The hotel seems recently renovated as everything seems new or in excellent condition. The room is spacious and well maintained. The bathroom and show tub were clean, neat and bright. It was a surprised to see two TVs in the room: one in the living room area and another one by the beds. My kids were so happy to be able to watch their channels while my husband and I watched something else. The complimentary breakfast was great. Some hot food choices, cereals and bakery items. The gentleman who worked in the breakfast area was very friendly and he checked on supplies quite often. Everything was refilled promptly. They even had a work station in the lobby. Overall we had a great experience during our stay.

She took my cell number and said she'd let us know when the room was ready and we decided to soak up the A/C in the front lobby for a bit. 3:30 p.m. and... nothing yet so we opted to hit the town to explore and when we got the text we would come back. 5 p.m. and... still no text but we circled back figuring the room must be good-to-go by now. A different lady behind the counter seemed to make it like it was on us for the delay/issue. (So not cool, let's be real.) The room? Clean. The bathroom? Clean. The beds and pillows? Comfy, all around. The TV? Kind of weird... sometimes the picture blacked out, sometimes it went haywire, sometimes it was a-okay for a spell. Okay, we can live with (all of) this. (Even if our 'view' was the parking lot and Target across yonder.) Later we decided to snoop around. Gym - clean with a few machines, a bench and plenty of dumbbells. The pool was chilly and ridiculously chlorinated. (You might think I'm exaggerating but the next day the black drawstring on my boardshorts were now brown from the amount of chemicals I was wading through. No joke.) The hot tub was... kind of warm. We hit the lobby-lounge later in the evening for drinks and they had a decent selection of beers (all "the classics") as well as Starbucks, water, soda, some snacks, the usual. Check-out the following morning was easy-peasy. I'm not against returning in the future but I do think we'd see what else is in the area first.

But something about being here during winter was...magical. High class, intimate, romantic place for your partner and you to have a quiet getaway. The bar has fun cocktails both in the mansion and at the pavilion. The food was PHENOMENAL. My favorite was the truffle fries. They actually used real shaved truffle on top instead of just truffle oil like a lot of other places, so I appreciate the commitment to the craft. Complimentary breakfast was *chefs kiss*. Fun night time hangout at the fire pits with s'mores and brick oven pizza all night. I need to come back and stay in those cabins, I stayed in the mansion and it was the best sleep I've had in months. But you know what the stand out feature was? The staff. From the greeters, to the bartenders, to the management, they really made you feel special. Efficient, attentive, warm and welcoming. After another call to the front desk, Lindsay immediately returned to this new room to problem solve. Once she determined, she could not fix it, she sent the repair person who quickly brought us a new tv. Lindsay and the other front desk staff handled everything very professionally and for that reason alone, we felt good about our stay and did not leave with a negative opinion of this hotel.

Any Inn or B&B, the owners open their establishment, makes you feel at home with a warm cup of coffee along with something freshly baked from their oven. When I checked in, I was told via text there is none of that because of the pandemic. We find that to be an excuse because we just left a B&B in Cold Spring that had everything! It's a bunch of nonsense, the owners could have baked and individually wrapped things. Just like the B&B in Cold Spring.... Oh wait, we were served a sit down breakfast. And coffee! What a concept. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm thinking I can get a few tips about the area. The door was locked so I rang the bell. I'm assuming its the owner who answered the door. I tell him I know I'm early, I'm looking for a few things to do locally. He said there is nothing here to show but I can send you a text? Ok.. The town of Rhinebeck is very cute, there are shops that are open while walking around. We had a glass of wine and some charcuterie while passing the time. Once it's 3pm, we were sent a text for the door code. Walking inside, The Gables Of Rhinebeck is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It also seems we are the only guests based on the parking lot out back. And the parking lot only has room for 3 cars? Our room is drop dead gorgeous. The bedding is adorned with a beautiful quilt. It's a suite so there is a nice sitting area. I walked downstairs to the empty parlor, grabbed two wine glasses and opened a bottle of wine that I brought from home. The bathroom, there was a lack of shelf space for our toiletries. Its a large space with a claw foot cast iron tub, very pretty. I had plans to sit outside after dinner and smoke a cigar. The lights weren't on, there is no one to ask and at that point, I really didn't care. I'm ready to leave and that is just a shame. It's not the feeling you want your guests to have when they leave. Do you agree? I asked about breakfast the next day in a text. Coffee? Oatmeal? Anything? Nothing I'm told in a text. The restaurant next door opens at 8am. Mention we're guests at The Gables Of Rhinebeck and well receive 20% off our bill. The restaurant at 8:50am was closed. At this point we jump in the car and leave. While I'm sitting down in another town, I text them saying the restaurant wasn't open at 8 or 8:30. They text back: OMG there is Bread Alone and so many other restaurants in the area that we could have chose. Overall, this was a sucky stay and I'm glad it was just for one night. They charged a premium price for the Bed but not the Breakfast?! And they weren't hospitable! Yeah OMG.

Unfortunately, it's changed over to the Roadway Inn, the once great on site restaurant is closed and the property is showing signs of neglect. Needs improvement, they seem to have people living in the building and the little house directly behind the hotel, the house had debris all over the yard and even the roof of the house. They need to clean this property up and do some much needed updates.

For the Whole hotel, was capped at 30 MBPS. There were so many people in the hotel sharing the bandwidth, naturally my Wi-Fi was horrible. Fortunately, I had plenty of data, and I was able to use my phone as a hotspot. I went next-door to the super 8, for a couple of nights and I continuously had Wi-Fi in excess of 60MBPS. It's a sad thing, when a super. 8, has better Wi-Fi, than the best Western plus hotel and conference center.

The location is great though. Check out was ok, the person behind the desk didn't know how to smile. Maybe he was new but zero personality.
