Apparently students from USC who take calligraphy courses come here to purchase their supplies. Overall this is a decent shop for anyone looking to restock art supplies or buy calligraphy materials. I finally admitted to myself that I probably won't teach myself with just my books anytime soon, so I recently scheduled a lesson with the owner, Kat. She charges $40 for an hour, which I found very reasonable for her expertise. She helped me select materials, explaining what works best for beginners. There is street parking if you get lucky. Just circle around a bit if you have trouble. You do not need reservations too since walk-ins are welcome. My boyfriend and I decided to decorate top loaders for our Pokemon cards and honestly, when I compare this place to other deco places, I will say other ones are better. The reason being they offer unlimited colors and charms you can put on your art pieces. Here, they limit you to either one or two creams (the colors of "icing") and charms too depending on what you purchase. Every extra charm purchase is $0.50. With that, this deco place was so fun but I would prefer them not making their stuff limited in quantity to creams and charms. Staff was nice too and the prices were okay. Like I said, if it was unlimited, it would be worth it but since it's not, to me at least it wasn't worth it.

However when I got there she took one look and said- "oh this is easy" and got the fella in the back to quickly turn the order around in 5 minutes! I was so surprised and pleased. Beautiful clean space with a TON of glaze options and clay bodies. Lots of wheels and hand building space and love that it is 24/7, so you can work late at night if that is when you are feeling creative. Also in my opinion the kiln turnaround time is pretty quick. It is always exciting looking through the shelves and finding your pieces. I recommend starting out with a class or two so you can experience everything before committing to membership. Lots of really great teachers too.
