I arrived and placed my food in the fridge and ventured to the grocery store. I return to find my fridge leaking. Freaking out i run downstairs. As I'm running to Different task I run into my neighbor he asks if all of my powers working. I say that not the tv but i dont need it. I explain to the front desk the problem and she thinks its a breaker issue. She then gives me access to the staff fridge and says it should be repaired tomorrow. I arrive home from work and find everything is back working. The lady at the front desk is so accommodating and nice. Id definitely stay here again! If I had it to do again I'd stay in my car on Spit Rd and risk a bear encounter rather than stay in this shit hole. Bedbugs and rats will be the least of your worries here, instead fear being a victim of human trafficking. Mattresses are ancient, keep your shoes on, don't worry about closing the washroom door (you can't), no air circulation, and filthy walls and touch points. Most concerning is the lack of safety. No front desk staff, outside doors open and available to any transient to come through the halls after a stop at the street level liquor shop owned by the hotel, No inside safety locks on hotel room doors. Room: 205 My husband and I were planning to originally camp at Klahanie Campground, but due to an unexpected storm that rolled in a week before our trip, we cancelled and quickly booked this place. We have no regrets!! First, the location is excellent. It's right in downtown Squamish! We were able to drive a couple minutes to the beach lookout, walk to Howe Sound Brewing (or you can drive, if you want), down the street from Climb On store and grocery store, 10-15 minutes away from Shannon Falls and Murrin Park, 5 minutes from Smoke Bluffs, and 10 minutes from the Chief. It's right next to this nice liquor store, too. We never felt unsafe in this area. It seems like everyone is really friendly here. We met Jared and some of the housekeeping ladies. All were very nice! Jared was incredibly helpful and friendly. He recommended SO many things to do: Alice Lakes, Garibaldi, Chief hikes, Shannon Falls hikes/gondola, Murrin Park, some scenic lookouts, and places to eat. His wife was super friendly as well. Laundry soap is $1, but we only had a $2 coin, so she gave it to us free because she didn't have change. Our room was neat, simple and clean. We had a window view of the Chief. There's a good sized fridge and microwave. Two fans, if needed (we never used it). Tv. Wifi. Laundry drums were huge, which was convenient to do one load. Soda machine and dvds for borrowing. **Stairs only to get up to your rooms. We didn't mind at all, but just making a note for people who have a hard time walking up stairs.** **Unfortunately, our room was next to the kitchen exhaust from the Ruddy Duck. We didn't mind though and closed the windows.** **No breakfast/continental breakfast** The reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars is because it exceeds our expectations of places we generally stay at. We're used to staying in dirt cheap places that are generally 2 stars on our climbing trips. We knew that this was an old building and neighboring a pub, so we were prepared and brought earplugs :P If you're looking to book in Squamish without paying a fortune, stay here. But, don't have high expectations like it's the Ritz. We cannot complain that we had a nice roof over our heads from the wet weather for $50/night. Well, where do I even start? The hotel is in a convenient location, and the rooms are decent if basic. My review is going to be on a specific experience I had on the first night of a two-night stay in the hotel. I was in the area for work. I got to sleep around 10:30 p.m. and awoke at 11:30 p.m. to the sound of a very loud conversation going on between two men in the hall outside my room. One person was that one end of the hall, and the other person was at the other end of the hall. They had a 10 minute long, meandering conversation about meeting someone somewhere else, or making arrangements to meet, or something. A couple of minutes into their conversation I shouted through the door of my room " hey can you guys keep it down please" and was ignored. A minute later I made a similar request, and was ignored a second time. The third time I stood right behind the door and shouted "WILL YOU TWO SHUT THE F___ UP?! PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!" The hall went silent. And moments later, one of the men previously engaged in a loud conversation about absolutely nothing replied "well, we work here, and I don't appreciate being spoken to that way". I was stunned. And even today, as I write this, I cannot process the following things in my mind: 1) why are hotel employees having a loud personal conversation in the middle of the night in a hallway right outside the guest rooms? 2) when challenged on their behavior, who the waterproof f--- is going to defend their behavior on the grounds that their employment in a hotel grants them some kind of entitlement to bray like jackasses and keep the guests awake at night? I mean, they're the last people one would expect to be keeping the guest awake, because if guests can't sleep there, guests won't stay there. And if guests don't stay there, there won't be any jobs there. I'm no economist, but even I can understand this. 3) did they miss the two-week module in Hospitality employee school where they learn that the guests are there to sleep, not to be treated to the auditory portion of a subpar David Mamet play? I don't even think I can finish this review. My mind is so blown by first of all by the disruption and second of all the attempted justification of the disruption that I think probably the best thing for me to do is just start drinking now. We decided to adventure last minute and this place and the august jack were the only vacancies. Between the two this one looked cleaner, more updated etc. BIG mistake! Upon booking through priceline.com I received a slightly annoyed call from an employee here saying I better get here before 11 because they close their front desk (WTF?! is that an option in the tourism industry? haha!) We checked in and were warned that there was a pub below and there would be noise. We knew this from booking but we did not understand how much it would be. They should call it a club as it is. With our ear plugs we brought we still got no sleep as our floor and bed and pillows were vibrating. Then when it really closes at two am you hear the drunken brawling through your window to the people directly below for another 45 minutes. Also, the fan if you put it on high (which I like :) will wobble and seem very close to falling off onto you in bed. It also sounds like a helicopter taking off, but at that point your so miserable any ways what's another sound? Also the bed linens don't smell clean. They don't smell dirty, just musty and old.If you can stay anywhere, even in your car. do it! I wish I booked the shadier looking august jack. The only positives? Yummy smelling artisan soap, and dvd' s to borrow in the hall, yesss simpson movie! read more

Lovely hotel right off of the main drag in Squamish, and convenient to both Whistler and Vancouver. Staff was helpful in making food recommendations and in assisting a member of our party who ran into a temporary issue with a credit card (quickly resolved). Very cute and peaceful room, with excellent coffee. Although I did not take advantage of this, I thought the wine glasses and corkscrew were a nice touch. Deductions? No air conditioning (I know, I'm American...)-- but in fairness it was quite toasty during our visit. Also it was mildly confusing to turn the faucet in the bathtub from running a bath to a shower- there were two handles that looked like it could be it and I didn't catch the right one until my husband pointed it out to me. We booked a stay at hotel Squamish kind of last minute as we were traveling and didn't know where we'd end up staying. We honestly use Airbnb for 90% of our stays now days but found them to all be over priced for the value in the area, so we decided to google hotels and found this place. We were quite surprised with our room, thoughtful decorations, comfortable bed, free WiFi, mini fridge, coffee maker with great coffee, and nice soap in the bathroom. The location is also in close walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Off street parking is available. Only negative was both nights we could hear some loud foul conversations as other guests went down the hall. read more

Nice soap! And they've added air- conditioning. The hotel is old but clean and kind of sweet. We are so used to cheap chains which lack some funk. Do make sure you have the code because if you go out for an early breakfast you won't be able to get back in. My major complaint: our friends booked online and got it twenty dollars cheaper. We checked in together. The clerk was embarrassed but still charged us more. The internet was good and my husband was able to watch the mariners on a big screen in our room, too. We were recently here a few days ago for a weekend trip up to Whistler for skiing. It looks like they completely renovated the place. The sheets, carpet, and laminate flooring in the rooms looked new. The staff was extremely friendly and we couldn't beat the price! It was completely worth staying 45 minutes outside of whistler since the hotel room came to $75 per night after taxes. The room comes with a mini fridge and a television with DVD player. The only downside is the television is relatively small (but that's being super picky). We couldn't be happier and we will definitely be staying again here the next time we go skiing in Whistler. read more

I read the reviews here in choosing this hotel and wanted to make sure to clear some items up. It is a great deal, that's for certain, at around $70 a night. However, the rooms are old as is the hotel. Though items like the flooring and tiling in the bathroom were updated, the new flat screen TVs are tiny. The bedding is really itchy and super low thread count. The bedspread was so old and worn out that we chose not to use it at all. The drop ceiling had holes, as did the walls in certain areas, and the bathroom door didn't close. Also, there is no A/C and no screen on the window. The room was about 9,000 degrees when we walked in. The mattress was old and not very comfortable to sleep on. We only got 1 towel, which was an issue because when we woke up the staff was not around (only work from 9-11pm), so one of us couldn't shower. And, finally, there's no elevator and only a spiral staircase that is really hard to walk up to get to all of the rooms. It is right in the center of Squamish, and the staff is very friendly, however, I wish we knew more of what we were getting. It wasn't a bad experience, but I wouldn't have wanted to hang out there -- and I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I wanted to make sure folks knew this before signing up. read more

this used to be called ocean port hotel, now called hotel squamish. they did a total renovation recently, and when i tried to google map them, they looked completely different. decent place to rest for the night (or a few nights). the room was clean, and front desk was friendly. the only interruption was when housekeeping banged on our door at 2am in the morning to ask if our tub was leaking, since it seemed like water was leaking down onto the pub. turned out it was the room next door who was taking a bath. oh right. and the last interruption of the night was probably around 2:30 or 3am, when the bar closed that night and people were making their way home. for someone who's had a long day already, i wasn't greatly impressed with the noise. the only redeeming factor was the room we had incl a small little "living room" area with the tv and couch and fridge. for $90/night (tax incl) for 4 people, i can't really complain i guess. read more

Tried to cancel my room couple days before - they never answered so I left a couple messages. An employee called me asking if I was going to check in- I informed her of my messages. She then went on to insult me saying "if you booked with booking.com it's logic that you have to cancel on booking.com- you cannot call the hotel." I had no idea of this policy and don't appreciate being spoken to so disrespectfully. I will definitely not be staying here in the future- spend a little more and stay in the amazing executive suites. read more

This was such a great rate and just as nice as another hotel down the street we stayed at the first night , but about half the price. For your budget (2 people & 1 dog stayed for 10 days, 770 CND - about 500 USD total) this place is 5 stars, the super great service, dog friendly status, and very clean room were the baselines of importance to me. During my visit it was chilly in my room and that is why I am knocking a star off. It's very clean They take dogs and are very comfortable with them Staff is super helpful and extremely kind Comfy bed- perfectly fine linen Free onsite laundry (the machine is large, you can fit one suitcase full in the wash at once) with $1 packets of soap- aka 50 cents a load My room was over the liquor store so I had zero noise at all, it was extremely peaceful and lovely Beautiful views Right downtown/easy access to anything and everything Yes, the tv is small- but if you came to Squamish to watch tv in a hotel room then I really don't think you'll enjoy anything about your visit to this area lol Things to be wary of- If you're staying in any extreme temperature (I stayed over the winter, beautiful snow every day- temps hovering around freezing) your room won't be that far off from the feeling of the outdoors. I would imagine in summer it could get quite unpleasant as well. There is one small heating unit and one small AC unit in the room (kind of wish the AC had been stored for winter as the room isn't super large for two people and a Labrador, it's a bit awkward) it isn't enough to battle the ice outside. Sealing the window and door would assist without having to buy a new hvac system/doing major renovation work. There are no normal sockets of use in the bathroom, just a low volt plugin for a razors. As a lady with lots of curly wet hair in a cold room, this was a little annoying. One can use the sockets in the main sleeping part- no mirror access but keeps a sore throat away. The temp changes in the shower while it's running, this happenedr at least once during each day I used it *flash back to my childhood, don't flush!* (but the water does run hot and strong 99.8% of the time which is appreciated) The door to the hall *needs* weather stripping- esp because what keeps the room warm/cool is that small plugin free standing unit in the room. Plus light comes through the cracks which is surprisingly bright. On the lighter side of cautions- the building is old and although the rooms have been remodeled they were redone on a budget so don't expect to be blown away, again for basically $50 a night I am not holding this against them. All in all, it was completely worth the cost and then some! (Just bring extra sox and an extra winter sleeping bag!). It never felt dirty, the general vibe of the place is very homey and pleasant, and the people who run it are extremely sweet. The linens smelt fresh and my room smelt clean. This is not a scuzzy highway inn, it's a very sweet old hotel that has been kept up. I'm thankful it exists and want to come back in summer. read more
