I always want this hotel to be the good one, but it routinely disappoints me in various ways. It's definitely overpriced for the quality delivered and you should stay elsewhere if you don't need to be specifically in this area. I like that the Oxo bar across the street is open late, and that there's a Planet Fitness not far away. But that things outside the hotel are the main draw is pretty sad. The main thing that keeps me from saying 3 stars are Tedi and Maria at the desk, and the people who do cleaning of the rooms. These people are gold in a hotel that is really going out of its way to not be useful in other ways. It's often the case that I need to extend my stay, or I book the stay in multiple segments to get certain Wyndham pricing (because the website makes no way to say I want two days on partial points and one day on full points, for example). But inevitably I know in advance and I ask to get things set up so I don't have to stop at the desk on the transition. People other than Tedi always tell me that can't be done before the actual day, which is both untrue and unhelpful. Tedi seems to get it that being of service means the hotel doing something for me, not me doing something for the hotel. Papering over seams like this is one of the most important thing desk people can do, and it's sad how much the men at the desk (and it does always seem to be men) tell me that's just the way it is, as if that justifies a steep price tag in a hotel. The manager at this hotel, I don't recall his name and did not talk to him on my most recent stay, though I have tried to engage him uselessly on these matters in the past, does not get it and I've given up trying to explain it to him because on past stays he is always ready with an excuse for why it's my fault. There is a lot I tolerate in the service industry, but I have a hard line on "it's my fault". Charge me what you will, and I'll decide whether I like the price, but don't tell me that you can't do a thing you obviously can and are just trying not to. He doesn't use the words "your fault", but it's what comes across when he says it's just a business decision. He talks like he's educating me, not like he actually thinks my opinion might matter or he owes any form of responsiveness. Basically, he's saying "those are the rules, if you don't like them go elsewhere". Increasingly, I do. There's a Super-8 over in Bolivar that's a bit of a drive but is a lot less expensive and very nice. I stayed there a couple of nights in preference to staying here. 1-ply toilet paper is another example. Sure, it saves you money, but telling me "just use two sheets" again makes it be my problem. 1-ply toilet paper does not say quality. It screams "we're cutting corners every chance we get". And breakfast in the limited range of time that it is means it's really just "breakfast for business travelers" who have to be up. For people on vacation, it means not getting to sleep in. The manager can try to explain all he wants about the economics of things, but in the end, he's making a choice to not value me, and it's not a good one. Also, they are really sloppy about starting on time, often late getting food out, but very meticulous about closing up at the other end, as if "of course you should expect to wait on us, but no, we will not bend for you". Again, this is the very antithesis of service in a service industry. That I have to worry as the end of breakfast approaches and I try to go get something from my room next door or to drop off an item (food I want to finish later sometimes isn't carryable in a single trip) I'll find the door shut if I come back is just the kind of unpleasant thing that makes the entire breakfast experience, if I interrupt my sleep enough to get to it at all, a real unsatisfactory thing. Shame on them, honestly. I paid for this the same as anyone else, but no clearly it's of no concern to them to accommodate people trying to have a precious day of vacation. What business do they think they're in? Well, if they won't listen any other way, they can listen here in the open so fellow travelers know this is how they'll be treated. read more

I'd give a zero if I could. I reserved (I thought) a room for a family member travelling from out of town. I go there to finalize it and am denied the room, because the moron at the desk said my phone number didn't match what their system said. The moron John quoted a phone number stating it was used to book the reservation. He's not smart enough to figure out that number is their online partners number. How do I know? Because I have a text from the same number confirming the reservation. Now they are playing games not wanting to reimburse the charges. It is clearly their error and they need to make it right. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything, absolutely horrible operation. read more

The hotel was ok. The Pool was refreshing cool. The reason I gave this rating was the breakfast attendant. She was grumpy, and she gave me anxiety being so close to me and just pushing her way up to the counter. My Grand children were not finished eating she was taking their food off the tables. The last day of our stay she had a tip , she rushed in there while my sister and I were eating, and took her tip as if she was worried we would take her tip. NOT pet friendly. I stay with La Quinta because the brand is supposed to be pet friendly. Every now and then you get bait-and-switched into booking a room with a La Quinta that charges extra for your pet. There is of course no mention of this at booking. They call it a "pet fee" but if my room is 30% more expensive because I brought my dog with me, you're penalizing me financially for having a pet. And that's definitely NOT the pet friendly welcome that I grown accustomed to as a loyal La Quinta (Wyndham) Diamond member for a decade. It is unfortunate I may have to reconsider my brand loyalty because of hotels like this one. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. At 1am, the smoke alarm started chirping low battery every few minutes. So a trip to the front desk to get a ladder and 9v battery so I can do the basic maintenance the hotel obviously hasn't. Obvious because the battery I removed expired 8 years ago in 2014, making it probably at least 10 years since anyone bothered to check that alarm. Finally at 6 am when I was ready to get away from this place as quickly as possible, I found broken glass all over the parking lot. The police had been there for hours investigating multiple cars with broken windows. Fortunately my ride was spared and I didn't have to spend the day waiting for repairs, but many others weren't so fortunate. Avoid avoid avoid!! read more

The customer service was great from the time we walked in the door. The smell of the pool in the lobby was a bit unpleasant. We were put on the 3rd floor which is supposed to be kid free and for business travelers. The carpet in the halls needed replaced and it looks as if they are remodeling. Missing light fixtures in the halls. The rooms have water damage and smell a bit of mold. The air conditioner shuts down in the middle of the night. 5 Stars! This will be my "Go-To" hotel when passing through Springfield. Customer service was friendly and knowledgeable and I really enjoyed my stay. As you can see by the picture that I posted, the third floor is dedicated to be a quite zone. EVERY HOTEL SHOULD HAVE THIS. While we were driving cross country with our dogs, we stayed at many La Quinta Hotels. The whole La Quinta Brand impressed us. Almost every hotel we stayed at was pretty good! The La Quinta in Springfield, while it wasn't too bad was our least favorite out of all the places we stayed that were La Quinta. The set up of the room was a little off as well as it being smaller. And, it was a little dark in there...even with all the lights on. The wooden floor right in the entryway seemed a little dirty but it could be because of the color of the wood. Regardless, I would still recommend this La Quinta if I were travelling through Springfield. The bed was nice and clean, the staff here were nice. This location is easy to find, and it is very dog friendly. Also, you're right across the street from Andy's Frozen Custard lol! What could go wrong? read more

THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO BE RENOVATED. My family has traveled from CA headed to NC due to change in job. We've stayed in multiple LaQuintas along the way with no issues until now. This is by far the most outdated hotel I have EVER stayed in. There's mold and mildew all in the bathroom. Baseboards need replacing. There is what looks like a hole behind the base board. Sink mirror hasn't been taken care of or updated. Caulking around the tub sucks. It's chipping and peeling. Shower need an extreme update. Doors are ridiculous the lock on the bathroom sucks. Lock on the room door needs replacing. Carpet needs replacing. Pulling up on the corner. The beds need replacing as well. Headboards are extremely damaged. The sheets don't even fit. And OUR ROOM SMELLS LIKE A FUNERAL HOME. Yes I said it, FUNERAL HOME. Definitely not happy with this hotel. If we happen to travel through here again, we definitely won't be staying here read more

I'm starting to become quite the La Quinta fan. For the price, these are great hotels. And, in my opinion, they seem to be more consistent among different locations than other low-cost chains. The down-sides for this location: - Only 3 pillows for a queen bed. - The walls between rooms are very thin. The awesome for this location: - They have a happy hour! There's no bar or restaurant, but they have a happy hour! $2 beers (and not just the cheap, icky ones) for a couple of hours each night. You have to totally appreciate and love that. Otherwise, very much on par with other La Quintas I've experienced - clean, nice, decent size rooms, pools, good selection of TV channels, free internet, etc. I plan on racking up some serious La Quinta points as I think this is now my go-to hotel chain. read more

We stayed last night. Room was ok other than it had a large rusty spot on the side of the tub. The girl at the front desk was friendly. The breakfast in the morning was good. The hotel was updated and clean. We felt safe. The room was quiet and dark during the night. The morning though, dogs were barking and families were in hallway and it was noisy beginning about 6am. They designate the 3rd floor as quiet/business/pet free floor, which is where we were. However, 2 families had dogs. This morning, the elevator wasn't working well and we took the stairs, which we take stairs a lot. There was dog poo all the way down the stairway. We reported it to housekeeping and they immediately cleaned it up. Breakfast was okay with yogurt, boiled eggs, 2 kinds of cereal, oatmeal, danishes/small muffins and fruit. No juice. Stayed overnight when arrived in Springfield, MO after a 28 hour drive from CA. The rooms were clean but bathrooms need to be updated. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was good. Needed to get ahold of the front desk at 6AM to notify them of a noise we were awoken to, so I called the front desk twice and no one answered. Finally had to walk down to the front desk which was unattended. The sound was finally taken care of once I found a hotel employee. Good and comfortable stay but front desk needs to be attended to 24 hours. read more

Great location to the Bass-Pro Shop and the White River Conference Center. Our room was clean....clean and cool and quiet. The breakfast service was very good and the lady working the service could not have been more delightful. The happy hour service was very nice too. We had a big group that took a third of the hotel and they started the happy hour a little early for us without a whimper. We tipped the server lady like crazy people. Those in our group who used the pool and hot tub were complimentary about this too. Front Desk folks were delightful. Free Wi-Fi that worked well! Nice bandwidth too. read more

We are currently staying in La Quinta Springfield South. It's almost 2am, and we have not been able to sleep. The people in the room next to us are yelling, squealing, running up and down the hall, and blasting the tv. We have called the front desk asking them to please do something 3 tines. They keep assuring us they will, but it's now over 30 minutes later and nothing. I can't believe we are paying this much to not even be able to sleep. Our child keeps waking up, and we can't even get to sleep. The lack of concern and assistance has definitely turned me off of staying at La Quinta's ever again. I had a lovely stay! Was booked there for a business trip. Breakfast was phenomenal and I quite enjoyed their happy hour as well($2 beer, $3 wine, $4 mixed drinks after 5.) They took very good care of me and I have requested we continue to be booked there for future business trips. Ayla and Randi were amazing. I believe an Amanda sold me some Girl Scout cookies but it was late and I may be wrong about the name. They were kind, professional, and extremely accommodating. The breakfast/bar area was consistently clean and tidy. Plus, my biggest win here, they have a waffle maker! They also provide a blueberry mix as well as regular buttermilk. I will say I was very sad about the hot tub not working and hearing they were removing it completely. So fingers crossed they get a new one in! Either way, this wouldn't deter me wanting to stay there or change my rating at all. These ladies were truly lovely and I genuinely appreciated the services La Quinta provided for us. I practically live in hotels all over the world. I was not impressed by anything at this location. If you drove to this place and have animals staying with you, it would probably be OK, but I am allergic to cats and most likely stayed in a room frequented by animals. The allergic reaction was not pleasant, and there are no animal free rooms available. Also, no curtesy transportation and In the winter the sidewalks are filled with snow and ice. Initially everything seems acceptable with the hotel. Just prior to going to lay in the bed I noticed an insect crawling on the sheet. After close inspection I discovered it was a bed bug. I had check into room 125 only 15 minutes prior. I took the bed bug to the front desk and they offered me an alternate room. I responded by telling her if one room has bed bugs there's too great a chance that other or all rooms have bed bugs. I also told her we would not be staying and taking the risk of taking bed bugs home with me and requested a refund. I had booked through Travelocity which was no help in refunding my money. Our family had an excellent stay here. Both the night and day staff were friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and well stocked. Breakfast was also wonderful with many choices of both hot and cold items. They had a mini convenience store in the lobby where you can bill items right to the room. We didn't use the pool but it looked well cleaned and provided swim toys for children. They also offer a military discount which was helpful. read more

I had an emergency and needed another room and the desk clerk said point eligible rooms were available but I needed to call the Elite line to book it. DO NOT GO HERE!! If I could give zero stars, I would. Right from the getgo, the front desk associate, Allenia (I think that's how it's spelled) had given me tons of attitude. She gave us our room key with out telling us what room number we were or where to go. We find the room which was almost 80 degrees and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in days. After about 30 minutes, I undid one of the beds to uncover that there where pee stains. My friend and I spent about the next hour trying to figure out another place to stay and went downstairs to go check out and get a refund. I was told that she talked to her general manager (off of her personal phone in the other room) and was told that I was not going to be offered a refund because I was "in there too long". I asked if I could talk to the general manager and was refused of that too. I then asked for a copy of my receipt and was also told that I could not get an email from them. read more
