We just have one interaction with this spot so far and it was enough to turn not only me but also my coffee klatch friend off - that was when we reached out to them via email to ask about their holiday hours. First, they have a kinda funny but could be questionable in terms of politeness msg on their phone that tells you they never check their messages. Umkay. I mean, I appreciate the honesty and I don't like to check my messages either but also I'm not a business....So, they encourage you to email, which we did. Are you open on this day? One word response: No. I mean, no "Hi" no "Thanks for your interest" Just "No." This might not have been as noticeable if we hadn't received an exact opposite response from another coffee spot that WAS open and sent a very friendly email reply. So...If it was just me I might not be writing this but my friend that does coffee with me immediately also said she was no longer going here if that was how they respond to potential customers. :( Maybe this was a one-off. Came here to grab a coffee and bite while killing time, in the late morning of a weekday. I had an oat cortado and a blueberry scone. Coffee is good, balance between bitter and sweet. Also their customer service is great which can be challenging to find in a lot of cafes. In West Seattle, I would say this one of three of my favorite/go-to coffee shops in the area. It's really one of the first places where I enjoyed a flavored latte. Per this location, their brown sugar nutmeg latte is a staple to me. They do also feature a few seasonal drinks to be on the lookout for. The consistency of the drinks are never changing and the sweet ness in their in house made syrups yield just the right sweetness where it works in harmony to highlight the coffee flavor. Another perk they have is their rewards program where after earning 10 kittens (1 kitter per transaction of I think a minimum $2.50 transaction). You get $5.00 of your next purchase. It used to be any drink free but with increasing costs of goods, I could understand the switch. They also offer a minimalistic ambiance and knickknacks for sale. Quaint little coffeeshop tucked away in a quiet street away from the busy roads. Never knew this place existed, but apparently they opened about 8 years ago. I originally came in because I needed a place to work on my laptop while my car was being worked on nearby. Unfortunately this place has limited seating and no wifi. Most of the lower reviews I see for Sound & Fog are because of this issue, but I personally don't think this should be the big reason for lowering the rating down. I still wanted to support this small business, so I ordered the butterfly pea drink after seeing so many photos of this mystical blue drink. It's essentially a milk tea with a floral taste-profile, and after the first sip I had already knew this was incredible. The drink itself was a pleasant experience and warmed me up during the cold day. This is a really cute little spot! Very modern and clean and has a small but unique menu. I really liked my Sound & Fog Tea Latte and my partner had a seasonal Brown Sugar and Nutmeg Latte. I've been to sound & fog a few times since moving here and I think their espresso is great. This time I went I was very disappointed which the drinks I ordered. We ordered a 16oz latte and a 16oz matcha lemonade. The matcha lemonade was nice and refreshing, but the matcha was practically nonexistent. The latte was basically just milk. We watched the barista making the latte and I thought a 16oz latte normally comes with two shots of espresso, but the barista only added one. So our drinks were not good, but the beans we got were pretty good! read more

I actually kind of prefer it that way, though, as it makes for an easy and quiet spot to just sit, get some work done, and have good coffee. Sound & Fog is a really nice cafe. I love that it is walkable from my place. There is ample seating inside and out. The lattes are amazing. The beautiful latte art on the surface of our drinks made us stop and take a picture before we enjoyed them. There are sweet and savory offerings to go with your drink order. The baristas were very pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed checking out the selection of coffee beans, chocolate, wine and cute swag. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because there is no WiFi and no oven to warm the pastries and biscuits. I dig the unique name and rather sleepy offbeat location. Spacious few seating options inside or outside. A retail shelf is a neat buffer between the coffee bar and seats. Just a neat spot with staff ranging from indifferent, friendly and subtle curmudgeon. They know awesome artisanal craft coffee and make great oat decaf lattes; nice feel & smooth. I think the water:milk ratio is a little heavy on the water side in my opinion but I didn't mind. fhe sweetness level is perfect and I would definitely come here again for one! - my mom got the brown sugar nutmeg latte and it was so yummy but she couldnt taste the nutmeg - my dad got the white mocha americano and it wasn't his favorite. In his opinion it tasted weak and sour, the white mocha tasted unusual and he couldn't finish his beverage. The cup also had over an inch of room which was interesting There are lots of seating inside and out making it a great place to meet up with friends but note they do not offer wifi so I wouldn't suggest working here-- unless you have a strong hotspot! I wouldn't say this coffee shop is super warm or inviting, it feels more like a retail shop than anything else (although you can drink your beverage there). There's a cooler for to-go beverages as well as shelves with uniquely sourced coffee, merchandise, and curated picks of wines and aperitifs. A cute modern coffee shop that deserves all of its 5 Stars and more! My GF and I have refrained from trying coffee shops in the past since the experience often lead to sour, overly bitter, or burnt coffee. However this place has reignited that desire to explore and discover the delicious treat best served in the morning. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon entry. To be safe we ordered the latte, mocha and cold brew and wow we were surprised! All of them were so rich/bold in flavor and had a smooth finish. This is the experience we had been craving for. The espresso has a beautiful sweet crema that allows them to make gorgeous latte art. You can really tell that these baristas are masters at their craft just by seeing how they prepare each cup. Besides coffee, they also sell some pastries that compliment the coffee quite well like, croissants, macarons, etc. They also sell wine, beer, and some merchandise which was not so common, but very cool to see. I definitely plant to come back and buy some of their coffee beans so I can brew it at home. I'd highly recommend coming here to get your coffee/tea fix. You will not be disappointed! read more

Cute little coffee shop here in West Seattle right behind the busy Fauntleroy road. Stopped by and grabbed a spiced chai latte (which I loved) and an apple cider (divine). A friend used to live in West Seattle, and I have visited Sound & Fog several times because it was her favorite coffee spot. Went there again yesterday to have a cortado and buy some beans. They always have an interesting selection of beans from multiple roasters on offer--I bought beans from Calendar Coffee in Galway, Ireland. In addition to their staple of beans from Heart Roasters (their house espresso) they had beans from Little Wolf and Talor (and maybe one more). I love that these are always rotating--it is a good place to learn about/try something new. The cortado was great, as have been all the coffees I had here. During the pandemic, they do not have any indoor seating but have taken the opportunity to display some coffee related items for sale, including some great cups/mugs.
