What happened to well prepared for that is not all tarted up and waiting for the Michelin guy to come by? Don't get me wrong. The hallway to get to our room WAS LOOONG. I mean I almost needed a car to get there. You had to go down 3 separate very long halls to get there after the elevator. The room I had was small but clean and with a good bed. The bathroom and shower were on the smaller side, but not a model from the latest seasons. The breakfast contains - as many have pointed out before - a really great, fresh selection in their buffet. The downside is that the wifi is not the fastest with a login procedure that worked better and quicker on my laptop than my phone. If I'm going to Malmö on another business trip and where I need a room to sleep and good breakfast but not much of other amenities this is a place I'll return to. But it's not a place I'd chose for a romantic getaway to Malmö.

Disappointing. -Weird system re. room keys - guests are asked to leave their key with the front desk when leaving the building, however not asked for ID when coming back to pick it up. We only stayed for 3 days so I'd be very surprised if the staff (which rotated) remembered which room we were staying in. I don't mind dropping off the key but wish the system for picking them up was more secure - I got the feeling it would be easy for someone to walk in off the street, say a random room number, and get access to the room. Other -There's a breakfast offered in the restaurant downstairs but the cost is NOT included in the stay. We ate elsewhere which we thought was better value. -Rooms are very basic - slightly older furnishings, no fridge, coffeemaker etc (common in Europe). Our room did have a small safe for passport/valuables. -The main elevator is older and very small (max 3 people). We didn't use it, just took the stairs to the second floor, but something to be aware if you are looking for an accessible hotel. -Location on Aboulevard is decent. It's a loud/busy street but lots of hidden gems in terms of bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walking radius. Short walk (10 minutes) to Forum metro stop.

If not the gym is on the top floor so the views can also be enjoyed from there. The hotel has been renovated but still has an old and stuffy feel to it in many public areas. The upstairs (2nd floor) restaurant has however been nicely renovated but for some reason it appears it's only used for breakfast. The entrance level restaurant is used in the evenings and that totally lacks charm and that is still the best aorta of it as the food is barely fit for human consumption. It is actually amazing that they can be so bad - they have totally failed with simple dishes like burger, steak and caesar salad. What makes it even more strange is that they serve a really good breakfast so it must be intentionally lowering ambitions and quality during evenings. The rooms are most of time large, light and airy. The bed comfortable and the bathroom fairly newly renovated. Dislike the big bottles of shower gel and shampoo - understand the environmental aspect but I like the small little bottles. The gym is nice and modern and actually has decent equipment. The service is very much up and down and it does tend to be busy at times so can be a wait at checkout especially.
