The United app, has a flaws that need to be repaired. Adding my KTN number should indeed apply to my boarding pass, when it does not. Which results in going through standard line, verses the Pre check line which is completely cleared of any line and wait time. Finding my way back to the customer service kiosk to add my KTN number just to return back to Pre check line was time wasted, but not as much as it would've been standing in the standard line. I pay extra for pre check to not remove my shoes, jackets, belts and whatever else is standard required. Please update the KTN number when guest entered it in on their profiles and allow them to be printed it out on their boarding pass. (Really didn't make sense because I even added my boarding pass to my wallet, so everything was via electronic. I had this problem on my departure and return flight. read more

It was about a 3.5 star experience rounded up to 4 stars. I say this because there are some things that United does better than other airlines. Although, I absolutely hate their forced automated baggage tag & drop process at IAH. It was a cluster trying to find a machine that was online to print out our luggage tags, and even in the priority section. Too many people trying to do the same thing in one area. But wait, that's not all. You still have to go through this Disney World queue to give your bag and luggage tags to the attendant. Fortunately, he was very friendly and efficient in moving the line along. The boarding process is very organized compared to others. I love that they actually use their 3 lanes (Pre-boarding, Group 1, and Group 2). What a novel idea! That's how you control the gate lice. Very well done! The flight itself was good. The domestic United First seats are comfortable even though they are somewhat dated. They still have in-flight entertainment built into the seat in front of you. I kind of like it that way. A meal wasn't offered on this flight. However, the snack and drink selections were good. They serve illy coffee which is definitely a step up. I forgot my ear buds, but thankfully they had some. It was a good flight! Would I fly United Airlines again? Yes, but only for direct flights from TPA. It was nice to finally use up all of our built up miles in exchange for 2 round-trip tickets. Excellent arrival and departure out of Phoenix. On our last day, Denver, which was our en route stop destination to Boston, got a major May snow storm causing an upheaval in aircraft scheduling. The staff here was quite gracious and accommodating, making good and sound recommendations to passengers as to the need to reschedule. All gate agents were quite knowledgeable about Denver. Although others were rescheduled, they recommended we do not, given our layover time and their knowledge of Denver capabilities. They were exactly on point and were got home at the scheduled time. Decided to splurge on my accumulated United mileage with upgraded seats for Doc and I to fly from San Diego to Houston to Mexico City. Although no meals were served complimentary like Hawaiian Air both flights offered you your choice of snacks: savory pretzel mix, a waffle cookie or a chocolate sea salt cookie. Both flights were under 4 hours which was great. Lucky for us Doc had bought both of us a Trader Joes protein pack of salami, almonds and Parmesan chips. You can also purchase a boxed snack on board. Impressive array of drinks to choose from, regular items that other airlines offer plus sparkling waters and cranberry cocktail drink. One flight you pick up an alcohol wipe and earphones. It had a cool interactive map so you knew where you were at a particular moment with remaining flight time til landing. The other flight had no screen at all. For airline review, I place a higher premium on the staff. Delays and gate changes are nebulous curiosities of how and why United has thus far (2 Years, 10 trans-Atlantic flights) been a much more pleasant experience in air travel and this I attribute to the staff. They have been friendly and don't seem to to hate their job or their company like some others ( American Airlines) I abandoned AA after 20 years as they have continued to strip away anything that was of value to the passengers, monitising every last thing they could including the AAdvantage program. My bank is my bank, I don't need to move my financial world to an airline for a crappy club experience and pissed off employees. Made it home safely! The flight from San Francisco to Houston was good, the boarding process was a little rocky but turned out smooth once computer systems were restored. We got a blanket, refreshing drinks and snacks. I had a middle seat which was a little cramped but I was happy to be heading home so it was not a problem. I used to recommend United and flying out of IAH...but after tonight... i will be switching airlines! This had been terrible! First the board us at 6:30 for a 7:20 flight on a huge 777, then 2min before we are supposed to be rollin out i get a text saying there is a 30min delay, finally several minutes later they come on and say they have to defuel which makes no sense... the plane was originally headed to Honolulu so if it can fly with a full tank... it can fly to Houston.... Then they come on again said another delay 10-15min cuz they they are waiting on the defuel truck... then again 10min later... fuel truck arrived 20-25min to removed fuel... so we left an hour late!! And set on the plane for an hour!!! Then we land at 11:17, im at baggage claim at 11:35.... Here we are 12:47 and our luggage is still not here. They came on 25min ago saying they located the rest of it and it was on the way... came over intercom 5min ago said it just arrived at cargo ( it took u 20min to get it to cargo? What can I say?? It's United. It is what it is...a hit or miss. I've had some terrible flights and some amazing flights. Being that this was my first flight in 5 years, I can't complain since I didn't know to expect...what has changed, etc. Historically, I have not been a fan of this airport as it is extremely confusing to navigate specifically when arriving. But this time I had a little more time to just walk around when arriving and when departing. They charge for e v e r y thing: -seat selection -extra leg room -checking in bags -gate checking in bags (esp if group 6 or no overhead compartment available) Did I miss anything?? Basic snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are free. Hopefully passengers won't be charged to walk the aisle or use the bathroom in the future!! I don't remember having to pay upwards of ~$20 for selecting my seat in the past...but since they bundle seat selection and 1 check-in bag, I opted for that ($40 each, total $80 one way). Since I booked a United "Basic Economy", I was only allowed a personal item and ended up in Group 6. Boo. Since it was a short flight, I didn't need the bells and whistles, just leg room and aisle seat. The flight attendants were either super friendly or just cordial. I had the bare minimum interaction with them. The United hub at both IAH is quite large with plenty of bathrooms and a Starbucks. There are also plenty of eating options and charging stations. Since I don't like airport food and always bring my own food, I have many seating options... Including the ones at the gates. The United app is just fantasic. While I tend to be a bit archaic at times...I loved being able to do almost anything flight-related through the app. This includes checking-in for the flight, adding a check-in bag, viewing the gate/carousel number, etc. They really made everything seamless with minimal interaction. There is also the option to share the trip tracking and boarding passes with others via messaging, WhatsApp, etc. This is especially useful for those picking up passengers. Would I take United again? Yes, of course as long as it's a direct domestic flight. read more

The seats are tight for leg room if you are tall. I would say the service overall was good. Both flights I had seat 29A. The flight attendants offered free headphones to watch movies/shows while during the flight. The snacks were good as well. I am extremely disappointed with United Airlines' handling of a hotel booking made through their 'package' service. When I checked out of the hotel, I received an official invoice for $1,600. However, United Airlines charged me $2,300 for the stay. When I contacted United to dispute the overcharge, their explanation was completely unacceptable: "United pays &1,600, but we charged you $2,300. NO breakdown, no justification for the $700 difference, and no attempt to resolve the issue. This feels like price gouging with zero transparency. If United is handling hundreds of dollars in undisclosed markups, customers deserve to be clearly informed BEFORE booking. Instead, I was charged significantly more than the hoteles actual invoice and given no real explanation afterward. I expected better from a major airline. Until this resolved. Update. Arrived at LAX. LA paramedics entered flight to help an elderly out first. The connecting flight was leaving from the International Terminal called Tom Bradley. It was chaotic. The United app directions to walk to Tom Brady minus security and without the bus didn't work. They closed off the section after you went down the escalator opposite 64A per app directions. Waited for a bus. Some waited for more than 1 hour for this bus. After it dropped us off, it was still a long walk to Tom Bradley International Terminal but we didn't have to clear security despite unclear information that we did from United app and some staff. Took a leap of faith with the lady managing the bus line who said we didn't have to clear security. What choice did I have? Take the bus and try to make it for my flight. Or miss it. This bus could be a one-off thing. I got a phone call from SQ to provide the updated gate number, check where I was as well as provide or confirm my direction with the bus. Even they thought I have to clear security again with the bus. Never walked so fast. Just made it for the flight and no security! Dripping sweat! I recommend SFO over LAX for transit as it's a lot more straightforward. read more

Why have I missed my connecting flight three times over the past five years with this airline? Why, because they always leave late from the gate. Today, my flight was 2 1/2 hours late leaving from San Juan Puerto Rico. We arrived at IAH 15 minutes after our connecting flight left. Then, they send us to this crappy cigarette smelling motel that was supposed to be the red lion in, but it was actually the comfort Inn. What a disgusting experience. I will never fly United Airlines ever ever ever ever ever again. Then they only give us a $15 voucher for food. What food at the airport cost $15?! I have a feeling that United Airlines was trying to make things right. This review is about my experience dropping off a friend at the Bush International Airport. I really wanted to scream at this misinformation on UA's website and the airport. Construction made everything so confusing, not just drop off but also pick up. This is why I avoid IAH airport like you know what. I helped him check in before arriving at the airport. I took pictures of the instructions as a driver. The problem is that I couldn't remember the complicated directions and there was no way to look at them while I was driving to find my way around. We ended up getting lost and circling around the terminal. Don't panic, I said. But I was panicking big time. My cell phone lost data signal and my GPS suddenly shut down. I had no idea where to turn but looking at the misinformed direction signs. There are 2 drop-off points on level 2 of Terminal C. First one on the driveway was for privileged passengers. Further down was for less fortuned passengers. Gee, that reminds me of Titanic movie. I didn't know when I was driving. So, I dropped him off at the first door. I guess he found his way around. I got a message an hour later, he already passed TSA and waiting at the gate. After I dropped him off, I went to find parking and walked to the observation deck to see the incoming and outgoing traffic on 2nd level. It looked like a giant fish tank. I don't think people below could see me. It was actually boring. So, I went home. read more

Customer service is better, boarding not too crazy. The planes could use more cleaning, I did find empty boxes on my seat, no one bothers to clean well, after COVID and all. I've been a business class passenger of United for 30+ years, and had a wide variety of services from excellent to awful. The one I'm writing now was the awful one. An 11 hour flight from Naples to Newark on April 26, UA965. The crew was as usual nice, attentive, and polite, but just one - Tiffany, who happened to serve my husband and I. Tiffany seemed to be irritated and short from the first minute of her service. "seemed" because we couldn't c her face, she was wearing a mask. She spent minimal time serving us, nor did she ever stop to see if we needed anything. . My husband did not get a menu and told her 3 times but she never brought one. Also he asked for water three time and she never brought it. Her service was quick and abrupt then she would just walk away. We finally complained, and the crew member informed us that Tiffany decided- we kept ordering too many drinks. I had one glass of a white wine; my husband had 3. He just wanted mineral water after that, which he could not get from Tiffany. my husband must stay hydrated to avoid a bowel impaction which could lead to an emergency surgery. Different crew members served us after we complained to the purser during the remainder of the flight; Tiffany appeared at the end of the flight being polite and nice After we had complained. read more

I don't know what it is with United, but they seem to play a game of musical chairs when it comes to assigning planes to a gate. I flew in from Chicago and the airline had changed my gate three times in the hours leading up to my departing flight. Fortunately they were all in the same terminal. We had to wait on the runway for a while after landing because our gate was occupied by another plane and it wasn't moving. On the way to Houston, my original gate was in the B terminal but after landing it was switched to the A terminal. I took the sky train to the A terminal and then 10 minutes later I get a notification saying my gate had changed again and I was supposed to be back in the B terminal. I had a short layover so all this running around didn't give me any time to relax before my flight. After all of that, the plane was late taking off because of a pileup of other planes competing to get off the ground. read more

I was going to Minot North Dakota for my little sister's funeral. The flight was supposed to leave at 730 am from Las Vegas. We didn't leave until 810 am. By time I got to Denver the plane was boarding. I had to try and walk down to the a concord to take a shuttle to the gate. Needless to say I missed my flight. To get a hold of someone to help me reschedule was a nightmare. I sat on hold for 25 minutes as my phone was at 30 percent. They finally answered and it was a process of about 25 minutes to get it rescheduled. I flew out at 800 pm. Then on the way back they left Minot late again. Late about 35 minutes. Got to Denver and had to basically walk from one concord to the tram again But time I got to the gate it was final boarding call. I almost missed my flight again. Today 10/17/2025 i took a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Houston on flight UA 1410 and some guy that was supposed to be in 15a was allowed to sit next to me in seat 15b. The guy was weird from the jump because I was sitting in the aisle seat & he tried to get between my legs to get to the middle seat & he tried to block me from standing up to get in the aisle so he could get in his seat. I had to tell him" I'm not going to let you get between my legs" Initially i alerted the skinny blonde female flight attendant that this seat was supposed to be vacant. Her response was "the plane hasn't finished boarding, but you can tell the gate agent" we were already on the flight so idk who tf that was. The guy kept touching me with his arm the whole flight. Literally. I don't care where my arm was, on the armrest, folded in front of me, even in my lap! I had to call the flight attendant again & this time the plus sized flight attendant came & she motioned to him to keep his arm within the contines of his seat because he didn't speak English, only egbo & Spanish. Even when the the plane landed i stood up in the aisle & the guy stood up and went out of his way to press his arm against mine. I finally snapped & told him to stop fkn touching me! It might've been understandable yeah he was morbidly obese, but this guy was 150lbs. United Airlines is the only company that you can still be allowed to touch someone without consequence Post the me-too era. I don't know if this needs to go to the governor's chair but someone needs to do something because they're allowing people that force themselves on others into this country. Booked a flight on their website and got a good price. Then when you click to choose your seat all of the seats were economy plus or extra leg room and cost more money. I looked and it appeared all the seats on the plane had an up charge. Very annoying to be quoted a price and find that the price quoted could never be the actual price. Wow, we have had some issues with air travel lately! We usually fly another airline, but decided to give United another try. It has been ok in the past. Our last trip included delays, a cancellation, weather issues, technical issues, a broken suitcase, and my personal favorite, idling on the tarmac for 45 mins to burn excess fuel so our plane wouldn't be so heavy. Throughout all of the issues, I will say that the staff remained calm, helpful and kind. That doesn't make up for all the problems we encountered though. read more

Our flight was canceled going to Puerto Vallarta because of Cartel violence. We were told to talk to an agent and they would get our bags off the plane. We waited 4 hours and still don't have them. When we asked where they were United Airlines "agents" they were snappy with us and one said "you might wait all night" and clearly didn't care to try helping us. I've seen tons of passengers asking for help and not one United Airlines employee has been friendly, helpful, or even looked like they were trying to care. I intentionally packed light for my trip--just a backpack and a small fanny pack--to avoid extra fees, fully aware of United's reputation for nickel-and-diming customers. Unfortunately, their customer service was just as terrible as expected. At check-in, I was unfairly targeted and told I had to check my backpack for a $40 fee. On top of that, I was threatened with an additional $40 charge unless I "condensed" my fanny pack. I specifically chose a backpack for this trip to avoid fees and checking in luggage, yet guy in charge of the Kiosk refused to scan approval for my boarding pass until I paid for my small purse I always carried at no charge. It felt like pure intimidation. If I had been able to check in online, I doubt this would have happened. However, my internet was spotty Meanwhile, I flew to my destination with JetBlue--zero issues, no unnecessary fees, and at a much better price. I love JetBlue!!!!!!!! To make matters worse, I noticed plenty of other passengers with multiple bags who weren't forced to check theirs. It felt unfair and I felt targeted. I am respectfully requesting a refund of my $40. On UAL fight 614 from Houston to Sacramento on Jan 7, 2023, my husband switched his Vietnam Veterans cap to a warm beanie due to the forecasted inclement weather in Sacramento. His precious Vietnam Veterans cap with several commemorative pins, was left on the plane when we disemkbarked! I filed a "lost item" form online as soon as we returned home and realized it was not with our baggage (he had probably lost it when he had changed to his beanie), along with a selfie I had shot prior to takeoff in Houston. I received an acknowledgment email then several "system tracking" update emails letting me know that they had not found the cap; however, it was still an "active" case. On Feb 4, I received an email with a travel voucher for $150 (!!) as a "good will gesture" to be used for flight, baggage, etc with an expiration of a whole year to 2/4/2024! Well, on Feb 10, I received an email that stated UAL had LOCATED the cap in Houston and options were given as to its return. AMAZING! We were so happy to be able to get his sentimental Vietnam Veterans cap back, we opted to pay the shipping to have it returned. I have lost and placed several reports to Hawaiian Air and NEVER received such caring responses and a resolution PLUS an unsolicited financial perk!
