Frankly, this is one of the best hotel stays for the price that I have had. Shout out to Julie and Mary! They were both very friendly and helpful. The hotel was super clean - the room, the bathroom, the pool, the gym. The room itself was nice and spacey. The gym was nice, the whole floor was covered with those bouncy tiles which was great for weight lifting. Breakfast was good. Cherry on top was the electric car charger that was free and easy to use. My only piece of feedback that I assume is not under control of the location itself, but Wyndham overall: The plastic forks and knives for food. Could they please consider doing biodegradable? So pleased with our stay! We came down for a tournament with friends and our rooms were excellent! The pool was warm (kids appreciated), and breakfast had a decent selection. We reserved a room here because of all the good reviews but what so disappointed. One of the worst hotels we stayed in on our trip across the US. Not sure if we got a run down room because we had our dog with us but the hotel needs to be upgraded. The carpets are fraying and the electrical plug in the bathroom was barely staying in the wall. Worst of all though was the bed. There were two sunken in spots on one side of the bed, so deep my husband had to put pillows over them to keep from falling in them during the night. How they could be overlooked by staff I'm not sure. Why people gave this hotel 4 and 5 stars I'm not sure but it's definitely not either. read more

When I saw this facility was rated two stars, I was nervous but I worried for nothing. Easily accessible off highway 29, (road construction is a nightmare on 41st street!), easy parking, clean facilities, pet friendly (one of the top reasons I chose this location), decent breakfast with cereal, make it yourself waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, choices of juices and milks, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, a little heavy on the carbs but the fresh fruit made it work for me. Standout performances by front desk clerk Ryan who made a big fuss over my dog (love me, love my dog ...) checked me in quickly, gave me some helpful local information and an engaging smile and by front desk clerk, Julie, who went above and beyond when I was trying to get a copy of my bill. She even walked it down to my door, I mean, who does that? I'll tell you who ... Julie! Room is clean, plenty of towels and hot water, spacious shower, and Ryan thoughtfully put us in the room closest to the pet area. Bravo, standout staff, nice facility, enjoying my stay here. LQ has been bought out by Wyndham but they are still keeping their pet policy at this location, no pet fee. For someone who travels for work and fun, I look for good LQs to stay with my family and pets. My main requirement for a good/great room? Have a pet room that doesn't look or smell like a pet room, then you got a loyal customer. This LQ is top notch in pet friendly hotels. It is CLEAN, new looking and quiet. Our suite was large with a comfortable bed. Tons of pillows to choose from. The bathroom was clean with good pressure and had a vent. Bonus. Many hotels still do not have vents which is unbelievable. When in Sioux Falls, this will be our hotel each time. read more

A conflicted review for me, as the hotel staff was absolutely wonderful. Above and beyond. It's a pet friendly hotel, but they had a pet free room for allergy sufferers, which is always a nice touch. The lady at the front desk even sent me up to my room with a little air cleaning machine, in case I needed it. It seems this hotel has a lot of regulars, and they have really gone to lengths to encourage a family feeling amongst their guests. The managers number was also on a card in the room (which I wish I had taken, so I could ask him how I might have handled what took place last night). Everything was great till we fell asleep. My husband and I were sleeping soundly in our large, clean room until 2:06am when a man and woman came down the hall and entered the room next door. The man woke us up literally screaming- clearly extremely drunk and having a great time. Both my husband and I awoke (along with, I'm sure, everyone on the 4th floor). I have seen my husband sleep through a fire alarm- he doesn't rouse easily. This guy was just extremely loud. The couple was drinking, fighting, smoking, and talking at volume that could only be described as yelling. Multiple times they would start drunkenly fighting and the fight would spill into the halls. The content of their fight was pretty inappropriate in nature- I feel I know them all too well at this point, I'll leave it at that. Multiple times I thought about calling the desk or going downstairs to ask for help, but this happened to me once before at a hotel with a group of teenagers who booked a room to party in and the front desk told me their only option was to move me. I thought about knocking and asking them politely myself if they could keep it a little quieter but I wasn't sure what I'd be walking into. Since we have a lot of luggage, a massive drive in the morning and- most importantly, the pet free room, I just hoped they would settle down. I dug out my white noise machine and put on headphones. It still wasn't enough to drown out these folks, especially the man who was screaming so loud I could hear every word. They settled down a while after 4am but it was such a stressful experience, we couldn't fell back asleep. Important to note the proximity of the bar to this hotel. I am guessing these guys were drinking until last call, then stumbled across the parking lot to keep the party going. If I had kept the managers phone number I would call him today to simply ask the best way to handle a situation like they in the future. I wonder if this is a common thing at this location, due to the many regulars and the fact a popular watering hole is just across the lot. It was the worst night of sleep I've ever gotten in a hotel, and my husband is feeling pretty wrecked today also. If I could give this La Quinta 6 stars, I would! This is by far one of the nicest pet friendly hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, clean, and quiet with nice soft beds. Even the soap and shampoo in the showers were a brand name that I use at home. The breakfast had many selections; cereal, eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc. The best words I can use to describe our stay with our dog are "comfortable and accommodating"! Excellent hotel! This will defiantly the one I will stay at every time I'm in town for now on. We loved being able to bring the dog. The didn't have that "pet smell" at all. Decent pool & hot tub, standard more-than-cereal hotel breakfast (sausage & biscuits, make your own waffles, sausage/bacon, muffins...and 3 cereal choices). We stayed here for the dog show held at the Lyon Fairgrounds and we were very happy with the quality and location of this hotel. Our room was a king suite on the first floor near the exit door and stairs and it was quite spacious. There was some noise from folks using the stairs which may have been reduced in the next room down closer to the lobby. The shower was nice with plenty of water pressure and was easy to step in and out of. The toilet was low compared to our recent stays in rooms with comfort height toilets. The room had lots of space available to put up our soft sided dog crates and that's always nice to have and still be able to move around including eggs, meats, biscuits and gravy, waffles, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruits and yogurt. Lots of space to walk the dogs and sidewalks available to take longer walks around the hotel area. We travel a fair amount and have come to love the La Quinta brand and this hotel is no exception. Great service, wonderful employees and pet friendly. We'll stay there again. read more

I have reviewed this hotel elsewhere in the past with a higher rating but my recent experience was not as good. I realized LQ is not commonly thought of as a top hotel but we have a corporate rate and it's conveniently located for our needs. This visit, they couldn't find our corporate rate and didn't seem over anxious to look it up. (Side note: my company stays at this location over 20 times a year, usually booking 3-4 rooms per visit) LQ escalates your status rather quickly so becoming their top level or Elite status comes rather quickly. Elite doesn't do much for you except the occasional room upgrade and a warm bottle of water and some trail mix in your room. I don't need to be treated like a king but at least I like to feel that they appreciate our patronage. Rooms are clean and fairly modern so no complaints there but either management changed or some key employees left. I'll return but fingers crossed that they step up the hospitality UPDATE: 11/11/19 The check in process had became time consuming over the last few years so I was considering looking elsewhere. My most recent stay, I was greeted by Samantha who was not only full of energy but was super efficient. She checked in all 6 rooms in a matter at 3 minutes and we were all on our way. Rooms are still decent, managers reception with a cold beer and a snack is nice and the location is convenient. I understand this is a pet friendly hotel, but it was seriously the most smelly hotel I have encountered. Our room smelled as if it was invaded by cats that peed on everything. I could barely breathe. And to top it off, it smelled like the hotel tried to cover the smell with cheap cologne. My luggage still smells of cat urine and it's been several days since staying here. Also the breakfast is greasy sausage and biscuits and gravy that looked like cat vomit. No yogurts, oatmeal or food for those who prefer healthy options. The coffee tasted burnt. This was one of the best hotel stays on our most recent road trip - and we stayed in some very pricey 5 star resorts! This is a very nice hotel, with a clean and spacious lobby which is beautifully appointed, and a very, very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is wonderfully quiet - not a peep from up or downstairs, either side or the hall. I know there were other travellers about - I saw them! But I didn't hear them; the soundproofing here is fantastical. The rooms are huge and lovely for the price point - and the bed!!! OH MY GOD THE BED!!! I slept like a baby. What kind of sorcery magic is in this bed? Is it memory foam? Can I buy one for my house? I think I'd pay almost anything for this bed, it was so, so amazing. Second only to the bed when I'm travelling is the shower - it wasn't stellar here - the water pressure was less than perfect, but it was adequate and the bathroom was scrupulously clean. Breakfast here is included and has some different and unusual choices that you don't see everywhere. There is a decent enough pool and hot tub as well. read more

We stayed here twice. Clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. Dog friendly, with lots of grass around the hotel and poop bags. Staff was very friendly and they offered a happy hour between 5-7pm with snacks and beverages. When record flooding hit SW Minnesota and we had to cancel our camping trip to Lake Shetek, I scrambled to find another place to stay for the next leg in our family road trip. I agonized for way to long trying to find the right hotel in Sioux Falls. Seriously, if you need a place to stay in Sioux Falls, you can stop looking, this is it! The staff at the front desk, Mo and William, were both super friendly and helpful. They made us feel right at home. Our family of 5 slept soundly. The room was quiet and the beds were super comfy. The kids LOVED the pool. The free hot breakfast was tasty, and way more substantial than what you usually get for a free hotel breakfast. Everything about our experience here was first rate. Room was very nice, but expensive. Not a great place to walk my dog - not a lot of grass, and there was old poop everywhere in the small grass they had. I was in a King suite and my dog and I could hear everything in the hallway - she kept barking because people were talking as they walked by. It would have been great to have a little more sound insulation. Breakfast was OK, but plates/utensils were all plastic/styrofoam! What a HUGE waste and burden on the environment. Not cool, La Quinta. Get a dishwasher and let's be a little more eco friendly. Lots of space in the suite, which i liked. The hotel bedding and towels etc were new/clean.
