Rosti with Swiss cheese, egg and bacon
    Amy S.

We stopped in recently after hiking through the valley and visiting Staubbach and Trummlebach Falls. Our hostess/waitress was the most friendly person I think we met in our trip throughout Europe. So warm and welcoming! We chose to eat outside in the charming Swiss alp atmosphere with a view of Stabbach Falls. Our meal here was also probably our favorite of our entire trip! We got the salad and the Rosti with Swiss cheese and bacon.

This place was great! The food was fantastic! Carrot ginger soup was tasty and hot. The pizzas were delicious! The chili oil for the pizza is tasty. The trucker Rösti and pork brat with Rösti was the best we've had on this trip! You can't beat the views! So glad we made a day trip to Lauterbrunnen!

    Prosecco Berry Ice Cream

We stopped here for dessert, which was a great choice. We tried the apple strudel, the Bailey's sundae, and the Prosecco berry ice cream, and all 3 were delicious. The apple strudel came with a vanilla cream, ice cream, and whipped cream. Reminded me of the strudels in Vienna. All were a large portion. The staff was very friendly, and the waterfall and Wengen views from the patio were beautiful. Make reservations if you're going in for dinner, it gets crowded.

Went here for drinks but ended up eating here. Ordered some local beers, salad and goulash and garlic bread. Service was good, beautiful location and food was good.

    Fondue!!

Our favorite restaurant in Lauterbrunnen. We figured it must be good since it fills up for dinner time a lot of nights. I recommend calling and making a reservation, even if it's the same day. Sit outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery. They have warm blankets on the chairs on colder nights, which we thought was a nice touch. The fondue was not as good as other fondue we had in Switzerland, but maybe because we got the traditional version instead of a more flavorful one. I did appreciate that it came with potatoes, bread, and a little array of garlic, scallions, mushrooms, and onions that could be tossed in if you wanted. It also comes with a side salad ahead of time. The chocolate fondue dessert was my favorite thing I had here along with the AMAZING almond??? Hazelnut? ice cream I had. It was some variety of a nut flavor. The bratwurst sausage entree with rosti is delicious as well. Our servers were super nice both nights that we came to eat, even on the night that we arrived an hour early for our reservation! The food is pricey here, but pretty average for a restaurant in Switzerland.

Oberland Rosti. Potato cheesey bacon eggy breakfast thing. Yummmmmmm
    Steve A.

The Oberland Rosti is NOT just hash browns. It is potataoes with cheese but it is not like eating hash browns. It really was a delicious breakfast meal that will fill you up and is surely enough for two people. If the food was NOT excellent, the restaurant would not be packed ... and when we visited, there was a short wait because the place was full. The good obviously is delicious. It's not the end all and be all, but the menu offers some very nice options. The rosti is 24 francs so I would suggest you split it with a friend. It is ample. Great server. Host seemed a little grumpy because they were so busy. (Be happy you're popular, sir.) We sat inside but I would suggest you sit outside even if it's cool because the view is amazing ... and they provide blankets outside. It's a do-over for me!

OK. Pizza isn't typical Swiss food, but nothing else not the menu really appealed to me. Melted cheese and bread cubes for $25 x 2; nah. Not my thing and way overpriced for bread and cheese. Reminds me too much of breakfast. The pizza was tasty but a little plain. I was hoping that the mushrooms would really shine, but no... The cheese was nice mozzarella - and the crust wasn't burned or anything like that. It just wasn't special. Maybe I'm expecting too much for a $20 pizza? Anyway, the cold beer was great after a long, hot day. But I probably won't be dining here again. a little too touristy for me.

    Raclette or omelette? You decide.

This killed my tastebuds. What can I say, the food was pretty terrible and expensive despite the good reviews and number of reservations placed here. We ordered the pizza margarita, raclette, and some bratwurst with rösti. The raclette was not even a raclette. We received a pan of melted cheese with everything in it, including the pickled vegetables. The result looked like an omelette and the cheese wouldn't stick to the potatoes anyway because it wasn't a raclette! The pizza margarita was pretty terrible, worse in flavor than even some pizza chains in the US. The bratwurst with rösti was quite flavorless with an overpowering saltiness. Salt is not a spice, okay? The service was okay and the ambiance was nice, but it certainly cannot make up for the terrible food.

Everything we ate here was so delicious. So many delicious sauces to go with each meal. The schnitzel with mushroom comes with a delicious gravy. The Bratwurst with rösti was amazing and comes with a delicious gravy with onions. The trucker rösti was also great, almost like a lasagna. For dessert I had an apple streusel which was also great with a delicious custard. I'll say, our waitress was not the friendliest but that's okay, the food was so delicious I'll be dreaming of it when I'm back home.

    Cheese fondue for two

Great little lunch spot while exploring the stunning town of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland! Highlights - Swiss hot chocolate and cheese fondue for two. The fondue comes with a nice little side salad, bread, potatoes, garlic, and mushrooms.

We stopped here for lunch one afternoon in June looking for some Swiss food. I was pleasantly surprised by the fondue and additions! We enjoyed a house salad before indulging in our fondue. The salad was light and refreshing but if you are used to hearty starter salads I would caution you to get something else. This salad was 95% lettuce and a light dressing. The fondue came with fresh onion, garlic, chives, and mushrooms to add to the mealy cheese if you wish. We poured it all in! It was splendid. Served with bread cubes and potatoes to drench in the cheesy goodness. Service was quick and very friendly. If you come in good weather, sit outside! The view is breathtaking. Glad to have supported the business.

Hidden gem of a restaurant with beautiful views. Service was great and the ambiance was beautiful. Got the rösti and soup of the day, it was amazing!

The menu for outside is pretty simple, with four different fondue options (classic, champagne, paprika, and herb flavored) as well as a few salad and drink options. Once we were seated, we were greeted by a friendly waiter named Adam. While the menu was all in German, Adam very patiently explained all of the different dishes on the menu to us. We decided on ordering the champagne fondue and herb fondue, which both serve two people. The food came pretty quickly and was served with bread and potatoes. We ordered the two fondue pots for four people, but in hindsight, it was more than enough. Both fondues were very good; however, I prefer the champagne option as it was slightly less salty. I would still recommend both these options and thought the fondue was excellent. The texture and consistency was very smooth and did not feel too heavy. Overall, I had a great experience here. The one note that I will make about the place is that it was a little on the pricier side, but that is to be expected. I would definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant of you are in Thun for the day.
