A lovely rainy day in the mountains spent with vegetable soup, potato rosti, a view and the best service!

Amazing views and excellent food. This is a great spot to enjoy an evening cocktail or dinner as the sun goes down. Absolutely wonderful experience.

Spaghitti, skip it looks far better than it tasted.

7/13/2024 - We arrived here today via many small train rides and a lift here. We located this restaurant for the view but we didn't have a good view. We ordered a pizza and a spaghetti. The pizza was good and we split it. They actually cut the pizza in half and served ours separately. I loved that. The spaghetti was very plain and below average. We ordered their homemade apple strudel and were hoping for something spectacular. It was subpar. Go here for the pizza and a table by the windows for the view. Anything other than no view I would skip this place. About 60 Swiss Francs. Please see the photos. This place takes cards and cash for payment. They do not take AMEX, but cash and MC or Visa.

Pizza crust was under cooked and flavorless.

Great views with average food. The waiter from Spain was such a nice person and lots of fun. It's a shame they can't up their food quality.

Breaded Pork Steak, aka pork schnitzel.

RESTAURANT REVIEW: I had the Swiss Pork Steak, with I would refer to as pork schnitzel. It was a lightly coated piece of pork, with noodles and vegetables. My wide had a large mixed salad, and a bowl of Hungarian Goulash, which was more of a meat-based soup. We both enjoyed the meals. For dessert, we split a piece of apple strudel on vanilla cream sauce that looked better than it tasted. Service was professional, but not particularly friendly. Two qualifiers to this restauant: 1. The view from outside would be a 85 on a scale of 1 to 5. It's just not possible to have better view of the mountains. 2. We were charged 5 Francs (almost $6.00 for TAP water (NOT) bottled water. I don't remember seeing this on the menu, and the waitress just shrugged when I questioned it. Keep in mind, this is a town that has flowing water spigot of water from the mountains. Restaurants need to stop having needless charges that tend to ruin the experience.

PROS: The views are spectacular. I mean, wow! Service was nice, overall, and pretty good. Another positive is that the menu notes allergies! As a celiaque, I truly appreciate this. CONS: We had to ask for a menu when the waiter came by to take our order. He brought 1 menu for 2 of us. I guess they ration here. I had to go and get a second menu for myself. We overheard another table asking for another set of silverware. Apparently, they charge for extra silverware (perhaps a sharing charge would be more appropriate). You are allocated silverware and 1 small paper napkin. We were put off from asking for another paper napkin. They also charge 5 CHF for a carafe of water. This was off-putting. I mean, we ordered 2 full meals. Water being charged was really a money grab at that point. My husband's hamburger was from a frozen patty. Which is OK , but not for what they charge. My roti was ok as well. Food quality, taste, and value take last ranking place from all we have eaten on our European trip. Finally, I'm not sure I liked being asked to leave a tip when they bring the bill and payment box. I recommend that you come here for the views, and order a couple of drinks. Pass on food and water. By the way, I overheard the waiter tell the next table there is a minimum 30 CHF charge for credit card use, and they do not accept Amex. Just an fyi.

Cozy place to write your travel notes.

Hopping off the train on a drizzly afternoon, we walked out into beautiful Mürren! Hotel Edelweiss is perched on the edge of a cliff and overlooking an unbelievable scene of snow-capped peaks and mountains, clouds, para gliders, and deep valley. It has a lovely restaurant, a less formal restaurant and an outdoor patio. Our room had a view out to the mountains that was spectacular. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of storage for bags and clothes. It's a special place to stay!

    The view from our balcony!!

Delicious food, amazing staff and the room had a Million dollar view! We would definitely recommend to check this place out. From the giant rain shower shower heads to the perfect continental breakfast, this place is perfect. The staff made several recommendations that were 'golden' and were able to meet several special requests.

    Hotel view.

Great food, service and that view?!? OMG. Slept well and the location provided easy access to the village itself, train station, cable cars. Lovely hotel.

Some finished ice cream and hot chocolate

The best ice cream ever with a panoramic view of the Swiss alps!! Our server was friendly and the bathrooms are VERY clean, which we appreciated. I would come back here for food because I'm sure it's delicious based off of the ice cream we had. Note: You have to pay with cash if your bill is under 30CHF!

My husband enjoyed the Swiss veal steak- they actually give you a hot stone and you continue cooking the meat to your liking.
    Toma T.

This place offers the most breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps! We were seated on the patio overlooking the mountains. The service was amazing. I ordered a Hawaiian pizza and my husband ordered the Swiss veal steak. Both dishes were delicious- high quality ingredients well put together. The entire experience was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

A beer with the most beautiful view in the world
    Roman K.

This place could have served me a steaming turd on a plate, and I would still give it 5 stars based solely on the view! Luckily for me, the food was just as good as the view! I ordered a beef fillet with some potatoes and my friend ordered a venison fillet. Both come out mostly rare on a hot stone. You get to finish cooking the meat to perfection at the table while taking in the scenery. I thought the beef fillet was exceptional but the venison fillet was out of this world! The food is relatively pricey by American standards, but remember that this is a remote part of Switzerland and the $150 that we spent together was well worth it. Even if you are not hungry, I recommend stopping over and enjoying a beer with what is quite literally the most beautiful view in the world!

So, my sister and I, the unofficial "booking agents" for our family trip finally said piss on it and went with the "cheapest" family-option we could find in Murren. I'm not going to say the price because it's slightly embaressing given we had a shared bathroom...but for the sake of curiosity, think luxury hotel in America. Despite our desperate splurge on what would be comparable to a national park/no frills establishment in the US, there were many perks to staying at Hotel Regina. 1.) Murren is the perfect-sized village - small enough to be tremendously quiet at night (so much in fact, we could hear the waterfalls outside our mountainview windows at night - - the waterfalls were all the way across the valley!!!), yet, big enough to have a mini grocery, stash of restaurants and plenty of starting points for hiking. Note: I highly recommend the route down to Gimmelwald and from there down another level to the bottom of the valley. 2.) Spacious mountain view porches with big windows and doors facing out towards a drop off (both open so you can let the outdoors in). 3.) A delicious and traditional complimentary Swiss breakfast complete with muesli, multiple cheeses, fruits and cereal. Not to mention, that the bright and airy room breakfast is served is breathtaking. 4.) Free wifi in the lobby - but who needs internet with they're in the Alps? 5.) The rooms, in my opinion, are gorgeous in a natural and simple way that beats out a fancy hotel any day.

As an engineer, I'm always focused on what can be improved so let's begin with the bad list: (1) No lift or elevator so if you're elderly, handicapped, or injured it won't be much fun. (2) There's no air conditioning so our room was uncomfortable in the 81°F temperature. There are no fans in the rooms and no window screens to keep bugs out so there aren't many options out there to stay cool. (3) The 220 volt switches that controlled the light fixture and exhaust fan in the bathroom were located within the shower stall. There's no planet in our solar system where that would be considered safe as these are not GFCI protected circuits. (4) Some of the 220 volt receptacles in our room had wall plates that would spin which made it difficult to plug into. (5) The filter on our bathroom exhaust fan revealed a lack of maintenance. (6) My room included a chain smoker on the next balcony over so I was unable to enjoy any time on the balcony. There were good things too but just not enough to elevate us out of the 2-star rating: (1) The views from the mountain side were stunning but we mainly have God to thank for that rather than the hotel. (2) The bacon cheeseburgers in the restaurant were very good although expensive. (3) The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and skilled.

While it's a "hotel" it felt more like a very high quality, homey, and personable BnB. We booked the suite (would've fit 2 adults and 2 kids) because we decided last minute (3 days) to do an ad hoc trip to Murren due to great recommendations from friends and coworkers. It was a bit pricy but we bit the bullet because it was just so highly rated. First, the staff at the hotel were just so incredibly nice and friendly! She noticed we were only 2 people and offered to just lock the door to the room with the bunk beds and give us a cheaper rate! She also walked us through what was in the area, and gave us great trail recommendations (we went on the one she suggested and it was exactly what we were looking for). The room itself (at least the suite) looked like an apartment - when you enter there's a small hallway with a bathroom on the right, a few steps later the main bedroom is on the left, with a second bedroom with what I assume are the bunk bed on the right (we couldn't confirm since it was locked). Everything was beautifully decorated, pristine, spacious and just perfect. Connected to the master bedroom is a small balcony - and WOW! The views were absolutely spectacular. It felt unreal - from the trees, to the vast mountains in the distance that varied from green terrains to snowy white. There's also a small restaurant downstairs ran by the same owners as the hotel serving homemade Swiss food that was easily the best restaurant food we've had this entire trip (but that's for another review :P). They also served continental breakfast which was a blend of amazing pastries, fresh fruits, juices, cured meats, cereals and more. I love love LOVE this place and only wish we could've stayed longer.
