If you're looking for an affordable hotel close to Heathrow Airport, I can't recommend the Ibis enough. Being a musician, I stay in hotels a lot, and my experience here was such a pleasure that it prompted me to write my first hotel review.
My Wife & I needed a cheap place to crash for one night that was close to the airport, and what we got exceeded our expectations by leaps & bounds. The rooms were small, but cozy, tastefully done in a modern decor, and a very comfortable bed.
The lobby area is a large open space tastefully sectioned to function as a bar/restaurant/lounge, an intimate meeting place, as well as containing the check-in desk.
There was even a large interactive touch device where you could pull up a map, search restaurants and other local businesses,, email postcards, check weather, etc. Very cool!
The ultra modern decor was both hip as well as inviting. There are also tables with umbrellas out front where we sat & had a cocktail as it was a beautiful evening. The staff was extremely helpful & very friendly, from check in, to bartenders, breakfast buffet help, to check out, even calling us a cab to the airport that only took about 5 minutes to get there. Outstanding!
Which brings me back to the breakfast buffet. Being vegans, we had very low expectations for breakfast. Thinking that we'd probably have to suffice with some fruit & unbuttered toast as is usually the case in most hotels, we were excited to see fried tomatoes & mushrooms, beans, & hash browns in addition to breads, rolls, fruit, etc.
Overall, a wonderful experience with quality & service that was top notch for a hotel in any price range. It helped rejuvenate us for our trip back to NY. If I need a room near the airpot again, I will definitely come back here. Highly recomended! read more
