This was an amazing "find"! John and Sarah are warm and inviting. We were welcomed by them and they really ensured they met any and every need. The food was also amazing; WAY better than a continental breakfast. I stayed in the yellow room and it was excellent! Queen sized bed was cozy. Individual room heat/air conditioners and this room's bathroom has heated floors! All of this for less than the price of a hotel. I also want to note that they welcomed our extended family from the area to come over and visit for the days we were there. That was above and beyond. This is a wonderful b&b with an authentic old-time feel, full of hospitality and charm. We came for the funeral of my 90 year old uncle and stayed here to be with my cousins. The house reminded us of those belonging to earlier generations of our family, beloved but long gone. All of the rooms have been beautifully restored by the innkeeper, John Steever. The recently finished addition features repurposed woodwork harvested from old houses in the area, making it look like it could have been part of the original home. Our host, John, couldn't have been any friendlier or more accommodating. From his warm, easy going manner when I made the reservation through the fabulous breakfasts he cooked to his generously allowing us to come back and check out after the funeral, John was the perfect host. My cousin picked this place online and suggested we join her and the rest of her family. It made a sad occasion sweeter to have such a cosy, intimate haven in which to gather. Yet we had all the privacy we needed up in the Attic Suite when my husband and I wanted to be alone. We enjoyed the unique design of this lovely space carved out of the former storage space under the eaves. It included a king size bed, double Jacuzzi and gas fireplace. We want to come back in warm weather to enjoy the outdoor pavilion and fire pit and to stay in the brand new Dakota Suite. It's even nicer than the Attic Suite. Even more important, John and Sarah treated us with warmth and kindness. read more

My husband and I live nearby, and we were looking for a local "getaway" to celebrate our anniversary and take a creative retreat. The Steever House fit the bill perfectly! The house is gorgeous both inside and out, exquisitely decorated with antiques and bright colors. My husband and I were both using computers for our work, and we had no trouble finding enough outlets or getting connected to the Internet. It's nice and quiet out in the country, and we especially liked working on the upstairs sun porch. Relaxing in the jacuzzi was a nice way to wrap up the end of each day, too! Breakfast may have been the best part of every day -- although it was still hard to get out of bed on time because the bed in our room was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. But the food is absolutely phenomenal -- I never knew eggs could taste so good, and I especially loved the bread items (scones, muffins, pancakes, etc.) Unfortunately, we visited during a weekend that ended up being windy and rainy, but I hope to return in the future on a nice weekend so we can read in the cozy hammocks out front. I definitely recommend it for an experience that is more homey and unique than a traditional hotel could ever offer. read more

I met Mr. & Mrs. Steever during a long weekend trip to visit extended family members in NW Iowa. Their comfortable B&B home was conveniently located approximately half an hour south of the Sioux Falls Airport and about 45 minutes from the small towns we were visiting across the IA and MN borders. Mr. & Mrs. Steever were very knowledgable about the history and surrounding area in Lennox, as well as many of the options and attractions up through Tea, Harrisburg, and into Sioux Falls, SD. We were treated to an impressive homemade breakfast spread each of the three mornings we stayed and enjoyed dining family-style and socializing with some of the other guests that were present at the house. Our party was spread throughout three different rooms; the pictures online are representative of the style and layout of the entire home. We were traveling with my 10 y/o daughter; both John and Sarah were wonderfully engaged with her and her (many!) questions and offered to include her in helping them feed of their flock of chickens and collect eggs which she greatly enjoyed. The Dakota Suite was perfect for us; a king-sized bed for adults and a single twin-sized bed for her. Although there was plenty of acreage to run around on, I probably would have thought twice about having my daughter accompany us if she was much younger; many of the house decorations are not suitable to touch or play with and I imagine running/noise could be a disturbance for other guests. There is a sizable library of DVDs that span many genres that we could pick from at the end of the day to wind down after visiting the old soy & corn family farms. Internet speeds at the house were suitable for our needs at 15Mbps-down/4.5Mbps-up. read more

There isn't enough to say but treat yourself to a little getaway, whether from Sioux Falls or Sweden, this is a bucket-list MUST!
