If you are only going to Hott for teeth cleaning, they do a good job. The dental hygienists are professional and friendly. However, I have two issues: 1st, they will cancel your appointments with very little notice and not reschedule you for 8 months. This happened twice to my husband in the past year. Instead of being able to have his teeth cleaned every 6 months, his appointments would be 20 months apart. Secondly, do not trust them to be knowledgeable/honest upfront about patient responsibility for payments. I was told that a procedure would be paid 50% by my insurance; I paid my half ($800) upfront only to be billed for another $450 one month later because insurance wouldn't pay. They are "sorry" but it is my responsibility. I will not go back again. read more

Switched to this dentist after asking for pricing and finding them comparable. Knew my daughter had a lot of fillings and was told oh Dr Hott does discounts if your self pay. Got her there to be told fairly rudely that almost all her teeth need filled and it's not genetics. Even though it definitely is. And the pricing I was quoted was inaccurate AND Dr Hott never gives and discounts of any kind. Feel like they were completely dishonest and very expensive. read more

First of all I am a long time patient of Dr. Hotts, however, I will NOT be going back. I have called this office numerous times over the last year to year and a half with NO return calls. The last time they called me to schedule an appointment was about a year or so ago when my son was there and told them I had been trying to call regarding an issue I was having at the time. They do call to cancel my appointments on a regular basis and always say they will call back to reschedule my appointment, which they NEVER have done. I drove to their office 3 weeks ago because I had left several messages regarding a broken tooth. They scheduled an appointment for later that week and then called to let me know the office was closed that day and they would reschedule the appointment. they NEVER called me back. Today I drove back to Bluffton to advise that my tooth had now broken and I was in pain, there was no appointment available. The lady I talked to said she understood but there was nothing she could do to help. I asked her why they never return any of my calls and why I need to drive to their office to talk to someone and she said "well we try to return calls but it gets crazy busy". She didn't even look to see if they could get me in to get my broken tooth taken care of even though I told her I was in a lot of pain. NOTHING!! I then requested a copy of my dental records to take to a new Dentist. She would not let me talk to Dr. Hott or the Office Manager, she said" that's not how we handle things here". I continued to tell her that I was a long time patient and I pay my bills on time, usually when my appointment is over. She didn't care, she didn't even try to keep me as a patient. I take this as a personal attack, for some reason they do not want me to be a patient even though I have always been courteous, anyone that knows me knows I am normally not a confrontational person. I treat other people with respect. It is apparent to me that they do not like me for some reason and no longer want me to be a patient. I am very disappointed in this as I have been going there for probably 10 years or so. I do not understand.........they have never advised nor have I ever received anything from them advising they no longer wanted me to be a patient or be treated in their office. read more

My experience with Hott family dentistry was definitely a thumbs down. I feel that a lot of the dental work is left to the assistants and is not being properly checked by the dentist. I had a crown. When the temporary crown was put on by the assistant, it was not checked by the doctor before leaving. It came off the same day and broke into several pieces. So that had to be replaced. When my permanent crown was put on, I did developed an infection. I understand that this can happen and is not uncommon. So I was sent home with a prescription for three antibiotic pills and told that I needed a root canal. They did not have an appointment to do that until over a month away. Although they do take daily walk-ins. This boggles my mind. As I was not comfortable in their office, I went to another dental practice in Bluffton and was very pleased with the time and care that they spent with me. I had an abscess under the tooth that they placed the crown on. I also was told that the crown was not a good fit. I had already suspected that. So I definitely need a root canal and now have to have another crown. My insurance will not repay to have a crown on the same tooth. I also want you to be aware that it was not Dr. Hott Who had done my dental work, but another doctor that is working in the office. Dr.Hott had done my initial dental assessment. I would give it two out of five stars. It seems like they are trying to move too many patients in and out in a days time and not taking the needed time to make sure their work is done correctly. Best dentist around. They are good people, very professional. The building is always clean. They don't overcharge. They take time to talk to patients and try to help them in any way they can. They definitely care about their patients. I always liked the dentists here. They would not answer their phone in the past, which upset me. I could never schedule an appointment. I had written a bad review, hoping they would notice this and get it figured out. The scheduling is great here now. I have been to other dentists, and they are terrible, overcharge, make up excessive dental work for more income, and even mess teeth up for more income. then overcharge more. They never cared about their patients either. They don't do that here. They don't need to lie anyway because everyone goes to them for dental work. They are the best dentists anywhere I have been, not just from Bluffton, Indiana. I didn't know my bad review was up until now. Sorry read more

Don't go here if you expect to be heard or listened to. You get treated like crap anytime you voice your opinion or tell them you don't want something. They don't value you as a person/individual, but sure do charge an arm and a leg for things they expect you to live with. read more
