I want to start by saying that the people who worked here were incredibly kind and eager to assist us and other guests. Bless their souls.
However, the accommodations were not at all what I expected. I booked the hotel through Expedia, not even realizing how incredibly cheap it was, $38 a night. A red flag I should have paid greater attention to. With that said, you definitely get your money's worth in this case. At first glance, the hotel was okay, simple, there was a fish tank in their lobby. It was cute. Tile floors, decent sized room, however, after further inspection we noticed clearly visible stained sheets. Not fresh stains, as if the sheets had not been washed, but old dingy stains as if bleach was avoided. Little black marks scattered, maybe old makeup stains or ink stains from pens, who knows! Either way, I can honestly say, I've never seen stains on hotel bed sheets in my 26 years of life. On top of that the sheets were thin, comforters are not a thing at this hotel by the way. We asked for a blanket, they gave us a gold, sandpaper-like throw blanket that smelled of pool water. Also, a box spring? Not a thing either, just a almost thicker than a futon-like mattress on a wood block.
The towels were "white" with similar strange stains as the sheets. The bathroom was not in anyway attractive, it was dingy, dark and there was residue on the shower floor, making me wish I had brought shower sandals, you know, the kind inmates are given at a penitentiary. The shower curtain was stained with god knows what. We avoided touching many things in there at all costs. Oh, did I mention the toilet leaked out the front a little after every flush?
Now trying to sleep here was not possible (we honestly slept a total of 10 hours in a 4 day span). Remember those tile floors I mentioned? Yeah, they make everything echo, and apparently people who stay here don't know what courtesy is. So, naturally there was yelling, laughing, and singing almost every few minutes of the night, startling our sleep. The rooms were not like rooms in a Best Western for example, you know, the thick walls, heavy doors. The walls and doors had the thickness of a cheap apartment complex built in the sixties. No Bueno, my friends. No Bueno.
Oh, and when you see the menu in the room that says breakfast is "gratis," free, that's not what they mean. We found that out when we went to go get said "free breakfast" and were told if we had paid a certain amount in advance at check in, it would be considered free. Yes, folks, you heard that right, IF YOU PAY, IT'S FREE. I literally "lol'ed" after being annoyed from the false advertising. Free if you pay. Now, what you're paying for is eggs and fruit. That's it. No meat. No water. No tortillas. No potatoes. Nada. And just those eggs and fruit cost about $15 bucks. It all actually made me appreciate the fine print under everything we have in America when we advertise something to be "free." I'm telling you, there was no fine print anywhere, it was a, "well nothing is free," kind of thing when the server spoke to us, and I'm like, well it usually is when it says it is and there isn't a disclosure that says otherwise! We reminisced on our past complimentary breakfast experiences that we took for granted in America.
There was a Marriot down the street and we truly considered losing the money we paid for the week there and going to the Marriot but it turns out they were booked. We powered through and the kindness of the people who worked there kept us less grumpy about the situation, but we warn you. You really get what you pay for here.
My recommendation, bring your own sheets, towels, and shower sandals, if you want to stay at this hotel in Mexico for cheap. This hotel was incredibly close to the Plaza Del Sol which had a lot to offer, so the location was pretty convenient.
