Fun to go to a bar/hotel/restaurant built and operated from 1893. Loved the swinging doors as you enter the bar. Great assortment of beers on tap as well as some creative cocktails. Loved that you could eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. You can also munch on pretzel sticks and popcorn all complimentary. Fun pool table in the middle of trophy heads watching you play. Great meal! The atmosphere made for a really interesting stopover on a road trip following a soak in the Saratoga Springs. My husband and I had the prime rib dinner, which was excellent. The salad bar (included) was full of fresh vegetables, but the true star of the show was obviously the prime rib. Juicy, great flavor, and cooked just as requested. Great service also. Make sure you check out the saloon side before leaving! It was packed when we were there, but on a less busy night, it would've been a fun place for a drink or two. read more

We generally enjoyed our stay in Saratoga (the hot springs are some of the best we've ever experienced), but Jamie brought of lack of hospitality I have never experienced before. We will never return to this place. We received what we expected in the room at a very reasonable price. We run a five star lodge in Estes Park, CO, and I have never experienced the kind of treatment I received from Jamie. She went out of her way to antagonize and insult my wife repeatedly throughout the night for not being a local to the point that she was brought to tears. I would never tolerate an employee treating a guest this way. I almost never leave reviews, but this experience was exceptionally hostile, and I can't believe anybody would allow an employee to treat a guest this way. After a fake apology, Jamie decided that round 2 was in order. Businesses like this end up on Hotel Impossible and can't understand why. We spent hours driving from an exceptional tourist destination to bring our family to a new place we had never experienced before. We received nothing but insults and unbridled hostility from the bartender at our hotel specifically targeted at my wife. The idea that we paid money for this experience is absolutely insane. I genuinely hope this hotel fails and is purchased by a competent hospitality professional. There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior. If you encounter Jamie still employed at the bar here, leave immediately. read more

Stayed here a couple of nights and considering the lack of hotel options in Saratoga (a population of 1,000), I guess it was fine. Probably the smallest room I've ever had with a tiny window that hardly opened. The Asian girl that checked us in was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever seen. She had no personality and was so rude during our 5 minute encounter. Overheard her talking to another coworker and she was very demeaning and condesending. I'm glad I didn't run into her again. We had a big group of fun folks here for dinner, shrimp scampi, steaks, burgers, fish, wines, and cocktails. We loved everything about it. Even the server was fun and hung out with us for a bit. We ended our evening in the saloon where you really feel like you're living in during the Gold Rush. It was a good time and I'll be back if I'm ever in Saratoga again. read more

Saratoga is such a great little town and this is a good place to visit. Heard all about their prime rib and decided to celebrate the completion of training by visiting the hot springs and a prime rib dinner. Couple of tips - you do not need a reservation for dinner necessarily, however if you want prime rib, make a reservation. It was disappointing even after reading reviews and their website to be told by the waitress that they only cut enough portions based on who makes reservations. Ended up with the filet minion which was delicious, however when your heart is set on something it is never as awesome! The vibe is cool and the entire hotel has a very old and warm feel. Would be fun to stay sometime and will be sure to make reservations for the prime rib! read more

Good place to have lunch and supper when in Saratoga and probably the best place period to have a fancy meal in this town and have it delicious! The Hotel Wolf is a great historical landmark for Saratoga and has a nice decor inside all the way from the dining room to the bar. Upstairs is ok too where the rooms are! I find it somewhat objectionable that some of the older rooms are not quite your usual hotel fare. The older unremodeled rooms have a naked bulb hanging from the ceiling but the bed looks nice enough and the restrooms are ok. I was most impressed with the suite that was remodeled it look like a period piece of someone's living room in a SOHO town home. Truly disappointing.... Today we were excited to try The Wolf Again since it was probably 20 plus years since we were last there. My husband ordered the BLT and I, on a recommendation from our waitress, ordered the Wolf Burger. basically a hamburger. There only seemed to be 2 gals in A very busy restaurant and our waitress was also the cashier. The only thing I could see she wasn't doing was busing the tables. So I understand why she was not so pleasant. So back to my burger. I ordered it medium,which should be just pink in the middle. What I got was a more medium rare and when cut the blood ran everywhere. ....On my plate and on my bun. Ugh! So I very kindly and apologetically asked to have it cooked a little more. The waitress asked me " so how did you ask to have it cooked?" I said medium. She took the order so I'm pretty sure she knew how I ordered it.I hate returning food to the kitchen, actually never do because What I got back at least 15 minutes later was a burnt piece of meat. My husbands BLT was good he said. The waitress was definitely giving us the cold shoulder as she pretended we weren't there. My husband is a super easy guy to get along with and hates to create waves so he didn't, but a surprise to me after we left he told me he didn't leave A very big tip and I asked how much, and he said he left her just a $2.00 tip. The restaurant is very small and very popular, so it can have pretty long wait times. But, we managed to get a couple of seats at the bar and were served dinner there - which i was more than happy with. Started out with some onion rings; perfectly breaded. Very light batter and not greasy at all. The onions themselves were very tender and truly melted in your mouth. After having the rings and a few beers, I wasn't in the mood for a big dinner and just had a burger. Darned good,, excellent, fresh roll and cooked to perfection. My cohort had a chicken sandwich which he said as excellent as well. We also stayed at the hotel this night. The single rooms were small but clean and quaint. I paid around $75 for the night and was happy with that. If ever in the area again and in need of accommodation and food, I'll hit the Wolf again. read more

During summer appears you really do need a reservation to get a table. We figured out that early enough and made one at the bar with bartender. Dining room doesn't open until 6 pm, which seems late to me. Food was fairly good. Burger was good. Fries were the fresh cut ones. Sweet potato fries looked awesome and wish I would have got them. The salad bar was very impressive and you could make an actual salad that would make you happy with fresh greens, vegetables, fruits, and various dressings to choose from. The scallops appetizer was good, and we enjoyed both of our entrees: the prime rib and the lamb chops. I made reservations and would suggest doing so. First I would like to start by saying that the ambiance is amazing. We stayed in the attic suite for a couple nights, but only ate here once. I have high expectations when it comes to a steaks (guess its due to being from KCMO) and the Wolfe fell slightly short due to how it was cooked (I requested MediumRare) and the high prices. At the same time, I am able to say that I ate a steak in Saratoga, WY - in a Hotel from the 1800's that is a historic site. And that's really very cool in itself. The staff were great and housekeeping was wonderful but the room we chose did not look like the picture and what we didn't know was they had converted the attic into a room. There is no air conditioning and to be honest probably most of the time you don't need AC but unfortunately for us we needed the AC since it was very warm and all we had was 2 fans and the windows. There is no elevator and the stairs are very steep and the treads are really narrow and will not fit your whole foot, but again the building is very old. It was very clean. The bathroom had a metal ladder you threw out the window if there is a fire and the shower is very small. You have to watch out because it is very easy to bump your head because it is a converted attic with sloped roof. There were copper pipes running all along the walls, I guess maybe water pipes. The restaurant and bar was outstanding. If we came back I would not stay in the same room because dragging suitcases up all those stairs is something I never want to do again. It was a unique experience but not a fan of the room. read more

This is a good place to get some drinks and some good food. The food is good. They don't have a huge selection of beers on tap, but have more craft brews than the other bars in town. The bar area is very small and gets crowded very quickly. The bartenders are usually friendly, though the last time I was there the bartender was very standoffish and cold, despite only two other patrons in the bar. I was surprised to see a salad bar in an establishment that charges such high prices for the entrees. Basically if I'm paying $25 for my plate, make my salad for me. The beer was lukewarm, after three tries, we ordered mixed drinks. The steak was mediocre, nothing special... the cuts are NOT what they say they are and anyone who can identify a cut will notice that... they are serving butchered up sirloins as higher end cuts. The sides are all boring, fries, sauteed veggies... all blah, not enough seasoning. My server told me they don't season the food because the older patrons don't eat salt! Wow. The sleeping accommodations are nice. Checking in and out was hassle free and made for an enjoyable experience. I'd stay here again for those reasons only. Dinner was less than pleasant. First was my drink order, I ordered a double scotch neat. It was an expensive drink and they served it in a glass filled to the top with ice, despite the fact I asked for it to be neat. I then ordered my dinner, which was a medium-rare steak with seared vegetables. The steak came well done with vegetables that were more burned than seared. I was not happy with what turned out to be an expensive meal. The flavor was only so-so given the overcooked steak and over-seared vegetables. The restaurant had a really cool vibe to it, I don't really know how to describe it. I came with a party of 13 and the place was very accommodating. I ordered the teriyaki steak with a soup and salad bar. The soup was FANTASTIC, some of the best I've ever had (though I can't remember what it was for the life of me). The salad portion was pretty standard. As far as the actual meal, the steak was a bit of a letdown. Not a lot of flavor to it compared to other delicious steaks I've had in the past. Lived in and outside of Saratoga for @ 6 years. Definitely the best food in town (besides The elite Old Baldy Club) . The bar is "ok"; like the rest of Saratoga you have to understand that if you weren't born there or have lived there for 20 years you'll never be part of the clique (not that it really matters or you'd even want to be). Saratoga's run and controlled by the Campbells (owners of the Wolf), the Glodes (Shively's North and Shively's hardware) the Maclvains (owners of the Cantina) the Raymers (construction outfit) and Everett Grubb (another builder). So if you want a very good meal it's the Wolf for sure. Just looking for a drink and a good time with real people? Stop into the bar for a drink before dinner - and after too ;) It's a neat old bar with lots of cools old stuff to check out. This is Wyoming, and they still allow smoking in here. So, don't get your feathers in a ruffle if they person next to you lights up. Just go with it, or skip it. Then, head to the main dinning room for a steak dinner. It's a no frills meal with choice of steak, side and the soup salad bar. Honestly, not the kind of place I would seek out normally. But, when in Saratoga, I love it. The salad bar has everything you need for a mountain of a salad and there is a homemade soup. Very charming hotel! We checked in late on a Friday night and out on Monday morning. The gentleman that greeted us and gave us our key was very friendly and the housekeeping staff were very helpful when we needed extra towels, etc. So disappointed we didn't have time to eat at the dining room because we heard (and smelled) that it was great. Was in town for work one night and stayed at this hotel. I'm from the city so this was a different experience but a nice one. The guy at the front desk, who also ran the bar, was super cool and spot on with our food orders. The wolf cut ribs and the wolf steak were cooked perfect. Nothing to write home about but a solid meal. The room was super warm but you can shut off the old oil radiant heaters and open some windows. Bathroom was nice with an updated shower unit. My comforter looked very suspect and 30 years old, but everything smelled and appeared clean. These guys do a great job for a small town establishment, so take it for what it is. read more
