffee was fine and the donuts fantastic. we left feeling confused by our stay. we really wanted to like it but in the end, we felt all the light, the toxic smells, the sounds of neighbors was really the opposite of peace and quiet we hope for when leaving nyc. read more

The rooms are nicely decorated and the staff are courteous BUT it is very noisy, right off route 28, has no service from 18:00 to 9:00 (you're on your own no matter what happens) and there are no amenities i.e. this is a motel and not a hotel as the name suggests. read more

My husband and two friends came here for a weekend trip. We arrived late at night and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Our room (the jimi) is SO cute! We just love the decor! We've been having fun playing the record player. There is an assortment of tea and coffee for the keurig machine. The beds are clean and comfy. The shower/bathroom is clean. We love the tiled shower stall so much that we took pics to model our home shower stall after it!! There is a fire pit outside and we had a great time making friends and hanging out outside at night with other people in the hotel. The walls are thin and I can hear people flushing the toilet and taking showers in the rooms surrounding us. I can also hear the people above us walking around and talking and I find it quite disturbing. Thin walls! Thin ceilings! Take this into consideration while booking! If you intend to relax in your room at all, this will be a problem. I should also mention that this hotel is not within walking distance of the town but it is only a short drive away. I read all the reviews about the sound and how annoying it was with passing cars and thin walls etc. But really, it wasn't an issue at all. I guess I could kind of hear cars, and the sound of water rush faintly when a toilet was flushed above, but nowhere enough to be bothered by it at all. The doors and windows keep about 90 percent of the sound out. It was such a nice hotel, the cool decor, the record player, the print on the wall and we had a couple of really nice meals at Santa Fe, the restaurant right in front of it (and a few margaritas). Staff were really nice, pool was awesome, sunsets in the big hammock with my girl. Would definitely return here. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Dylan for a night. We stayed during the week so the hotel was very quiet but the staff was very attentive and helpful. The hotel is a quick 10 min drive to the main shopping section of Woodstock and fairly close to Kingston. The rooms were clean and BEAUTIFUL and the bed was very comfortable. I do not take lightly the poor rating and review I must give Hotel Dylan. However, this experience was truly disappointing, and we left a day early. The place is situated very poorly for access to the rooms, from an uneven gravel parking lot, where luggage doesn't roll and needs to be carried. One single old fashioned metal door key is provided - that's it. Entered a room that heat was blasting on highest setting, with an uncooperative thermostat, and a very unhelpful, condescending manager, Darryl. Room was poorly equipped, small fridge but no microwave in their largest "suite" room. No place in bathroom to set toiletries, not even a shelf for toothbrush, etc. Bedside tables made of cheap metal, awkward to place items, and noisy. Several lights and/or switches were not working. Comfort was simply not a factor in choosing room decor, instead silly kitsch items randomly laid about, intending to evoke hippie culture, but misses the mark by a mile. TV not working. No toilet paper in bathroom. No refund for early departure, and very expensive room for what you are getting. We explored other options while enjoying the town, and found every place a better value than Hotel Dylan. Will NEVER return to this place. Be very suspicious of the glowing reviews sprinkled in this site - one is led to wonder about their veracity. read more

If you're looking for a Hamptons or North Fork alternative getaway consider heading to the Hudson Valley Region and particularly the Hotel Dylan in Woodstock, NY! My mom and I discovered this newly opened gem when we decided to plan a last minute weekend getaway from the NYC area. The hotel was designed by the famous Novogratz design duo. The rooms feature unique furnishings with a retro vibe. Original photos taken at the Woodstock festival in 1969 line the walls and each room features a record player. Each room is well appointed with comfy beds, a keurig, C.O. Bigelow bath amenities, and a fridge. The hotel features free WiFi and I was pleasantly surprised that the wifi signal and cell service was perfect throughout my whole trip (I heard it could be spotty in the area). We enjoyed an evening lounging around their outdoor fire pit and watching "The Last Waltz" with other guests over wine and snacks. It was very relaxing and a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC. They plan to open a spa and a gastropub style restaurant with a live music performance space on the property soon. I definitely plan to return and to bring friends for a girls getaway and my husband for a romantic weekend away. Definitely check it out! read more

Loved the stay and the vibe. Newly renovated, rooms are clean and attractively decorated with a mid-Century modern feel. Each room has a record player and some vinyl as well as a well-curated selection of art books about rock and roll bands and icons. Owner-managers are on-site, and very engaged; I met them at the continental breakfast on Sunday. The CB was delicious and presented a mystery as to how they got such excellent bagels so far from NYC. My daughter is attending college in the area and I look forward to staying again many times in the future. As an aside, the restaurant located pretty much on-site, Sante Fe, has excellent upscale Tex-Mex cuisine. read more

Hoping that it wouldn't be booked, we contacted The Dylan for a last-minute overnight getaway. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a room available and Karen the manager was extremely accommodating in setting us up with a suite (The Band Suite). For the caliber of the accommodations the rate was quite reasonable. Upon walking into the main office it is clear that this isn't your run-of-the-mill hotel. They've managed to accomplish a 60s Woodstock vibe while at the same time being modern and chic. We were convinced we were the first to stay in The Band suite, it was so clean and it was definitely the best decorated hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was an awesome duplex with memorabilia from the Woodstock era, plus high end decor and fixtures. They even had a record player with a solid selection of vinyl. They have a Mexican restaurant on the property, unfortunately it was closed on Monday's but we would've loved to have tried it. Other reviews seem to indicate that it's quite good.
