Everything in here is legit and you will be SO glad you found this little gold nugget. Skip any other art supply store-- this is where the Pros go. ;) The service was very easy going and helpful if I had any questions. Definitely a vibe for the Art crowd in this little store. It's a little store with MANY art supplies and niche tools, from pens, brushes to paints and canvases. A mini artist's paradise! The cost and value of all the tools and supplies in this store are fairly priced and even better for those who are students and teachers (discounts for them). I would recommend this spot to those who are serious artists and newbies looking to find the right art gear without guessing. Tip: Parking is street and neighborhood or the garage which is $3 for an hour. If you eat at Handels ice cream or one of the places nearby they comp your parking ticket which is cool too. Make a day out of it!

Each year, Blue Rooster offers a Summer Anniversary Sale in July and they recently celebrated their 23rd year. [Parking]: Metered parking only. Our party ended up parking on Maubert Ave and walking here. [Supplies]: Almost anything Blick carries, Blue Rooster carries as well despite having a smaller retail space. The supply shop also carries premium handmade watercolor brands such as Stoneground and watercolor supplies occupy about 25% of the store, but they did run out of some specific colors for certain watercolor brands like Stoneground. They also carry Copic markers, Lyra Aqua Brush Duo markers, LePen markers, POSCA markers, Pilot pens, blank canvases, toolboxes, etc. Blue Rooster Art Supplies also carries more specialized brands of paper here. [Conclusion]: This flagship store has a smaller space and is less convenient to park than the Pasadena location and the Pasadena location also has a shop cat. With that being said, this is still a solid neighborhood art supply shop in Los Feliz.

While the shop is small, they stock all of the essential art supplies (brands like STABILO, POSCA, and DecoColor) so customers can be more intentional with what they want to buy. The store requires ID checks for paint marker purchases. In addition, the shop also carries a large selection of Asian art materials for calligraphy (e.g., square paper, calligraphy brushes, calligraphy books, ink stones, black sumi ink, brush hangers, etc). Apparently students from USC who take calligraphy courses come here to purchase their supplies. Overall this is a decent shop for anyone looking to restock art supplies or buy calligraphy materials. P.S. - There is metered street parking in front of the store, but there are also few free designated parking spots behind the shop. Walk in here and you can smell the ambition, acrylic, and caffeine. It's like stepping into a time capsule where brushes still matter, ink still stains, and creativity doesn't come with a subscription fee. The value here and the prices were super reasonable. I came here with my draftsman, a guy who still draws by hand -- a dying breed in a world that runs on Ctrl+Z. Watching him walk these aisles was like watching a monk in a cathedral. Every shelf, every pen, every tube of paint is curated chaos. And the best part? The staff actually care. They know the difference between gouache and watercolor -- and they don't judge you for mispronouncing it. Friendly service, clean restrooms (a small miracle in Los Angeles), and a selection so deep it could inspire Picasso's ghost to start over. From sketchbooks to sculpting tools, markers to mat cutters, they've got everything you need to make something real -- or at least look like you tried. Blick's been around since 1911, and this Beverly Blvd location has kept L.A.'s art scene supplied through every phase -- from punk flyers to NFT hangovers. It's an institution, and it deserves to stay that way. Blick Art Materials is a love letter to real art in a copy-paste world. The service is friendly, the aisles are inspiring, and the supplies are top-notch. If you make anything with your hands, your heart, or even just a stubborn sense of nostalgia -- support this place. Because when shops like this vanish, so does a little bit of the soul of Los Angeles. Support this place -- or someday the only "art supplies" left will be ring lights. Blick is where real artists shop while influencers pretend to paint.

Luckily, when I went the store wasn't busy and walk-ins are welcome. With that, we were able to decorate. Parking situation is a bit tough depending on when you go. There is street parking if you get lucky. Just circle around a bit if you have trouble. You do not need reservations too since walk-ins are welcome. My boyfriend and I decided to decorate top loaders for our Pokemon cards and honestly, when I compare this place to other deco places, I will say other ones are better. The reason being they offer unlimited colors and charms you can put on your art pieces. Here, they limit you to either one or two creams (the colors of "icing") and charms too depending on what you purchase. Every extra charm purchase is $0.50. With that, this deco place was so fun but I would prefer them not making their stuff limited in quantity to creams and charms. Staff was nice too and the prices were okay. Like I said, if it was unlimited, it would be worth it but since it's not, to me at least it wasn't worth it.

Having taken another purchase to a frame shop in Mid-City that was recommended by the shop. I ended up paying an arm and a leg, for that job, so for my next poster, I decided to give Baller Art Ware a shot given it's right down the street from our house. I took it in, and the very friendly person at the front helped me pick a frame material, walked me through the process, and explained that they are very backed up, and it would take about 8 weeks to complete the job. They quoted me a very reasonable price, and I was in no hurry so I had them proceed. The framer called me a couple days later, concerned with some of the details of the job. He probably could've been a little friendlier on the phone, I've seen some reviews to that effect, but at the end of the day i appreciated that he just really wanted to do a good job, and do right by the vintage poster. We agreed on a path forward and that was it. At the end of the day, they set expectations for how long it would take, and they met their estimate, did a beautiful job with the frame, and charged a very fair price for the job.
