I am being generous..this was our first stay and will not be returning. The bathrooms were disgusting and I mean urine and feces that were there for two days. Bloody band aids in the pool and hair balls. We stepped away from the pool. Our site also had mold all around the site. The site was raked but because this site had rain water everywhere, I think it is wet. We were screamed at by an owner while in the arcade that it was closing time. We have been coming here since I was about 9 years old and now my kids are enjoying it as much as I used to. It's friendly, fun and so relaxing. Whether you like it quiet or like a like liveliness they have it here!! We have our favorite sites, but have never had a bad one. The arcade is great for the kids and store is priced reasonably. Showers and bathrooms are never dirty. The pool is always clean and campers are friendly and a joy to be around. Many times we have extended our visit because we don't want to leave. Katahdin Shadows Campground - Campgrounds Near Me - Medway, Maine

This place is incredible: beautiful scenery, fresh air, and awesome showers. We came here after being at a festival for a couple days. It was raining really hard, and we just decided to throw the towel in for the night, and pull over. The cabins are great - 4 beds (2 bunks), small kitchen, kitchen table w/ 4 chairs. Very rustic, but very cozy - what do you expect - it's Maine. But you got to love it. Prices per cabin are very, very reasonable. read more

Never coming back as well. Ownership is very unprofessional and drinks right along with the seasonal campers. Not a way to maintain a professional business in a small community. News travels... RV sites are right on top of each other, you are under a microscope by staffing for their rules and regulations. Make sure you register your guests even if you didn't invite them! They nickel and dime everything. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups either. They only accommodate to seasonal Guests so I'd search for another campground. All businesses have rules and regulations, but it is up to the owner to be fair and hold everyone accountable to those rules and regulations. But we all understand they are state rules put in place and we didn't pick them, however as a man in the public eye and local business owner you need to maintain a level of professionalism. You should be polite when asking Guests to abide by the rules not a jerk. If at that point those Guests don't abide then perhaps an alternative route can be taken with appropriate action. Don't just walk up to someone's site when the Guest is back to you and demand to know how you are going to get your $4 for the visitors that came to visit for an hour. There were many others who came for the night and used your facilities and you never charged them. So you might be losing out on more like 600 - 800 dollars in business from a group that had been camping for five years as a tradition. And don't say you don't care when you nickel and dime for everything little thing. Perhaps on luau weekend take one of your employees or undercover seasonal campers as your ticket gate and get all your money you need. Our trip was ruined. We, as a group had already we aren't coming back prior to these incidents. It just was icing to the cake. So thanks for your non-hospitality and we will take our business to another place. Excellent facilities, great staff and nice setting. We are spending 8 weeks here and have been very pleased. Internet stability has some issues in rain etc but that is about the only issue. Clean. Well groomed. Kept up daily. Great place and tons of wild rabbits... Everywhere!! read more

Never going back. They put us in the middle of a giant dirt parking lot! Literally a giant dirt parking lot. People were sipping beer just staring at us pull in and back into our crappy campsite. I asked if we could be moved to the CORNER of the dirt lot so we could at least have a TREE there. The staff was riding around on little karts kicking up the dirt. Imagine about 30 people staring at you all day while you set up in a giant field of dirt. God that place sucked. read more

I have been a loyal Katahdin Shadows camper for many years. Having stayed at least one weekend, every year, for the past 12 years. I have stayed in their camper sites, tent sites and cabins and attended many of their theme weekends. In the past, I have always recommended this campground. That is about to change. My family will not be going back to this campground, after several incidents and theme weekends that have gotten out of hand. I will no longer be recommending Katahdin Shadows and I will be sure to let anyone who asks, know that their family themed weekends are no longer that. It was decided before our last trip there, that it would be our final stay at Katahdin Shadows and during the Aloha Weekend festivities it became very clear that we were making the right decision. This campground is packed so full, you can hardly maneuver around. The play areas for children are overcrowded and the smaller children get lost in the shuffle of the big kids taking over the pool and playground. For contests during their theme weekends and for adhering to the rules, seasonal campers receive special treatment. For the poolside contests, where the area is full of families with young children, seasonal campers paraded around inappropriately in hopes of winning awards. My 8 year old daughter even asked to leave because she was so uncomfortable with the behavior of these adults. This campground is too busy and short on staff. The woman in the office is very helpful and friendly but she is overworked. To check in or do anything in the office, will take you at least a half hour or more. The owner is unprofessional in how he handles situations that arise. We are a large group of family and friends and we are respectful and understanding of the rules of the campground but it is poor management when their rules apply to some and not others. I know they won't care about the loss of our reservations of 10 sites and 3 cabins, because they will pack someone else in our place. If you are looking to get away for a nice camping weekend and relax, this is not the place for it. read more
