Andrew mentions "an amazing gym" but the gym (at least when we were there) is NOT part of the hotel (it's attached to the hotel) and guests do not automatically have access to it. I don't know if this is a change between when he was there in 2024 and when we were there in September of this year. Like many of these fancy hotels, the lobby is very pretty. However, it's a weird hotel. They don't have a main desk. Instead, they "encourage" people to do self-check in, even to extent that they make their own room keys! They have a bunch of kiosks to do this. As an alternative, they have a people with tablets that can check you in (which we did). However, it's the room that really bothered me. Let's start with something important to all guests: toilet paper. Well, not the toilet paper itself, but the lack of even ONE backup roll. This is not something you want to discover. When I called down to the desk (or operator), I was told that I needed to pick it up myself. There were no tissues. There wasn't any folder or information about the hotel. Instead you can scan a QR code, but that only takes you to their very unhelpful website (which stated that their restaurant, Blue Elephant, was closed -- it was open!) There was no clock, no space for clothes. Our view was the top of the attached casino -- ugly as sin. In short, the room was pretty bad.

Truly the best hotel gym I have ever experienced - Breakfast - Fantastic and fresh selection of fruit, yoghurt, breads, hot dishes, cheeses, cold cuts, coffee. The not so good - Housekeeping was very hit and miss. On my last day housekeeping came at 6:00pm. Sometimes toiletries were restocked, sometimes not. - Location - meh, close'ish to downtown but there are better hotels actually downtown. The Bad - The lounge bar/restaurant - Food was very subpar. Service just downright sucked. Took over 1 hr for an app, 90 mins to get a main. And it was barely edible. Really frustrating after a long day of travel - Never asked if I wanted to authorize my card at check in which I am very used to. So when I tried to charge a drink to room I then had to go to reception (spent 10 mins in line) to ask to authorize my card so I could do room charges - Elevators cannot cope when there is a conference going on in the hotel. Be prepared to ride up to get down. - Overall customer service. Calling down to reception/guest services was pointless. Never answered. Other - The staff when you did interact seemed overwhelmed and under trained.

Poor Customer Service and Zero Flexibility After Accidental Cancellation…read more Accidentally canceled a reservation through Expedia and immediately contacted both Expedia and the hotel within minutes trying to reinstate it. Despite the stay being weeks away and rooms still available, customer service has been extremely unhelpful and nearly impossible to reach directly. Emails bounce back, communication is poor, and there seems to be zero flexibility or effort to assist paying customers after an honest mistake involving a $700+ reservation. Very disappointing experience before even arriving at the hotel.

But, with the stunning views of Copenhagen, modern vibe, unique architecture, even views of the water, downtown, old rooftops, windmills (yep)..... I'm impressed with this bar. There's really no other bar at this level and height to treat you to this panoramic experience. Drinks are not consistent so I've resolved myself to, aquavit, Schnapps, Danish/Sandinavian beer. Can't go wrong with those and if you're ok with the above this place is fun to end your day just before the sunsets at 10pm in summer. Service: It's common in Copenhagen to wave at your wait person to get attention, in a resto, a bar, a store. I used to think this is not good but it is what it is. Unless you are at a Michelin restaurant, wait staff do expect you to ask for help by waving them to come over or asking. It is a service philosophy that I've learned to accept. Visits: many Tip: You don't have to be a guest at the AC Bella Hotel to enjoy this bar. It's open after 10:30am - until 11pm. And a shout out to my yelpie Bridget W. and my trippy Mette for both cluing me onto this veritable hostel paradise! THE SETUP So what happened is on my flight out of Stockholm, Sweden, I ended up with a one (1) day layover in Copenhagen before going on to San Francisco. Now, this was PLANNED - I knew I had the layover: it was either this or pay $400 more for the next least expensive round trip between San Francisco and Stockholm (and back). As it turned out, I was already spending 10 days in the Baltic States with friends, hitting Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Finland. Unfortunately, there was no time in that itinerary to hit Denmark (nor Norway, for that matter, though technically, although also part of "Scandinavia", Norway is not a Baltic state). So an extra stop on the return leg in Copenhagen for a full day presented itself to me and I was happy to take it. DOWNTOWN DISTRICT AND CLOSE TO AIRPORT As soon as I jetted back into Copenhagen Airport (my 2nd time here in addition to my 1st two (2) hour layover in this airport on way to Stockholm), I jumped into the rail-car at the adjacent train station. Not more than 12 mins, I was at the downtown Central Train Station, and only a block and a half from Urban House! And most of the time I would be on a walk-a-bout and not in the room anyways, so I didn't want to waste my money there. The room didn't have a TV anyways - entertainment was outside of the room. ENTERTAINMENT! ..and speaking of entertainment, Urban House had a full-on bar / cafe / "Student Union"-feel open area at street level. In fact, the guy serving beers, took a quick break so he could check me in. The gal that was serving breakfast the next day was the one who checked me out: as it turns out, a good consolidation of tasks combined in their multi-talented staff. I ventured out in the afternoon and evening (twice actually) to grab some excellent Thai food back in the Train Station. And then again to a bar a few blocks away that was hosting a Jazz festival. There was plenty to do, places to eat, immerse oneself into the night life, all within blocks of Urban House. No car needed. THE ROOM As mentioned no TV, but that was not missed. I would just comment that for the price I would think the furniture would be more updated. I would stay here again because of the location.
