I reserved the master suite for my wedding day this last weekend and unfortunately several major things went wrong. I called ahead of time and asked if I could have my wedding dress steamed prior to the ceremony, and was told that they do not offer someone to steam my dress but they had a steamer they could send up to the suite so I could do it myself. Totally fine, but the day of durin in they said they do not have a steamer. The gal told me there should be an iron in the suite though. So I find that and it's broken and leaked water everywhere. Then we realize that one of the couches legs was broken and so the couch was completely lopsided. I politely let the person know at the front desk all of these issues, but was never offered any reconciliation. Considering how much money it costs, I really expected more. read more

The Vandivort, without exception, is the premier hotel in Springfield. The rooms are faultlessly decorated and come with all the supplies you need. The rooftop bar has the best drinks we've had. I did not stay at the hotel but I met friends for drinks and dinner. The hotel is a boutique hotel. It is smaller but has lots of character. People are tired of being let down by the chain hotels so they are starting to migrate to the boutique hotels. The hotel has a beautiful lobby. On one side it has a seating area that has long wooden tables and a very hipster feel. There are unique lamps that are eye catching. The other side of the lobby had two big seating sections divided by decorative walls. You can hang out there and have drinks or dinner. They have big couches so it's very comfortable. There is a full bar inside the dining room. There are four individual bathroom on the floor below. Their is a very funky stairwell that you use to get down stairs or their is an elevator. I've heard the penthouse suite is an amazing place. Hopefully I will get to stay there at some point. read more

Love this place!! We haven't stayed in any other rooms besides the suite and they are great! They have stocked mini bars with snacks in the rooms and separated area seating area with another TV. As soon as you enter the room the blinds, lights and music invite you in. The staff will go out of there way for guests, they brought us water bottles late in the night and they even mailed me my straightener that I left behind. They do have an exquisite bar in the lobby with some tasty food! We are viewing the ballroom for our wedding venue possibly, can't wait! read more

Beautiful boutique hotel. Clean, spacious and very beautiful room. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The bedding and bed itself was very very comfortable. The front desk staff, housecleaning and restaurant staff were all friendly and helpful. We had a flight canceled and we're stuck in Springfield another night and the hotel staff got me and my children into our room at noon so we were able to relax and have all of our bags with us. Those little things are so appreciated especially when traveling with children. There are tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel and I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Springfield. read more

Heard the radio ad about the new chef and came back to the Vandivort for brunch after a business meeting after a long hiatus. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Everything was spot on....cured hand sliced ham was smokey and salty (just right) and paired very well with the poached eggs and muffins all with a crisp and seasoned side of side hash brown potatoes. I love the space, location and the ownership and after this positive experience will be back. read more

I stayed on business. The noise from the hallways and other rooms is so loud I did not sleep at all. I heard every footstep and word. I first assumed the people upstairs were having footraces in high heels, but I think the building just amplifies everything. I stayed in the new building.... perhaps the old one doesn't have this issue. The hotel is really beautiful, walking distance from lots of restaurants, and staff is great - but if you need to sleep, I'd avoid the new building (ask at checkin) or perhaps try to get on the top floor away from adjoining walls. If I was here for fun, it would probably be fine... but for work, this is not something I would do again - unless I could get on the top floor. read more

Beautifully repurposed building, formerly a Mason's lodge remodeled from the lodge to office space to the present iteration. Pleasant atmosphere and staff. Investigate the "Atrium" designation of rooms on floor one, actually sub street level, the effect gained by an opening let into the ceiling allowing a glimpse of windows at street level twenty feet above. Distinctly subterranean complete with the echoes. At least for me, not the experience I was anticipating. The room was nicely appointed with above average amenities. Bar and restaurant off the entry-lobby with a view of the busy and diverse street life. Location is convenient to old town's many activities. read more

We stayed twice in the same week, three days apart. Our second experience was far superior to the first. The Atrium rooms are below grade...odd. We found it too be noisy. The room is nice, but has overly fussy and, in some cases, illogical light switches. I know this sounds like a very minor issue, but in a room with virtually no ambient light, practicality should be the word of the day. Our room had one window at the top of a high (30 ft?) shaft at one end of the room. It had a shade, which was thankfully down when we arrived. We were unable, despite several attempts to make the automated shade go up. A miss. Most of the lighting had buttons that you held down and then brightened to full and then went back off. Frustrating when you just want to turn a light on and off. There's a large chandelier that wasn't wired for such theatrics, so it launched into a dizzying array of flashes whenever it was adjusted. A miss. The bathroom lighting was just bizarre. The randomness with which the lights worked with the switches was maddening...again, in a room with no ambient light. A miss. This room also had a wooden frame around the box spring. We noted that it seemed unusually high and would likely cripple one of us during our stay. It aligned perfectly with my knee cap, so I was the unlucky victim. A miss. Our second stay we asked for a "different experience" and were placed on the third floor of the second building...it's a short walk, across an alley from the front desk. The "lobby" which unmanned in V2 is a nice space. A couple was having their engagement photos shot when we arrived. This building is quieter, but does have a lounge, open to the public, on the roof. It's a nice space to watch the sunset and draws quite a crowd leading up to that, so you'll likely wait for the single elevator if it's in the hours leading up to sunset. A miss. A separate elevator should have been installed for guests going to the room floors. The room floors do require key card access, but since you're all in the same elevator, it's a bit of a security miss, too. Overall V2 is the better option. At nearly double the price of other area hotels, it's a place we are glad we tried, but it is unlikely we'd return. read more

I have stayed here multiple toile times. Although it is expensive and the rooms are amazing, I have had the worst experience riences here. I have been moved around to multiple rooms during one stay. I was next to a party over a weekend I had to work and so they moved me to another room. I was told by the assistant manager that he would comp me on my next visit but there was no record of it and he left shortly after. I had a room where the heat didn't work the entire time I was there. On my last stay, my room was already paid for but they charged me a second time and then gave me attitude when I asked them to address it. Nice rooms, horrible sound proofing, bad service. And you have to pay to park now!!!!! read more

We checked in for a weekend getaway and really enjoyed ourselves. Hotel is very modern and our suite a perfect mix of elegant and at your fingers technology. Rare for hotels in the Midwest. We both agreed on of the best away from home sleeps we've had in a long time. Walk in shower, robes/slippers, and a nice comfy bed. Not a standard room and it really felt worth the upgrade. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I mean really did. But the parking. They have space in a nearby open lot. The lot is a common pay to park lot that can get very full and I didn't see any reserved for the Vandivort spaces. You do get to park for free but it would have been nice to have a valet option at the hotel. On weekend nights the parking lots entrances are all chained off but one and unless you know which is the common entrance you end up driving a circle around the thing looking for it. Let me pay for Valet parking and I'll move this one to 5 stars in an instant. read more

Very cool, unique property. I was in town for work and wanted something different so I stayed here. I got one of the downstairs suites and was really impressed. It was a large space with nice kitchen area, beautiful bathroom, and a two story lounge area with a sectional couch and a chandelier. Definitely not what i expected in my room.... Then there were buttons to raise and lower the shades on the windows that were at the top of the lounge. Right outside the door was a small but nice gym and steps up to a bar and restaurant. The location was nice and in walking distance to restaurants, art, coffee, beer, etc... It's definitely a place I would stay again on a return trip. read more

Upon arrival we waited behind one person in line for 20 minutes at the check in desk, when it was are turn to check In we were told to wait to confirm that our room was clean, we waited for an additional ten minutes before getting the go ahead that it was ready. When making it up to our room we noticed that all the surfaces were dirty, scratches on the floor, dents in the walls and stains on the bedsheets that appeared to be dried blood, the sheets additionally did not smell clean. We left for dinner, and called and asked for extra cleaning. The counters were wiped off, but the dirty bedsheets remained. The staff was incredibly nice, but the upkeep of the rooms can improve. With such high prices and notoriety we would have expected a clean room at least. We will not be returning to The Hotel Vandivort. read more

I was impressed and delighted by the Hotel Vandivort. From the warmth of the lobby to the elegance of the guest rooms, first impressions were excellent. Nothing throughout the course of our stay did anything to diminish our opinions. The hotel offers everything a traveller could want but, beyond that, it is also perfectly positioned downtown. There are local restaurants and nightclubs in easy walking distance. I only wish we were in Springfield more often. read more

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at for work. The rooms are nice; like tv turned on when I walked in the door. You can have your music played throughout the room. You can electronically put a shade over the window, or even blackout for bed time. Not to mention the shower head is amazing. read more

NOT A SAFE PLACE TO STAY!!! FACE MASK are not Reinforced, as a guest you want to feel safe comfortable they allowed 9 people on the elevator at a time some people without mask can't believe hotel employees watched and allowed it to happen! Keep in mind if a guest test positive with the virus at this hotel it will be shut down and employees will need to go into a 14 day quarantine which will effect not only the people that work here it will effect the people that like this hotel. People walking around with no mask or mask just covering there mouth. Who wants to catch this virus? Also I was not told when I checked in I would need to call everyday to have my room cleaned restock towels, soap, coffee ect. I am really disappointed for the price I paid I thought service would be 5 star!!!! What a waste of money! Can't wait to leave, I don't think I will come back until they get it right!!!! read more

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are too. What ruins the experience is the housekeeping staff. I have stayed here five times and every single time I am grossed out by the lack of cleanliness in the room. My toilet has marks in it , not from me. Last time there was hair on the sheets. The dust on the baseboards in the bathroom looks like they haven't cleaned it since they built it. I wish it was clean then I can give 5 stars read more

My work put me in this hotel for about a week. I was taken back by how classy this hotel is given that it's in a rather small city. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and have a mix of rustic brick walls with modern furniture and electronics. The room lights and lamps are all controlled with buttons placed in convenient locations by the entrance and nightstands. The restaurant is elegant and the food is delicious. Our group raved about the drinks offered there, the bartenders make fantastic cocktails. Cons: I have to deduct one star (and I feel terrible about it) not because of the hotel itself for anything they did wrong but the fact that I was placed in a room that faced outward toward a bar that plays live music across the alley until the wee hours of the morning. I was unable to sleep until nearly 1am when the band stops. I relocated rooms the next day so not all rooms are affected but its something to consider if you're needing rest for work. The hotel was accommodating for this problem and relocated me the following day but I still did not get enough rest for work. I believe these rooms on that side of the hotel would be fine for individuals who do not sleep until after 1am but highly problematic for people who need to be at work at 6am. I'm not a light sleeper either.. read more

Been coming down to Springfield for the last couple years to watch my son play ice hockey for the Express and found all the hotels to be subpar and commonplace.... Then we discovered this incredible boutique hotel in the downtown area AND THANK Goodness!!! Loved every thing about it!!! Very stylish and has all the impeccable things you'd expect in a fine hotel!!! One of our favorites... The surround sound speakers in the ceilings. We plugged in our iPhone and cranked up the tunes while getting ready to go out for the evening and ended up dancing in the room! How fun is that?!?!! Clean, artsy, industrial chic decor is my favorite and very on point right now! You'll be surrounded in it! Don't miss a chance to stay in this place!!!! read more
