The staff at Hotel La Rovere were super! In a city full of very rude waiters and vendors, it was nice having such great service at the hotel. There was someone at the desk 24 hours a day.
I loved the neighborhood because it was off the main street just a couple of blocks. 1 block from the bus or a 20 minute walk to tons of great restaurants and shopping. I felt very safe there and it was a quiet neighborhood. I never heard one dog bark and there were no weird people in nearby rooms having a Rave.
Room was clean, bed was fine although I wish Europe and South America would figure out how to make a queen bed that wasn't two twins shoved together which I inevitably fell in between once a night.
The bathroom was clean and modern but very small. Showers were manageable but it was an act of gymnastics to not have parts touching the inside of the toilet. A man definitely did not design that toilet.
Wifi was pretty great. I was in room 302 and always had a strong signal. The view from this room is nice as well, just overlooks a few rooftops and an alley.
Breakfast was breakfast typical of Italy I suppose....it was weird to me but people seemed to like it. Variety of cold cuts, stinky cheeses, breads, cakes, what looked like some kind of hot dog, and some scrambled eggs. Fruits as well....I was on vacation so I ate the carbs and walked them off later seeing the sites. Their espresso was great!
There were no ice machines or glassware for in-room cocktails or soft drinks, but the staff was always happy to put some ice in a small container for me every night. There were a few bottled waters in the room-fridge which they replaced every day and never charged me for. There was a kettle that heated up very quickly and the room provided a couple of instant coffees and teabags.
Finally, on our exit morning, they called me a cab that was a fixed rate to the airport that took credit cards.
If I come back to Rome, I will probably book this hotel again. read more
