This is my least liked Marriott property around Heathrow. I would recommend staying elsewhere unless the price is right. We were flying back from Italy to the US and had an overnight layover, so we booked a single night here using a free night certificate I get from Marriott. This property is about a mile and a half from Terminal 5 at LHR, but it takes about 15 mins to get there via the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus was quick to find at the terminal and the next day when we left, it was pretty much on time to pick us up at the airport. It costs about 15eu for a couple for the ride each way, you pay when boarding the bus. Checking in was easy, quick, and very friendly. My stay came with a full breakfast, due to my status with Marriott. The property's lobby and common areas were really nice, so was the concierge lounge, which was fully stocked and open very late in the evening. The room looked decent, but there were no USB outlets and not a lot of AC outlets near the bed. The TV remote didn't work, so we couldn't use the TV. The bathroom in the room was horrible and small. The tub was literally 3 feet high that you needed to step to get over the edge and into the tub, which is very dangerous for a handicapped and/or elderly person to get in and out of. The water was very difficult to operate (turn on/off). The towels were terrible and the entire bathroom was tiny. The breakfast the next morning was amazing... large buffet and service was decent. Overall, I'd not stay here again simply because of the terrible bathroom, but the rest of the property was decent. read more

Stayed here on an extended layover in Heathrow recently. Aside from the convenience of it being so close to the airport that you can watch the planes taking off from your windows, there is nothing good about this property. Housekeeping was terrible and the shower/bath area was not cleaned properly. Food options aren't great and the business lounge was a sad little room. This hotel was listed on Time Out's 'best airport hotels' and while that's not why we picked this hotel, I would think twice about Time Out's lists from now on.. read more

I'm going to explain why I rated this hotel so highly, I promise! Near the airport! Check. Approximately £14 by taxi to get here. Would have been almost that for both of us to take the train. On first appearance, I was cringing. They need to do something with the outside appearance if only to pressure wash the algae off. The lobby interior is spacious and well decorated. Staff greeted us and checked us in promptly. They also recognized our feather allergy and status. Upgrade to the top floor. Lounge access. Nonalcoholic drinks and snacks all day. Happy hour from 5-7. Plus we get breakfast in the lounge. Are you kidding me? We are making money by staying here. The rooms are small and dated. But you can tell that they have made some improvements. Bottom line is it is clean. There is no dust on the baseboards, no algae, mold or soap scum anywhere in the bathroom. And I look! Not only is it conveniently located to the airport but you can hop on the train and get anywhere in down town London you want to go in 45 minutes or less. Staff is friendly and helpful. The Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel is a fantastic choice whether you are on a layover, dealing with a cancelled flight, or just looking for a comfortable staycation. I had a quick work meeting and did not want to stay in central London, so I opted for one night near LHR. The location is incredibly convenient, with buses leaving the Central Heathrow Bus Station every ten minutes and reaching the hotel in under ten minutes. I personally prefer the public buses over the Heathrow Hoppa Bus because they are quicker and easier to use. The front desk team was wonderful. I called ahead to request an early check-in, and while it depends on availability, they were polite, professional, and accommodating. The beds are pure comfort, like sinking into clouds after a long international flight. In the middle of my stay, I realized how much thought went into every detail, from the strong water pressure in the shower to the reliable Wi-Fi and wide TV channel selection. The rooms also have mini-fridges, which is always a nice touch. If you are craving a quick meal, there is a McDonald's across the street that hits the spot after a long day of travel. The gym is impressive and far more spacious than most airport hotels. Excellent Airport Hotel Renaissance Heathrow offers great value, a friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable rooms with precision climate control and a convenient location. Their Club Sandwich is the best I ever had. I went down to the bar to ask for a glass of ice. I was offered (and given) a whole bucket full. If you have ever traveled much overseas, you will appreciated how hard it is to get even a couple of ice cubes at a European hotel. I'm a Marriott fan, so whenever I get to stay in one, I will. I also have a rule that when I travel, the last night if available, I stay in a Marriott, just because I know, 95% of the time, it will be comfortable. I booked this hotel because I was flying into Heathrow at 10pm and flying out the next day at 12:30. I booked an upgraded room with a runway view. What I got was barely an apology, and an excuse that British Airways passengers had missed connections and they arrived before me, but I'll get a room. As a Marriott Lifetime Titanium Elite, I actually expect the room I booked, but I understand, things happen and I only needed a comfortable room for less than 8 hours. What did I get... a key to the executive lounge that was still open at 11:30 with snacks and water, and a room with a view of a parking lot at the same price I paid for in advance for the upgraded room. I didn't complain, I was leaving in the morning and I knew, no one would listen. So now for the hotel... it needs a MAJOR refurbish. I felt like I was back in the 90's. The carpeting was old, and the faucet on the sink in the bathroom needed a deep clean or replacement. Obviously, being at Heathrow, they have a captive audience and don't have to be good. They don't have a hotel shuttle to or from the airport, so plan on a $25 cab. There is a bus for $13 but the instructions sent were so confusing, it was easier to just grab a cab. read more

This place is a maze for sure. Things are also labeled differently than I'm used to. Usually room 1230 would be the 12th floor but here it's the first floor (aka the second floor for those from the US). The rooms are spacious and clean and the water runs hot immediately so no waiting! I do wish the shower had a handheld but no big deal. There is a lounge for elite members and it is open late with to-go cookies and drinks and fruit. There is no free shuttle but the Hoppa bus is easy enough to find and it was only $11 for a round trip. They only take cash or tap so don't bring a card you can only insert, then the Renaissance is the first stop on the list. Check in was a breeze for me personally due to my elite status but I bypassed a massive line of very angry people in the process. read more

I previously stayed at this hotel in 2019 and was pleased to find that the rooms and en suites had been refurbished. The bed was comfortable and the view of the runway was also a nice perk (noise level was totally fine). My one complaint is that every time the toilet was flushed, a sewage smell would emerge minutes later. This is presumably because the bathroom plumbing was done incorrectly and there's no P-trap for the toilet, sink, and/or shower, which allows sewer gas to emerge after the water line is flushed. After every toilet flush, we had to run the sink or shower for a minute to get water back in the line; this was inconvenient and something we would've requested a room change for had we stayed longer than one night. The executive lounge was nice to visit in the evening (food served beginning at 5pm), which includes wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages. The breakfast left something to be desired as they don't serve any hot food, just pastries, cereal, and yogurt. Due to the incident with the bathroom and the fact that room doors slam really loudly (this woke us up a couple of times at the crack of dawn when other guests were exiting their room), we will opt for checking out other nearby hotels next time I'm at LHR. read more

Good grief! This place has fallen so very far in a few short years. We arrived at about 5:30pm on a Sunday. I noticed that the outside of the hotel looked dirty and run down. I also noticed that there were no porters at the main door and the desk where those helpful folks used to hang out looked abandoned. Once inside, there was a pervasive musty odor and things just looked grimy and old and tired. The furniture in the lobby was discusting, covered in sticky dirt and smelling strongly of decay. We were tired after flying in, so I took a chance that the room might be clean and comfortable. No it wasn't!! As soon as I opened the door a very strong smell like sewage hit me!! No thanks!! When I finally tracked down the on duty manager, he agreed to give me a refund and said he would talk about these issues at an up coming meeting. I believe the hotel was acquired recently and it seems that the new owners do not plan on keeping up the standards. It's marketed under the Bonvoy name. If this is Bonvoy, I'm switching! Truly the worst hotel experience I've had. We booked the Hilton Garden Inn and jumped an Uber for the 8 minute ride. Good decision! My usual "go to" (The Three Magpies) closed its kitchen due to an electrical malfunction. I grabbed a couple of pints and decided to try the Renaissance Hotel Restaurant and Bar (Bar Eleven). I tried to find a menu online. No luck (See Fotos). So I just had to go and see for myself. So glad I did !! Brogan, my server, was an absolute gem. Great guidance through the menu and kept my beers coming. Got the Chili Chicken Stirfry. So good . Maybe next visit I'll just keep it simple and eat here again !! read more

We stayed at this hotel because of British Airways putting us there due to a missed connection. It seems like this was one of the several designated hotels for British Airways to put guests that missed their flight. So we only stayed overnight, and had to return to the terminal early in order to complete our trip. Airport shuttles are available to take guests back and forth to the terminal. However, I do believe that there's a charge for this service if you're not set up through the airlines. The location was great for this type of turnaround, as it was located adjacent to the airport, very convenient to get to the terminal. The rooms were clean and tidy. However, it seems to miss some basic amenities that you would find in typical hotels, like a hair dryer. Also, there were no additional towels or beddings in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful though. For being very close to the airport, it was relatively quiet. read more

This hotel is in close proximity to Heathrow Airport and not much else. This hotel is a zoo with high guest traffic with mostly one night stays. I arrived late in the evening and had to stand in a line to check in. I was able to access my room with no issues. I and was able to get a bite to eat at the restaurant before closing. I got a few beers but the food wasn't very good. I was unable to be checked out in the morning as the computer systems were down. I was also unable to purchase a ticket for the hotel shuttle to Heathrow as the computer system was also down. We had to pay an overpriced taxi fare to get to the airport. read more

We were put up here by British Airways because of a missed connecting flight. Ugly We came to the front desk around 9:30 AM hoping to catch the bus at 9:38 AM. We were told by the hotel guy at the front door that the bus is delayed probably by 30 minutes and recommended us to take a taxi and pointed us to the guy next to him. Since we didn't want to lose time, we agreed to go with the taxi driver, and just as we were loading the luggage the bus came; perfectly on time! Felt like got cheated for 20 pounds. Haven't seen this kind of a cheap trick in a while and was not really expecting this from a Marriott hotel. There was no guest recovery attempt except a mumbled apology from her. Went to the gift shop meh, Went to the main restaurant for a drink. There are no stools @ the bar. Server came after a long while ordered vodka and cranberry juice. Got cranberry juice because I tasted no vodka. Went to the Garden restaurant for dessert. Ordered the cherry swirl it was delicious. Taxi from Heathrow was £18. The line for taxi was massive but moved quickly. I took public transport the #423 a few feet from the hotel. Hop on and hop off at terminal 2,3,4 or 5. Allow extra time as it stops for other people. This is FREE! UBER when I checked my app would have been 2 minutes and $11-15 for the same trip. Breakfast was delicious, fried eggs and butter croissant with coffee about £10 but there was a full buffet for £17. Heathrow itself at terminal 5 is easy to navigate BUT do not put more than your required liquids in your bag including makeup. You will be asked to pick your fave and throw out the rest. Plus the bag search will add another 20 minutes at security. There are loads of shops but all high end except for the souvenir shops. Dior, Prada, Tiffany, Harrods, Hermes, Chanel to name a few but still very impressive. The noodle restaurant was amazing! B gates require a train ride from the main departure terminal and it is not well advertised. I was caught off guard but thankfully did not miss my flight. Safe travels. read more

I've been here less than 2 hrs and I want to burn the place down. When you walk in it smells like a Jr high girls bathroom with broken air conditioning. Or a long fisherman's ass crack after a long day. The concierge saw us standing there 3 times waiting on line to check in because the 1 guy in front of us apparently wanted to know how the building was built before checking in. He finally after I put down my bags and sat down called my wife over to check us in. We get to our suite and want room service. Takes 10 min and 3 transfers to get room Serv on the phone to take the order only have them tell me they can't charge the room, there's no card on file. A card they didn't ask for. I then go strait to the restaurant who tells me they can't take the order there has to be done on the phone. Are ya seeing a pattern here? I go to the desk and the SAME GUY who just checked us in and didn't take my card now says he can't take the card, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I then say, "how do I get food from that kitchen to my room"!? He suddenly can take my card!!! Then tells me to go to the restaurant that JUST told me can't take the order to make the order. I had to go back upstairs and do it over the phone. Virgin Atlantic dropped the ball and we missed our connecting flight, but they were kind enough to book us an overnight stay which turned out to be at the Renaissance. Once inside the room it felt spacious enough for us, but the entry doorway felt skinny and hard to get suitcases and bodies through without bumping the walls. The bathroom was also nice; the shower had plenty of hot water. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We were also given food vouchers. Fish and chips and butter chicken were tasty. The hotel room was nice and clean. But the service at BarEleven was horrible. The waitress has yet to greet me. I had to go to the counter to order my meal and drink. No one ever checked on my status, like "would you like a refill?" or "how was your food?". I'm not sure if the color of my skin was the issue or something else. Maybe the wait staff was having a bad day...but my meal took over 30 minutes to arrive. The waiter said it was because it was being made fresh...and it was a bowl of ramen. Yikes. If you are looking for service or rest, don't stay here. Check-in experience started with a nice conversation where the representative couldn't quite figure out if I was supposed to be there, even though I had booked directly on Marriott.com. Somehow, he found my reservation, but not my Marriott member number, so he decided to lock my room against any room service or simple 'grab a bottle of water changes' even though I gave him my card at check-in. Room service brought me ball of beef on a bun they deigned to call a burger, followed by a granola dessert that smelled of rotten milk. Plus, they forgot the water and drink I ordered. Thankfully, they had a payment terminal with them so that I could at least get some food. Of course, when they called and woke me up after 11pm to ask if I had their copy of the receipt, I was none too pleased. Checkout was the same disaster as check-in. Are you a member? Address, etc. How do I get to the airport? We can sell you a ticket for the shuttle, but we don't actually do that here, try the kiosk in the lobby that doesn't dispense tickets. Avoid near LHR. I wish I could leave a review for the Market Garden restaurant separately from the overall hotel as I'd give the hotel itself a solid 4 stars and the restaurant 1 star. British Air put us up in this hotel for the night due a flight they rescheduled. The hotel was great! We didn't have any of the bad experiences others mentioned- the rooms were large, check in was friendly and expedient, the rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, great blackout curtains, etc. I'd highly recommend the hotel if you're stuck in Heathrow for the night. Unfortunately the restaurant service was absolutely terrible resulting in several escalations to management for things like the servers wouldn't provide us soft drinks even though the vouchers from the airlines specifically said the meals would have soft drinks. I understand the restaurant management may not be excited serving customers who have vouchers from the airline, but they need to realize this is due to a business arraignment between British Air and Marriott and that customers who are in the situation have already had a crappy day because their flights were messed up. Compounding the customer's bad day with poor service reflects poorly on the Marriott brand and the experience of the overall Renaissance Hotel. Don't do it! Horrible hotel, we had to change rooms 3 times. First was an "Accessible" room, which was fine except toilet seat was broken (could have been very bad for a handicapped person.) After waiting over an hour for it to be fixed so we could settle in, they moved us to a different room. Oh my goodness, Horrible! Dirty, poor condition, but most importantly, the Air Conditioner didn't work. Window wouldn't open more than 2", so could not get any outside air. It was at least 80 degrees in room. After going back to speak to manager 3 times, and being told no rooms were available, he'd try to find us a fan and give us a discount on the room. Dealt with these difficulties for at least 3 hours before resolved. With enough pressure and determination, a room magically opened up and we were able to get some rest before our early morning flight. Breakfast was ok, but nothing great especially for the money. Check in was the only issue, where I was at the back of the line from the shuttle and only one person was handling check-ins. That said, the wait was not as bad as expected. In the course of 24 hours I experienced Marriott hotels on two continents and experienced bot the sublime and the ridiculous and this poor excuse for a full service hotel is the epitome of the ridiculous! I suppose it could possibly be worse - but even with the old fogey (over 62) discount it cost me $252 for the night plus $22 for parking. First thing we drive in to park and to be honest I cannot identify the entrance - just some dingy, dark, non-lit double doors - really? Bellman waiting to help with bags? Hell no. Anybody to help with anything at all? Hell no. But that my friends is the entrance into this hellhole of a "hotel". The "grand" entrance is actually the other side of the hotel and is only accessible for coaches as far as I could see - so unwitting tourists who have a night here as part of their package feel a little special as they enter. Back to the point - walk in through the dingy corridor and find the check in desk for Marriott Elites (I am Platinum). Get the keys and go up to our floor and walked through the maze until we find the room. It is the last day of May in London and it is raining a little and cold. The room is cold and, while I am not exactly dumb (I have a Ph.D.), I cannot figure out how to adjust the setting to raise the temperature. After a few minutes I realize I have to put my keycard in a slot before anything works - OK my bad. Now I could change the setting but guess what - NO CHANGE in the airflow or the temperature - Nada!!!! WTF!! So I call to request assistance or instruction. Guess what? I was told that they have to adjust the temperature remotely!!! You have to be kidding me! I am paying $250 a night for this crap room and now I have to beg permission for temperature control!!?? Really!!! What a F#%king joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the temp done Decide to eat (wish I had eaten BEFORE we got to this dump). Basically they didn't want to serve us anything but the buffet which I didn't want but OK. I have to admit that the salad looked fresh and probably was but EVERYTHING else was tasteless mass produced reheated crap. Yuk! OK paid for that disappointing excuse for a meal and retired to the "Executive Lounge" - a privilege for Elite folks. You guessed it - another total F$%king, F&$king, F72king JOKE!!!! The worst EVER. I have posted pictures already. A totally useless, useless F&$king useless staff member in there. There was NOTHING, NOTHING, F&$king NOTHING. Look at the pics - everything was empty at primetime. There wasn't any wine in the honor bar or whatever, the snack jars were EMPTY, there were TWO (yes 2) tiny stale brownie squares for all the Elite members to drool over, and a little stale sweaty cheese screaming "please eat me and get food poisoning for your flight back to the US tomorrow". Even the F&$king coffee machine was broken and he had no clue how to fix it (please remind me - why is this moron paid? What CAN he do!??). The ONLY soft drink was Pepsi - or would you like Pepsi?? Ok finally a scruffy manager turned up and said that the only reason all burgers only come well done was because of mad cow disease lol - which is totally not true and that was years ago and the rest of Britain is cooking steaks and burgers medium rare - now that was the manager ! I really felt it was like faulty towers it was just laughable but at the end of the day it's not the staffs fault they had no training and nor did the managers either - sadly its corporate greed , people on minimum wage not trained just trying to get by - SHAME on upper management and the owners! Our flight to FRA was cancelled, so LH put us up overnight. This was there choice. As I checked in, I realized this was a Marriott brand hotel and I have platinum status. I had to coax the receptionist to put in my number. I did get the points but was never recognized as a platinum member which is routine. Also no upgrades, not that we needed them. We received voucher for lunch and dinner. Lunch was served in the bar. Pleasant atmosphere. I ordered the lamb kebabs. The portion was humongous but the meat was a long sausage like thing with a long wooden toothpick through it. There were 4 or 6 of them. Obviously meat product, pre made, frozen, then warmed. I'll eat bad gyros and shawarma but this had a rubbery texture and not a good flavor. Dinner was a buffet. I couldn't find anything I liked. Service at dinner was almost non existent. I won't be as hard on this place as the other two reviewers. I have noticed however that the Heathrow Airport hotels are as a whole a little more rundown and older than in other cities. However, I found it to be completely adequate for a few nights. It's a good value if you get the breakfast thrown in. Certainly not worth comparing to mom's cooking, but there's an omelet station, hot English food, fruit, yogurt, and cereal in a large dining area. Not the best I've had, but ironically better than many that I've had! lol. The rooms are a little small and dated, but serviceable. Make sure you have your Marriott rewards number on you since you can't look them up. I found this hotel to be acceptable, but its weak points are that the wifi is 15 pounds which is insane, the hotel is a sprawling maze, and the rooms could use a refresh. the upside to this is that the gym is small but decent and open 24 hours with your room card, there is a local bus stop outside that will take you to the Heathrow Tube for free since it's just one stop away, and there is a McDonalds within short walking distance for emergencies. read more

The staff was SOOO RUDE!! Every person that I interacted with was a complete ass. The person in the lobby who wouldn't answer questions and was yelling at people to take a seat, the check in person who gave 20 of us room keys that didn't work, the reception person who fixed the key, the bar tender who cut me off mid sentence and snapped "what do you want?!", aaand finally the lobby employee who I ask about check out time that rolled her eyes and literally went back to taking a selfy. The location is great and the condition is very up to date. The hotel itself, mouse maze like corridors makes finding your room a pretty trying task. All that said, we found the service to be above and beyond here. We over slept breakfast and arrived to the restaurant in the closed gap between breakfast and lunch. Our server checked with the chef and no worries they would be happy to make lunch for us! The next day I had another wonderful experience in the gym. The lady at reception appears to also be a personal trainer and he helpfully corrected people using the equipment. Not a great building but they are doing everything they can to make it the best it can be. read more

I'm a gold member of Marriott and was very pleased with this hotel and the extra perks they gave us. We were allowed in their executive Lounge for refreshments, comp breakfast was great with a full English breakfast. Nice upgraded room with a view of the airport. The bed was comfortable that I think I will order the mattress for Home. Will definitely stay here again when we come back for a visit. read more

The Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel is a good airport hotel with both positives and negatives, though what those are will greatly depend on your own preference. The hotel itself is very tired and worn and has a layout that, well, isn't fun to navigate if you have a lot of bags like I did. It isn't located at the airport or within walking distance, so expect to take a bus or cab to get here. The ride will run you about 5-10 minutes, and if you decide to take a cab, could cost you between 10 & 15 GBPs. That being said, it's a relatively quiet, clean hotel that will provide you a good nights sleep. Suffice to say, if you're looking for a basic hotel, then this will work for you just fine. If you're looking for a luxurious experience, or even a modern experience, this hotel is not for you. IF, however, you are an AvGeek, I'd highly recommend this hotel regardless of how you feel about the interior because of the view of LHR's runways! Admittedly, the rooms here are small by US standards, but are average, I suppose, by European standards. Access to outlets is ok, but not great. The bathroom is also tiny, though functions well. There's interesting features like a trouser press and a strange mini bar that isn't stocked unless you request... I think? I didn't try. The property does have a restaurant, that I didn't try either, though I did take advantage of the Club Lounge for breakfast. The spread was pretty good, including sausage, bacon, eggs, breads, pastries, yogurt, juices, teas, etc. It is a little small, so finding a seat might get a little difficult during peak times, but I didn't have an issue. The CL does, however, have a great view of the runway, so it's great for plane spotting as well. On the service side, my experience at the hotel was very positive. All of the staff that we encountered were extremely friendly and always willing to assist. Despite being a Marriott Rewards Platinum, I did not receive an upgrade at check-in, though that didn't bother me. My wife and I would be in the room less than 12 hours, so a Jr Suite or great view wasn't necessary. If I ever do stay here for more than a day, though, I'd probably request a room with a view of the runway at the least! Would I stay here again? Of course. It's not the best hotel, not even a great hotel... but it gets the job done and is great for plane spotting! read more
