They care about the details: not neutral cups, quality roasters they support & brew, beverage quality top tier, great syrup/sauces. Also their customer service is great which can be challenging to find in a lot of cafes. We're from Maryland and spotted out 3/4 must go to cafes, S&F was our first stop and we'll definitely be back next time we're in Seattle thank you for a great experience!

In West Seattle, I would say this one of three of my favorite/go-to coffee shops in the area. It's really one of the first places where I enjoyed a flavored latte. Per this location, their brown sugar nutmeg latte is a staple to me. They do also feature a few seasonal drinks to be on the lookout for. The consistency of the drinks are never changing and the sweet ness in their in house made syrups yield just the right sweetness where it works in harmony to highlight the coffee flavor. Another perk they have is their rewards program where after earning 10 kittens (1 kitter per transaction of I think a minimum $2.50 transaction). You get $5.00 of your next purchase. It used to be any drink free but with increasing costs of goods, I could understand the switch. They also offer a minimalistic ambiance and knickknacks for sale. Last note* no wifi and outside food or drinks allowed to be consumed Anyways try them out.

Quaint little coffeeshop tucked away in a quiet street away from the busy roads. Never knew this place existed, but apparently they opened about 8 years ago. I originally came in because I needed a place to work on my laptop while my car was being worked on nearby. Unfortunately this place has limited seating and no wifi. Most of the lower reviews I see for Sound & Fog are because of this issue, but I personally don't think this should be the big reason for lowering the rating down. I still wanted to support this small business, so I ordered the butterfly pea drink after seeing so many photos of this mystical blue drink. It's essentially a milk tea with a floral taste-profile, and after the first sip I had already knew this was incredible. The drink itself was a pleasant experience and warmed me up during the cold day. I would come back just for this drink again, and would also be interested in trying out their other beverages.

One of my most frequented coffee shops in West Seattle! No wifi, so bring a friend or a book or a hotspot :) You order at the counter and make your way down to the register. They sell ceramics from Copenhagen and source coffee beans from all over. Beans are rotating. Check their IG! They also have a bunch of wine to choose from. Brown sugar nutmeg latte: this is usually my ole reliable because I know it's good. Not too sweet, good espresso, and some latte art

Small neighborhood coffee shop located in West Seattle. Parking is easy to find. The interior is pretty with plenty of seating (wasn't busy). They also sell a selection of wine. But no WiFi, wouldn't come here to study or work. Outdoor seating also available. We ordered the Sound & Fog Latte (Iced) and Iced Tiramisu Latte (Seasonal). The Sound & Fog reminded me of a mix of a florally earl gray tea and cereal milk. Interesting flavor, kept sipping on it. The Tiramisu Latte was great! Exactly what it sounds with coffee flavor too. I would recommend this one if you like Tiramisu. Doesn't stand out, but solid if you find a drink here you enjoy!

Good variety of pastries and super cute coffee shop. Plenty of seats indoor and out to enjoy a quiet area. Parking can be a challenge but not too bad. Merchandise and coffee mugs were super cute. Clean and simple. Service was excellent Love the self served water station. Would definitely come back and try the coffee next time.

A very cute cafe with delicious drinks and croissants! They also have wine and beer which is unique! The barista is very friendly. Seems like the type of place with regulars that come in for a solid cup of joe. They don't have wifi here. Came here in the morning to grab a quick bite and some caffeine. I got the london fog and my husband got a latte with cardamom in it. He said the latte reminded him of holiday ham upon first sip but then afterwards he really enjoyed it hahaha.... We got this croissant pastry with an orange syrup on it and it was so GOOD! omg i could have eaten more than one. Overall, a cute little cafe spot to stop at if you're nearby!

Good selection of beans and equipment. Baristas are pleasant and friendly. Good selection of drinks, with house made specialties like the tiramisu latte. I got the nitro cold brew with the tiramisu cream top, cream was delicious, nitro was slightly sour. Overall, love this space and the ability to just sit and chill for a bit.

This is a really cute little spot! Very modern and clean and has a small but unique menu. I really liked my Sound & Fog Tea Latte and my partner had a seasonal Brown Sugar and Nutmeg Latte. The barista was friendly and helpful and did some nice latte art on top too. Their space is small, but comfy. They do seem to have a patio area that's dog friendly outside weather permitting but dogs are not allowed inside unless they're a service animal.

I've been to sound & fog a few times since moving here and I think their espresso is great. This time I went I was very disappointed which the drinks I ordered. We ordered a 16oz latte and a 16oz matcha lemonade. The matcha lemonade was nice and refreshing, but the matcha was practically nonexistent. The latte was basically just milk. We watched the barista making the latte and I thought a 16oz latte normally comes with two shots of espresso, but the barista only added one. So our drinks were not good, but the beans we got were pretty good!

No WiFi at a coffee shop? I literally went here to study haha. Missed that part in the reviews. This place is decorated really well, there is a big empty lot Nextdoor, kinda wish they expanded and made a little patio out there, oh, and offer WiFi haha. They sell typical coffee shop merch plus bottled wine.

I love this coffee shop. On my Seattle trip this coffee shop was by far my favorite because of my drink and the ambiance. I told the barista that I would like extra syrup in my latte and while he was making it, he showed me how much syrup he's putting in there and asked if it was enough :) the drink was amazing we almost came back the second day, but wanted to try other coffee shops in west Seattle There's ample lighting in there as well with cute chairs and tables outside

Outside- they're on the bottom corner

Really impressed by this place, even came back for a second coffee after enjoying the first one while wandering the local market. Parking sucks, but I won't hold it against them as it's worth the fight/walk. Great ambiance, great light, and nice folks working there

There was some renovation going on, so there weren't any seats available for dine-in. However, there was a bench inside where we sat to enjoy our coffee, which worked out since I love having coffee at cafes, especially in their cute mugs. The quality of the coffee was amazing easily one of the best I've had in Seattle. I also appreciated their efficient setup: the barista takes your order and makes it at the same time. You might have to wait in line a bit longer, but you get your coffee right away instead of waiting for your name to be called later. Just be prepared for a line, but it's totally worth it!

I'd love to come back someday and spend more time there, savoring their coffee to the fullest.

I'm updated my review to reflect a recent takeout dining experience…read more A couple weeks ago, we ordered 2 salads, and 2 sandwiches. We ordered pickup. Upon arrival to our house, the order was incorrect, whoopsie! We called back and the waiter who answered mentioned that we had accidentally taken a staff meal home. None of our to-go boxes were labeled. How could anyone know? This is a rookie mistake. It's been a while since this Goblin worked in food, but that's a non-negotiable. Especially given a place that prides itself on catering to restricted diets and lifestyles. This is exactly how you let a pumpkin seed slide into a seed allergy order. Instead of letting us keep the meal, she asked us to bring it back to the restaurant. We were happy to do so. Everyone deserves to eat. Should we have kept it for ourselves? We bring the food back, and the waiter explains that there was a mixup, and apologized. They handed us another to-go box (which wasn't labeled) and tried to end the conversation. "Have a good night!" We had to then explain to this waiter that our wives demanded something in return for the error, which was true. The waiter/bartender had a puzzled look on their face. Customer? Demanding I make something right? In my workplace?! A direct statement void of passivity about the quality of my service? With conditions? The audacity! We live in a world where we, the customer, bring back your incorrect order for you, waste our time, and we just get a, "thanks, have a good night!" This goblin had to claw his way up the ranks pillaging for gold which doesn't come easy. Everyone knows food cost in Seattle went up ~%46 since 2019. Wages haven't. We told the waiter our wives wanted a slice of cake. The waiter was shook by our audacity, and moved towards the fridge behind the bar to consult with two chefs who were shutting it down. We were arriving near/at close on a Monday. The other two chefs body language exuded "just give them the rest of the cake". There was a couple moments of pause and hushed conversation. The waiter pulled out a large serving plate with only a small chunk of Chocolate Mousse Cake left. Instead of putting that into a box, apologizing, and fixing the problem. They conferred about the legitimacy of our claim with the chefs. Hesitantly, they cut the cake into a small slice, put it in a box (which wasn't labeled) and handed it to us. What's hilarious is that they would leave such a small piece going into the next day of prep. Why not just 86 it right there? Why was it so hard for this person to acknowledge they made a mistake, and do something kind for us in return? The chefs clearly understood these fundamental building blocks of customer service, had they not been there in the front of house, I'm sure the waiter would've made an excuse to not remedy the situation. From all of my years in food service, if something is wrong, you make it right, end of story. By owning the error, you keep your integrity. Even a small gesture like 10% off one item, between the hours of 7:35pm- 7:45pm every third Monday, however inconsequential and trivial, makes people feel like you've made things right. These basics need to be addressed with FOH staff. With food cost nearing the price of rent each month in Seattle, customers should feel empowered to speak their mind respectfully. My only reason for going into excruciating detail is the hope that this can be a teaching moment, and more people can eradicate passivity. Passivity is a threat to community, culture, service, and so many other integral parts of our society. It's OK to disagree in public. It's OK to check someone. It's OK to tell your server "No, honestly, it wasn't that good, here's why..". When we deny the truth about our experiences for fear of disrupting the status quo, we withhold an essential part of building stronger, more diverse and resilient communities. "Goblin D, don't you think this is a bit too deep for a food review?" No, and if you've made it this far, the two stars are for the two chefs who made sure we got our cake.
