Super cute pet store specializing in pretty much anything and everything a pup would need. I stopped in to get a birthday treat and presents for my Sasha. They have insanely cute homemade treats, such as cupcakes (2 different sizes) and cookies. I felt the homemade treats were very reasonable - the small cupcakes were $0.75 and the large was $2.00. They have a selection of durable toys (not those cheap, easy to tear apart toys from big name retailers), collars/leashes, dog costumes for Halloween, outfits, treats and food. The owner has done an amazing job selecting healthy dog treats and food, I was impressed. They offer food brands like Fromm's, Taste of the Wild, and Natural Balance. Looking at prices, I again felt everything was reasonably priced especially for a locally owned shop. I will definitely be shopping here again and highly recommend :D I can't wait for my pup to open her birthday presents!! ;) read more

I love this shop! After stuffing my face full of cupcakes at Grace and Shelly's down the street, I felt it unfair not to let Porkchop have a little treat too. We walked to the Fox Bay theater and it wasn't there anymore! Luckily, a quick yelp search showed me that it just moved one block down. Pets are obviously welcome, and Chops got to have a sniff-fest with the golden that was hanging out behind the counter. They have various high-quality toys and leashes/collars. They also have a few different kinds of organic foods - both cans and bags. They also have a "bakery" section with different biscuits and treats. Some of the treats are at paw level, so Chops even picked some out for herself. I was happily floored when I saw they make PUPcakes! It was only 75 cents for a small one, and Porkchop got to have a treat alongside me that wouldn't hurt her tummy - just a peanut butter base and yogurt based frosting. When I went to check out after having sniffed around for a while, the woman behind the counter told me that the computer was down. I wasn't in a rush, so we hung out for a little bit waiting for it to boot back up. When it became apparent this wouldn't be a quick little fix, she very reasonably offered to have me call in my credit card number and leave right then with my items. I was so thankful for her solution, as was my drooly dog! I probably wouldn't drive over here just to buy a bag of food, but I would definitely go out of my way to give my pooch a little treat :) read more

This place is just simply one of the coolest Dog Stores out there. A family operation around for the last couple of years in Whitefish Bay. When my beagle Charlie and I are on a walk and they are closed he will sit down in front of the door and look at me to tell them to come back and open it! Seriously they have top of the line Dog foods and the real diference is the inormation they will help you with. Great recommendations got me to try a new diet for Charlie. They have fresh baked dog treats in a bakery style case and killer frozen dog treats (Charlie likes the peanut butter ones) Also have cool botique dog and dog related stuff. They also sell catfood. They have a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog that hangs out Cooper. Get on their mailing list and and your dog will begin to recieve emails from Cooper (whose title is Director of Pet Relations) Great for higher quality Dog treats, chews and food. Also by my Beagle Charlie as one of his all time favorite destinations for walks!! read more

What a great store! Hounds carries dog and cat food, toys, treats, accessories. They have a great selection of high quality goods. I recently purchased a new Ruffwear harness for my dog, he kept escaping out of the old one. Fits wonderfully. We also purchased a light that clips on (safety light, not sure what they are called). Works great - cars give us plenty of room at the intersections. They carry Fromm brand foods as well. Hounds hosts many community events and has an inviting atmosphere. Recently Daivd, our dog, got to participate in bobbing for hot dogs which is now his new favorite sport. In the fall they lead a Halloween Pet Parade around the Great Pumpkin Festival. Great place to stop in off Silver Spring. Highly Recommend. read more

Recently Hounds Around Town hosted "Dog Day Afternoon" as part of the Farmers Market. Being from Bay View, my go-to natural pet store is Natural Pet. I often refer the While You Were Out Pet Sitting clients there; however, we do have a lot of clients in the Shorewood/Whitefishbay/Fox Point area. I was so happy to see a similar selection at Hounds Around Town and a similar philosophy. I feel much better knowing that I can refer a great business to clients in the area. Selection is wide, store is clean, staff is knowledgeable! Definite place to keep in mind for your pets. read more

Friendly, family-owned pet store that always has my Magy's dog food in stock. Fun toys, snacks, and locally produced foods too. I love that they have doggy parties (complete with decorations snacks for both humans and dogs) for holidays, Cooper's birthday, etc... There's crazy construction right now on their street, but there's loads of parking just behind the building. read more

I went into Hounds Around Town looking for a Christmas gift for my dog. I needed something really indestructible. The person working there could not give any recommendations. I would have expected a specialty pet store could make recommendations. I purchased a Jolly Ball because I have had them before. The toy fell apart within 5 minutes. The string untied and came out of the ball. We returned the toy but we were told they had to contact Jolly Ball. Three weeks later we have not received a new toy or a refund. We also do not have the ball without the string. Not much for standing behind what they sell or customer service. I am very disappointed and will go back to ordering on-line. read more
