Although the grounds are well mowed the bathroom facility has bowing walls and peeling paint. When you go to a campground with no sewer hook up your expectation of the shower facilities is much higher. If that was the only problem here it wouldn't be so bad. The owner is nowhere to be found except on his motorcycle or his side-by-side. His dog is never tied up and is highly aggressive and came after my dog who was on a leash three separate times. I'm not talking about just barking but he tried to bite my dog numerous times. I have a lab puppy. I saw the dog attack numerous other dogs at the campgrounds. When we approach the owner he said the dog has a bark collar so he shouldn't be doing that. Just so the owner knows a bark collar does not keep a dog from biting other dogs. The other complaint that I think is a major one is the rules are not enforced at this campground. The partying went on till two or 3 o'clock in the morning with stereos blasting and drunks flying through the campgrounds on golf carts and side-by-side's. The police showed up because of a fight at 2 o'clock in the morning. The ambulance showed up. This site has serious serious safety issues On the bright side it does have a nice little beach it does have a dock system and the restaurant has amazing food with bean hole beans and a fish fry. If I only came for the food and the beach I would've been a very happy camper. But regrettably I will not camp here again. If you have small children, I would not recommend this campground unless you stay in a cabin away from the debauchery . It's reallllly bad.

He was hustling and taking care of several tables and he was on his game. Food was typical "county" fare but it was good. The next time we visited was a disaster and of course that was the night we chose to bring guests. Apparently they had no serving staff so they sent over someone with zero waitstaff experience to try and take our order. This was after us sitting around for at least 30 minutes with no service. She was very kind but knew nothing about anything. I.e. we asked what soup they had and she said she had no idea. Then said "would you like me to ask?" I mean ... yeah it would be nice if you asked anyways it just went downhill from there. We were forced to repeat our order multiple times to multiple different people. Orders were not right when they did finally come out. Two people ordered fried haddock and both ended up with grilled haddock. The grilled haddock was overcooked, rubbery and had ZERO flavor. Cole slaw was bizarre and had a funny taste to it. Mashed potatoes had zero seasoning and no gravy. Gnats were everywhere. Overall we were there for like 2 hours because everything took so long. It was just a disaster. View is nice but it's not nice enough to compensate for everything else.

Marcel and Wendi run a tight ship and I always appreciate a campground with rules that are followed. Everything was clean and well maintained except for available laundry service. Their dryer was not working during our stay but the Laundro-mat in Millinocket was great. Quiet hours were quiet. Their RV tank pumper service was very helpful. Marcel was very helpful with local services. We shredded our Jeep tire on the Katahdin Ironworks Road and Marcel helped us get it replaced. I highly recommend this campground.

Whether you like it quiet or like a like liveliness they have it here!! We have our favorite sites, but have never had a bad one. The arcade is great for the kids and store is priced reasonably. Showers and bathrooms are never dirty. The pool is always clean and campers are friendly and a joy to be around. Many times we have extended our visit because we don't want to leave. This is a great place for the whole family!!

We wanted to come and stay for old home week so i called to see if they had any sites left over a month ago and was told they were booked but would do some checking and put me on a cancellation list.... I was told if something came up within the next few days she would call me.... I waited for a couple weeks and heard nothing.... I knew the chances of getting a place to stay were getting slimmer and slimmer so I found an available spot at the Howard Johnson for Friday and Saturday and went ahead and booked it.... Mark and I both worked today so we didn't get away from Sussex until around 3pm or so and got up here around 5 or so..... We checked in and went to pick up supper... while we were getting supper I got a couple calls from the camp ground.... I answered the phone and was asked if we were coming to the camp ground or not? I was thrown a little off and said "no... nobody called me back so we are at the Howard Johnson" I was then told they had a reservation for me and had turned other people away.... and then she (Lisa) told me if I was to try and reserve again I would have to pay up front..... I was like really???? Pretty hard to keep a reservation when you don't know you have one..... don't worry Lisa I won't be trying to reserve again....

I was here for a family gathering to celebrate my sister's 50 th birthday. Our group stayed at a…read morecouple of cabins which were very nice and convenient. We went two days in a row. The first day was the full river trip and the second day was the ultimate on the Kennebec River. Both days were excellent!! It was my and my 16 year old year's first time white water rafting. We absolutely loved it!! We had a big group, 15 people the first day, 19 the second with a large range of ages 6-65 years and mixed of experienced and non experienced. We had the same guides both days-Jackie and Steve. Not only were they great guides but they are beautiful people! Everyone in our group had a wonderful time and we spent all night reminiscing.
