This will always be a late night staple in my book. They have excellent service and friendly staff and the Asian food on their menu is top-notch for a late night bar food. I almost feel bad that I havent been to 500 Club sooner. I say that as I've lived in Clovis for 20 years and am always in Old Town, have been told by my dad how good this place is, but didn't thinkI would get a good meal at this bar/former casino/dinner establishment. I will admit, I was so wrong about 500 Club! My guy and I went a few weeks ago as we couldn't decide where to go for dinner and love patronizing local businesses in Old Town. Walked into the main entrance (the bar) around 7pm on a Saturday night. It was packed. Walked to the back and was promptly greeted and asked if we would like a table. Was escorted to an equally full dining room. Our waitress greeted us promptly, answered questions and took our orders. We both ordered the chicken kebab plate and it was delicious! The chicken was very moist and flavorful .... not dry at all! The pilaf was not bland or salty, but flavorful as was the veggies. The meal also came with soup or salad, I chose salad as my dad has raved about their homemade roqueford ... similar to blue cheese, but mild in flavor. Everything was great! My guy returned a few days later and had the same thing and tried their pork pozole soup . He loved it, said it was super tasty and full of pork. We stayed away during rodeo week, but returned last night. I had the chicken kebab salad, he ordered the chicken kebab and had the stuffed pepper soup. Another great tasting homemade soup. I got the 6oz NY steak. Honestly Sizzler's had better steak. It was chewy and bland. Stick with the steak houses. I got a baked potato, it was fine. I also got the soup. We are in town, from Iowa, as part of our trip across California and decided that this would be a great place for dinner. I'm so glad we stopped. The atmosphere, service and food were fantastic. I found myself in downtown Clovis at lunchtime the other day, so I parked my car at the first available spot and started strolling around. I had seen the 500 Club building for years and years, but never stopped in to the Bar and Grill before. It's pretty much what you would expect... Definitely an old-school vibe, folks sitting at the bar, having a mid day refreshment or lunch, a couple of tables. I opted for the small back room, which has the added benefit of being right by the kitchen, where the action is. It was about 1 o'clock, but they weren't super busy. It took the staff a little while to sort out the wiping down the table, getting water and menu, etc. I heard one of the servers mentioned something about a pastrami burger, and that definitely caught my attention. I am a big fan of the pastrami burgers at the Colorado Grill, so I thought I would see what this place had going. I treated myself to a lunchtime Modelo on draft, and pretty soon, the pastrami burger showed up. Looked good... Fresh tomato, lettuce, onion, the pastrami was a little tough, but still good. The burger itself was cooked a little more than I had asked for, but not objectionable. Sidenote: I wish, all restaurants would season their hamburger patties at some point along the way! Anyway, I digress... I enjoyed the burger very much, fries were good, well, seasoned, super hot. Server was very nice, very attentive. This is definitely a 3-4 napkin burger, by the way! I could tell that there were a lot of regulars at the spot, which I think is a really good sign. Would definitely go back next time I'm in the area. Order off the specials board! It's always amazing tonight we had the porterhouse and lamb chops. Great quality food and the chef cares about what he cooks. 500 Club Pho is the best I've ever ate in my life. I'm confident that I've ate at almost every Pho restaurant in the Fresno/Clovis area and never tasted such a delicious pho bowl. My wife is Vietnamese and we enjoy eating at Pho restaurants within our community. The noodles are smaller portion compared to other restaurants, but the quality and richness of the broth and the insane amount of meats and vegetables is a good trade off. This is only my 2nd time here. The first time was nearly 20 years ago and I vowed never to return after that time, but friends were raving about it so I decided to give it a second chance. We arrived around 6:25pm (I was texting my friend when we parked) and were seated right away. Still plenty of empty tables. We waited 20+ minutes for a server to even acknowledge us. Did not receive water or drinks for more than 40 minutes after we were seated. The waitress was a little rude, probably because I called her out for waiting on someone else who arrived 10-15 minutes after us. Ordered a salad and an appetizer. Did not get our food until 7:15. The food was ok but definitely not worth another trip. We finally paid for our meal and got the credit card back after 1 hour and 40 minutes. Again, for a salad and an appetizer. A friend and I came to Clovis for a performance. We asked our hotel for a good steakhouse. My goodness, we are grateful! Our New York steaks were cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. The veges were perfectly cooked. I wanted mashed potatoes, which wasn't on the menu, so I got a baked potato and made my own mash. My friend agrees that the steak was delicious. We have had several large party dining at the 500 club and the staff has always made it a great dining experience. It's not always fun for establishments to host large parties and the 500 club doesn't skip a beat. Our group is needy in the drink department especially on refills and you don't go thirsty here even with a large party. Food has always been good for what it is. Came here for lunch on a Thursday. Ate at the bar. I love the old brick/front/old ambiance. Good menu choices. Had like 6 beers on tap. Coors light for the win! About 10 stools at the bar. Bathrooms were super clean and well stocked. I had the pastrami sandwich with onion rings and hubby had the Louie G chicken sandwich with crinkle cut fries. What an awesome old school spot! This is the restaurant that's hard to find anymore. You can sense the history here. I'm sure families have been coming here thru multiple generations. Folks work here that still enjoy face to face human contact...such a rarity. Weslie is that rockstar waitress that barely exists anymore. She's dynamite with a capital D! Let's start with the negative things five of us order the 1795 hamburger steak you have a choice of soup salad french fries or onion rings doesn't leave you a lot of choices. I took the soup. The other people took the french fries and onion rings when they bring out the plate. It's just a hamburger in the middle of a huge plate. Nothing else. The meat was so tough. I needed the waitress to help me chew it the brown gravy with mushrooms and onions were so salty and the scrape it off the meat for 8 ounces of meat at $18 and it's ground round or whatever it's horrible. I'm not sure what's happened to the food there but it's gone downhill. There are a total of nine of us and we won't go back ever. There's no control in the kitchen the chefs don't care what they put out. There's no pride and what they prepare and it's obvious in the food. How bad can you ruin a tuna sandwich one of the Guest had and the other one had half a sandwich and a cup of soup I will say that the clam chowder is excellent some of the best in Fresno, but I don't go there for clam chowder. I went there because of the entrées and quite frankly the entrées are horrible. My wife and my sister-in-law were in the other part of the building waiting for our group, which is all men and she ordered the calamari fries. It was like eating a piece of rubber and it's obvious they don't make them in house they buy them frozen all in all horrible experience will never go back there again until they change at one time they had excellent excellent food, but not now. The service was absolutely excellent. There's a Russian girl working there. I gave her a 25% tip because of the way she took care of us at the table. It's too bad the food can't match read more

Tried this place after walking by a few times. Place is full of regulars.. which is always a good sign. Ordered the large New York steak without starch. The steamed vegetables were about raw, hardly steamed at all. The steak was tasty yet not good enough to return. The waiter was very nice. The dish served looked like it came from a diner. Went to the 500 Club recently and had one of my favorites, Shish Kebob Sandwich. It was great and would highly recommend it.
