Me, my wife, and my 4 kids (6 and under) took a 12 hour trip to Alabama from Hawaii for my sister's wedding. This is a huge airport... and we had to go to Gate E4 from Gate B4. I was like... at least we don't have to walk all the way to Gate E24. Boy was I wrong. This airport apparently counts backwards!!! Gate E4 was at the end... wth Houston. My experience at this airport was awful. Our gate for a connecting flight was changed to the furthest terminal away and then changed back just minutes before boarding. I was traveling with my 87 year old father and autistic son. We asked for a ride on one of those golf cart type things, and they said maybe and then yes and they'll be right back. When the cart came back, the driver would not let us on even though a friend of theirs hopped on. There is a transport cart every 50 yards in this place but there are no drivers and the drivers they have are rude. It's really sad, because the airport has a beautiful interior design. HAS had consistently been the worst when it comes to "improving ". From taking out the people mover's for expensive restaurants n hitting people with carts due to the smaller walking space...to now having fewer trains moving and blocking access with all the "improvements "? I feel like this place is a mess...traveling in and out of the midwest is easily done thru IAH, navigating thru IAH isnt always easy. I refuse to use any naming association with former president you know who...Intercontinental sounds better. Its a bit of a jumble here but the train makes for a quick transition from one concourse to the next and in some cases you can take walking short cuts. Watch out for the crazy people driving the golf carts...holy shit they are nuts! read more

How to review an airport you sprinted through??? Technically I had another layover here years ago. This airport is enormous with an air-rail system to whisk you between terminals. When we exited our plane were were minutes away from missing our connection and saw one of the airport staff members with a golf cart and asked if he could get us to where we needed to go- he said no, it was a different terminal and we needed to take the rail. What we didn't know is that the rail- or the escalator to the rail was a hike from our gate- the guy totally could have at least taken us there! SMH. So we were off running. United had texted my sister that they were holding the plane a few minutes for us and also that we were auto booked on the next flight (6 hours later) should we miss our connection. RUN! I honestly couldn't tell you how many up-down stairs we did. It was too many. We actually thought we had made the gate- there was a family with strollers blocking the doorway but as we approached we realized it was just the doorway to more stairs to lead down to more gates at ground level! WHAT!?!?! Run some more, trying to maneuver around the family with small children now stopped on the stairs- not escalator- but actual stairs. Trip hazard! Get down and 4 gates down is ours! We can see it. My sister is more fit than my chunky butt and sprinted- we made it! This experience was chaos- just pure chaos. My previous experience was a normal paced connection that left me time to eat and use the bathrooms. I don't know about other airports during these times- but it was very busy- a blur- but a busy blur! read more

There's a bit of confusion on yelp about the airports here in Houston. There is a review for Hobby, a review for the "system" which features reviews from both airports, and this one, which has the right address for IAH, which is the review I want to write (G.H.W. Bush Airport). The central area away from the spokes of the gates has a great selection of sensible shops, like Fossil, and delicious stops like Shipley Do-Nuts, which is a Houston institution. Ordered a strawberry jelly-filled donut, a chocolate glazed donut, and a jalapeno cheese kolache. That plus a pint of milk for about $6. It was clear the donuts were made for the 24 hour cycle of an airport, and as such, were not as fresh as I would have liked, but it was still delicious. read more

Literally my first ever yelp review, so wow. I truly pity anyone who is stuck here for more than an hour. Although a very clean airport, there is little to no seating.... where seating typically is to wait at your gate.... is another gate. This causes masses of people trying to form some kind of line in the walk ways amidst other lines for bathrooms and essentially creates walls the foot traffic has to push through. P.S I'd 90% of the seating that does exist is reserved for restaurants that boarding lines also have to wrap around. Real shame. read more

**Review for IAH** Um, WOW. As ridiculous as I feel writing a review for an airport, this one really tok the cake on convenience. I had a 4-hour sit here unexpectedly courtesy of a massive United screw-up, and was impressed by IAH. They have tons of iPads available to read the news, browse pinterest, or otherwise occupy yourself. Tons of bars and very pleasant aesthetics - everything looked clean, which was nice. Minor pet peeve: all chairs are BOLTED into the ground so you can't move them. It definitely agreed with the OCD-prone side of my brain, but in practicality I wanted to try to curl up and relax, and that wasn't really possible the way the vast majority of the seating was set up. Given the current weather situation, I'm sure I won't be in Houston for a while. Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected. However, when IAH is back in action, it'll be a pleasant place for a layover. read more

Most of restaurants are closed , the very few that are open generate long lines and accumulation of hungry people. The airport is substantially less busy but the lines to grab something to eat are longer than ever . How does this help with the social distancing? read more

0 Stars. This city, first of all, is trash. But worst of all, it's a complete pain in the ass to leave this place. NO public transportation that's worth a snear to get anywhere near either airport. No trusty cab service tradition. NOTHING to fall back on if you have an early morning flight and dont' have somebody that owes you an arm and a leg and will drive you to the airport. As far as airports go, this one is pretty darn good. Clean, easy to navigate, not over-filled with people (traveling on a Monday). Seems like it has one moving walkway per wing which is always nice if you are in a hurry. I landed in terminal A and walk to terminal E in about 5 minutes. read more

We used InstaPark to park at IAH over the Thanksgiving holiday. On our way out of the garage, we were told the InstaPark wasn't working and we'd have "to back up and get in line like everybody else" as if we had done something wrong! There were 3 cars behind us in the InstaPark lane. You'd think they could have managed to put up some orange cones to block the InstaPark lanes. Then when we get to the front of the line, they're manually searching for our credit card that we used to enter the parking garage to try to determine how long we had been parked. It's just an ok airport. The part I really do not enjoy are the golf car drivers- they are rude and honk or yell at you and almost run you over. I think they need to drive much slower and understand that pedestrians do have rights. A pretty standard airport. It was clean, well-lit and busy. The food court nearest the gates I visited was overly busy and the sit-down restaurant seemed overly pricey for what I was seeking, but I did eventually find sustenance for my connection here. The seats had average comfort for an American airport and while I recall having been to this airport before I had no clear memories of it prior to my most recent visit: it just didn't seem very memorable. Next time I connect here I'm going to do a better job of finding local Texas food for my stop, I think. read more

In and out of IAH several times since my last review. The airport is easy to get around whether you are traveling or just picking up or dropping off. And again, the fifth star may come if they ever finish the construction, or if they make Lee Rd. at least two lanes leaving the airport. read more

No stars. The Worst. Had a connecting flight here. Arrived 30 min early yet still missed the next flight only because the line up for custom and security was extremely disorganized; 2.5 hours wait. I have expressed that I have connecting flight in an hour then again in 30 min then again in 20 min, asking for help. NO BODY was willing to help. The attitude of all the airport staff I have encountered was not friendly and not helpful. I have been to Miami airport thinking this is that's a dumb airport. This is actually a pretty great airport. There are plenty of stores (coach!), and tons of food options. People are friendly enough and it's got a nice design so getting to and from gates is pretty painless. I have been avoiding this airport for a very, very long time. But alas, I ended up at this place during a 2 hour layover. Food choices were very good and variable. The airport itself seemed very functional, spacious,, and clean. Best part of all... no large groups of grumpy poeple with cancelled flights filling the air with crankiness. read more

Really good. It's a bit confusing and the carts always feel like they are going to run you over, but not too difficult.

Better than many airports I have been in. Good food available, walking distances no too bad, fast lane at TSA now, Global entry lane. All they really need is to do like Salt Lake City and add signs giving the flight status in the cell phone lot. read more

Had a layover at this airport on a flight from NYC to Omaha. USO office in Terminal D was cool. Staff was very friendly. Glad I brought by Veterans ID. On the way back was a different story. Rude flight staff the entire way and some shit kicker redneck lady, when we got off for the layover from Omaha on our way back to NYC, apparently thought I should have waited for her to go first, despite the fact she had a cast on and was moving super slo-mo. She sure didn't say anything to the abundance of white passengers on board who went before her. She started off with a snarky comment and then proceeded to make a few more comments on her way into the terminal. Being a combat marine, I really wanted to rip her face off but I am sane enough to know this is probably not the best course of action. So I called her out in front of everyone for being a trailer trash redneck POS who apparently doesn't feel non-white people should exit the plane before her. Thankfully, she was smart enough not to turn around and say anything and just kept on moving. I really hate to think all Texans are like this.... Despite the fact none of the other passengers bothered to say anything knowing that this inbred shit kicker was in the wrong. read more
