I decided to get a membership. I came to just make a few cups but over the months being at the studio I met a bunch of people and realized there is such great community. I love how the studio lets you make what ever you want not limiting your creativity. I think that if you are new to ceramic, think you can just make pieces in less than a week. You will be disappointed. Ceramics takes time and patience. This studio has a 24hr membership that makes it easy to come on your own time.

Instructor was great but I wish that he would let us do a little at a time instead of watching the whole demo then we start. Because by the end of the demo, we forgot all the steps and he had to re-explain it. That part took lot of time but we did had a great time! Time flew by when making pottery. When we were done, we get to pick which glaze color we wanted. The glaze didn't turn out to the color we wanted, but it's okay. Took about 3-4 weeks for the glaze to be ready for pick up. Beautiful clean space with a TON of glaze options and clay bodies. Lots of wheels and hand building space and love that it is 24/7, so you can work late at night if that is when you are feeling creative. Also in my opinion the kiln turnaround time is pretty quick. It is always exciting looking through the shelves and finding your pieces. I recommend starting out with a class or two so you can experience everything before committing to membership. Lots of really great teachers too.

Had an amazingggg time here! I joined an online women's group for activities and get togethers and…read moreone of them organized for us to do a class here. Had taken ceramics in college for a whole semester but really could not remember a single thing...so was super excited for this. We got Joy as our teacher for a single session of no frills, basic pottery class and she was great. She was patient and pretty friendly to all of us beginners. Class was super organized. You grab your aprons, your wheel, your slab of clay and watch her demo. You go step by step because some steps will cause you to "lose it all" lol. She explained that their typical classes would allow you to see your clay through from a blob all the way to the firing process which takes several sessions of classes (gotta wait for things to dry etc). There is also a little board with all the firing colors and oxidization/reduction differences which is cool to see it nearly organized. I remember in school there were just huge vats of color hanging around for us to visualize. Afterwards we all helped clean up and labeled our pottery. Entire session was about 2-3 hours. Our bowls will likely be finished in a month after they dip them and fire them up for us. Would totally come back for more classes if they weren't so far... We also had some snacks and drinks some people had brought along but typically I don't think there would be much eating involved...hands are dirty. Theres also a parking lot so parking is handled.

ARTime BARRO is part pottery studio, part community space, and is a relaxing, chill place where you can unleash the creativity you thought was dead, where your artistic spirit gets to come out to play, if only for just a little bit of time in this crazy world. On a recent weekend, I had the opportunity to take the One-Time Class, which is a one-hour course designed for complete beginners. You get to make two pieces, one by hand at the table and one on the pottery wheel. The class size was small (just 5 people) and we got great 1:1 instruction and guidance from our knowledgeable instructor Max. I've always wanted to try the wheel and was surprised how hard it was to use it but it was such a great experience that I think everyone should try at least once. After you sculpt your pieces, you are invited to come back to hand paint (glaze) your work at no additional cost. You can also have them do a one-color glaze for you, but after I saw all the multi-colored pieces of other folks previous to me, it was no contest to decide that I wanted to color my pieces myself. You have up to 3 months to come back to glaze so it's very doable in anyone's busy LA (corporate) lifestyle. Pricing was very reasonable for such a cool bespoke experience. There are a lot of pottery painting studios (e.g. Color Me Mine) but this is awesome bc you get to make the pottery AND color it later! I've already recommended this place to countless people!

What really elevated the experience, though, was everything beyond the crafting itself. The studio is beautiful and spotless, the staff were attentive and genuinely kind, and it's clear a lot of care went into the little details: a ceramic magnet to paint while our pieces cured, eclectic snacks to munch on, and a keepsake printed photo to take home. The whole space felt warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. It's rare to find a place that hits just right in both the craft and the experience around it. She is great to work with and has a way of demonstrating and explaining techniques that make pottery really accessible for first timers.
