Hotwire is a West Seattle classic! I've lived nearby and been coming here for years. It's never been the closest coffee shop to my house, but it's always one I keep coming back too or stop by when I want a treat drink. Beverages are made with Kara every time. The seasonal menu always has great tasty stuff. The coffee is high-quality. What else can you ask for? The outdoor area is a great place to relax for a bit, but can get busy during the summer and is too cold in the winter when it's more of a grab and go for me on the way to work, etc. Hotwire is great from the friendly staff to the great beverages and local pastries. Enjoyed this spot on the main drag in West Seattle. It's a bit of a tight fit and in cold weather, that means that customers stand in the doorway, so it can get chilly (staff tries to close the door when possible). There is a unisex bathroom that requires a key; the bathroom is not super tidy but it's acceptable. Same for the tables - we had to wipe ours off ourselves yet there is surely a heavy turnaround and only two folks at the counter. Seating is limited inside, and there is more outside. I liked the wall decorations, including cycling outfits indicating that Hotwire sponsors cycling, and emphasis on PRIDE. Had a delicious scone and tasty Italian soda. Staff was pleasant. read more

What a lovely neighborhood coffee shop with excellent coffee.. i stopped by and tried their Orange Kissed Mocha and thats all I needed to get through my day.. i was at first apprehensive of orange peel interfering with my dark chocolate but boy was I wrong.. perfect tinge of orange with just about right amount of chocolate what makes this my fav drink here.. i regret not stopping by earlier but now I will be coming back for more regularly! I don't know how I went so long without trying this place out! After I did, I went twice within a week. Luckily, I don't depend on coffee to function, but sometimes I crave a coffee drink just for the taste. So many options sound good to me, and it's nice I can get it decaf for an afternoon coffee. I haven't tried their regular offerings yet, as their Autumn Specials sounded too tasty to pass up: - Oversized Sweater: The honey overpowered the gingerbread in my opinion. I was hoping for something reminiscent of Starbucks gingerbread latte, but I did not taste much gingerbread. My boyfriend liked this as it wasn't too sweet. - Game Nights: This was good and the hint of orange was perfect! - Social Distancing: No coffee in this one - just chai plus apple cider. Perfect for fall. Service was very friendly both times. I just wished they mentioned/reminded about their punch cards to help me remember to get it punched! ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! We visited this place back in March, so the drinks may not be the same. However, I really liked this place so I knew I had to write a review. We were feeling the afternoon slump and needed a caffeine pick me up. We passed by this place and thought we should give the local Seattle coffee a try. This space was very cute! They had a couple of outdoor tables. Also it was clearly labeled for online pick-up and they had tons of doggy treats! Our pups were so spoiled by them. They also have their own merchandise and some pastries. Orange-kissed mocha: 5/5 my partner got this, and it was DELICIOUS. it was a smooth dark chocolate so it wasn't overly sweet with just enough orange flavor, and it didn't taste artificial! Sasquatch (salted pistachio mocha): 4/5 I typically don't go for mochas, but after trying the orange-kissed mocha, I thought I had to try this one as well (also I love pistachio so why not!) it was a little harder to discern between the flavors and salted pistachio gave it a slight salty flavor. It was good, but not mind-glowingly delicious. They also have some caffeine free options for anyone who can't do caffeine. Doggy treats: 5/5 our pups loved it and would recommend this place for other doggies and their humans Service was cool- they were patient with us and the drinks were good; if we are ever in the neighborhood again I'd like to try another one of their seasonal drinks! read more

Cute little cafe! The baristas/cashiers are friendly and they have a bunch of specialty offerings on their menu. Lattes, blended drinks, and smoothies too. They even gave food like breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the caramel/lavender latte one morning. The marigold latte also sounded good and I want to try that next time. My latte was not bad - I didnt really detect a lavender flavor. The name of the cafe kind of confuses me - I expected a larger space with more seating that would be good for working/studying. They actually have three desktop computers and then a few small tables (maybe three?) that you could work on. And then they have seats in the outdoor patio area, but it's not really conducive to working there either. They do offer a texting service for ordering your coffee. Though I haven't tried it, it seems convenient if you know what you want. You text your order and then it should be ready for you to pick up when you arrive! read more

I ordered a double short latte, but it only tasted like milk. Also they don't seem to know that they have a full array of vegan sandwiches available. The vegan sandwich was good. The server was very nice. Now I just hope the making of coffee and the knowledge of the vegan foods improves. It's expensive so I hate wasting the money if the coffee isn't good. read more

I enjoyed this offbeat-ish, pleasant, cool and rather invitingly warm cafe with an offset, yet welcoming, entrance. It's a really tasteful, tiny space, I thought. And awesome being able to LQQK straight at green vine stuff out the front door. (read: lush.green.foilage). The pleasantly friendly gals up front mentioned you can get a spicy or sweet chai---sweet, please, tyvm. Maybe I'll try dirty or coffee next time. I really want to like this spot since it's a cozy walk up with great outdoor seating in the neighborhood, but the coffee is pretty consistently bad and extremely overpriced... we're talking $5.50 for a 16oz americano, over $7 for a 20oz latte. Their coffee is always amazing and I love how they create new specialty menus with different options for each season. Stopped in here when in the area recently and loved it! This one is going on my list of cool, quiet places to chill when I'm feeling introverted. They have a lovely little outdoor space that while not exactly scenic in terms of views is nice and secluded with the greens overflowing the patio area. I also like that they have 'day old pastry' because why waste and still tasty! I ended up getting a hibiscus iced tea which was deeeeelightful! Not over flowery like many places (Starbucks) but had an almost cinnamon after taste with added nice earthy notes to it, really refreshing. The girl working the counter was actually pleasant which I find a rarity in the Seattle area so that was a nice surprise! Hotwire is hands down one of my top favorite coffee shops in West Seattle.. or probably Seattle, period. Reasons why: - Excellent variety and a plethora of delicious speciality drinks (seriously, try the Sasquatch, it's amazing) - speed. I've never had to wait very long for a drink, and I always get an apology if I do have to wait a little bit longer than usual when they're busy. - street parking is easy to find since they're towards the end of the junction. - friendly staff that will recognize you quickly once you're there more than a couple of times. - Seating, although very limited, is still nice. I enjoy sitting outside amongst the vines, people watching, or saying hello to the many pups that frequently stop by with their owners. if you are looking for a cafe that you can curl up on a couch at, this is not it. but if you want a great latte, mocha, and a chill vibe, stop by. read more

I really enjoy the outdoor seating at Hotwire. Its a cute little space and feels like a coffee shop you'd see in a small European city. They have good WiFi, friendly staff, and decent prices. I'm not sure how they do it but they somehow make my chai tea lattes insanely fast - faster than both Starbucks and Uptown - without downgrading any taste or quality. I swear it takes all of 30 seconds and the drink is done. I'm always a fan of supporting local businesses, especially coffee shops. Since moving to West Seattle over a year ago I've been on a mission to find the best oat milk Mexican mocha & in my opinion Hotwire does it the best! It's the cutest walk up coffee shop tucked away just next to the post office. Reasonable and comparable prices to other coffee shops in the area! Only thing I wish they'd switch to is ditching the straws and using the iced coffee lids with the sip spout like other coffee shops in the area have! read more
