I had a birthday bike scheduled for this past Saturday March 7th at 10:35. When I saw the forecast on the Thursday before, I reached out to ask what happens if it rains. They said they ride rain or shine unless it's unsafe, lightning, flooding or heavy winds. I told them I still wanted to go if possible and they said no problem. Come Saturday night, the weather was really bad and my driver, Chelsea reached out to let me know she would have to cancel my birthday bike due to flooding and severe lightning. I was disappointed but honestly glad they made the decision to keep everyone in my party safe. It's not worth dying over being struck by lightning!!! I received a store credit for the full amount I paid $410 and they let me know it does not expire and can be gifted as well. June 26 approx after 7pm on Elgin and Main Street, the bike bar driver, an African American male with black sunglasses, was having a full on road rage episode with several cars on the road, swerving erratically between lanes to not allow them to pass, screaming obscenities and flipping off cars. I approached the intersection and gave him plenty of space to merge lanes, I even waved him a courtesy gesture to go ahead of me. Suddenly I too became the target of his rage, he was flipping me off and screaming dispite the fact I was driving very safely with awareness of his bike passengers, allowing them plenty of space. The passengers looked terrified and rightfully so. That Driver is a liability to his passengers. The business would be wise to look into this incident. The passengers appeared to be mostly Soccer fans from the World Cup, they did not have a safe experience. read more

Reaaaaaady set goooooo... Okay, it was not the Tour de France, nor was it the MS150, but it was friggin fun!!! The downtown route was nice. Our pick up was near Pitch 25 (St. Emmanuel Street). Uou cant miss it because you will see the bike lined up in the street waiting for you. Before you ride: The driver will text you to ensure you are still on for that date and time. I appreciated that ride. He will also take a picture the person who reserved the bike. They should come up with a better way to verify/validate person who made the reservation as this made me feel very uneasy. Parking: There is a paid parking lot right next to Pitch 25, which was great. I didn't do a ride by to see it, so, we elected to Uber with one car and have an SUV take the other group! About the bike: There was at least 2 or 3 seats/ pedals that were broken, so either someone could sit there and not pedal (with the party) or the seat was wonky, but you could pedal. The bike holds up to 16, but not all 16 will pedal, so put your muscles on the bikes, and let your not so competitive guests sit in the caboose of the bike!!! If you have ever taken a spin class, just imagine sprinting the entire time because it feel like there is no bike chain or that there is one, but it's super loose. In other words you do not feel the tension in the bike pedals at all. Sound System: Soooooo there was no Harman Kardon, Sonos, not even an Alexa Echo, so dont push your luck... lol. The speaker did work, the radion looked like a car radio that you are able to connect via Bluetooth to. It was cool until we stopped, got out and tried to reconnect. But no fear, I had a back up plan and that was a AUX Cable. Please, please, please... I repeat, please bring an AUX just in case the radio acts up like it did on our ride! Things to know: You can bring a large cooler. It will fit in the center. Counter Space is non-existent, so food is difficult to eat. I did bar foods like peanuts, pretzels, trailmix, etc to soak up the Beer. Large bags/purses not recommended because sometimes we all get out of the bike thingy. Please wear closed toe shoes, preferably sneakers. You are going to want to grip those pedals. Another bummer is timing... Remember, the clock starts at your reservation time, so if you get there late, clock still ticks and tocks. Also the party before ours was slow to leave the trolli because they had so much stuff and apparently a lot of fun, which are into our time as well. Altogether, it was a super fun experience. All of our guests has fun... so much fun that they didnt want to stop riding so we really didnt do much bar hoping. Our guide was great and made awesome suggestions. After seeing so many pictures and videos of people having a great time on the Bike Bar, my friends and I decided to give it a try. A group of 14 of us reserved the 8:00pm slot and had no difficulty getting to the meeting area. We made sure to get plastic containers because the rules state that glass bottles are not allowed. The driver was very friendly and he even purchased napkins so we could wipe the seats down (it was raining that afternoon). Although I had a good time (being with my friends is always a good time), I have no desire to experience this again. I cycle twice a week and did not enjoy pedaling this giant bar at all. Apparently the bike has a motor but the Driver uses it within his own discretion. Had he decided to use it more, this review may have received 5 stars. We were all exhausted within the first few minutes of pedaling and I even bruised my knee. Of course we know it's a giant bike that requires pedaling, but two seats don't use pedals and one of the chains were off one bike seat. Overall, I think this is one of those activities you do once just to say you did. It cost $360 to reserve the bar, which we split amongst all the participants. The company's Instagram gives 20% off codes, so use those codes instead of using a purchasing a Groupon. I think the activity should not cost $360 if they're not going to use the gas motor. read more

Ok so this is really cool if you have a lot of people. For some reason I thought we did not have to pedal it so I booked it without knowing that info. Big mistake! I thought we would just sit on there like a bike tour where they would drive. I booked it for me and my parents/aunt & uncle and they are all over 50! We did not make it very far and unfortunately my mom got dehydrated on the trip. It was hard for us all to pedal because of obvious reasons and because there weren't enough people. We celebrated my homegirl's 26th birthday with Houston Bike Bar, and we had a phenomenal time! This is the perfect group activity and surprisingly less tiresome than you would think! Our tour guide Woody was so patient (especially dealing with 10+ drunks), and he definitely made the experience much better! Pros: //FUN! --As we passed all the midtown bars, we enjoyed waving to the crowds. All eyes are on you when you're riding this thing! //BYOB -- Just no glass! We pre-mixed a few cocktails and brought along a couple of 6 packs. //Bar stops -- Hop on and hop off at your leisure. //Bluetooth speakers -- This is what REALLY gets the party started. Cons: //BYOE (Bring Your Own EVERYTHING) -- Nothing was included, not even a cooler with ice. For $300, I think a cooler should be thrown in there somewhere. //Price -- Maybe I'm a cheapskate, and don't get me wrong... this was SUPER fun. But I am not sure it's worth $300-$400 for a 2-hour ride around a couple of block in midtown. Not to mention, you still have to provide all drinks, cups, ice, a cooler, and of course, tip your driver! If you split the costs between friends (like we did), it feels like less of a rip off. This is a GREAT group activity! This was Part III of my birthday celebration. Mr. Phillip was our guide and he definitely was being entertained by this group. We had 15 people on this peddle ride and I being the birthday girl didn't have to peddle at all. I had the privilege of sitting in the Queen's chair, taking plenty of pictures, laughing uncontrollably and drinking my DRANK! Please note that the peddle ride was equipped with a very nice sound system and it was a BYOB affair. Of course we brought peach ciroc and lemonade, Long Island tea and Bellinis. Yes we were LIT by the time this ride was over. To keep the party interesting, Phillip took us to a few of the local bars downtown. Our first stop was at Sunny's Bar. The bar was very dark on the inside, but they had a variety of Jell-O shots for us to choose from. The pineapple was everything. I meant to ask the bartender what was in it. After a few of those, we were back to peddling around downtown Houston. Up the hills and around the corner we went jamming to music and waving to spectators as if we were in a parade. Our second stop was at Lucky's Lodge! Boy did we get lucky. This spot had crawfish. Man, I am so hoping that we weren't drunk because the crawfish was on point. Talk about SEASONED all the way through and spicy. Mind you none of us are native Houstonians. We all are here by way of Mississippi and Louisiana. So you know how we love our crawfish!!!!! We stayed a little too long in this joint, but it was worth it. We are planning a trip back to try the crawfish when we are sober. See you soon Lucky's Lodge! Again, I really enjoyed this event! The thought of cycling a.k.a working out as I am with friends, drinking, and in downtown Houston scares the jibbies out of me. I am not the one that likes to combine this risky combo but after a long time buddy hosted his party on the Bike bar, I did not want to be the ONE that didn't show up. The party started at 8 pm (odd for riding a bike at night) brought my RTIC cup and instructed and hopped on the stool. I will admit the fact that my curvaceous body parts were on the way of making the seat more comfortable, I honestly forgot about it once the music was pumped and my friend who was the bartender that night was "pourin it up!" The Bike bus lights up, the music is turned up loud and as you have a great conversation with friends, as you cycle and the usual Instagramer wants to video you on the bus, I have to say I had tons of fun! We did make a couple of stops at the more popular bars in the area so we did get a break in between the cycling. Thank God! Ok, so really the cycling was not that bad (as far as I remember) but over all this trip couldn't be as fun without our tour guy/driver! He made this experience so memorable and I cannot wait to ride the bike again! read more

IT GOT BETTER! After my disaster of a birthday, I never wanted to ride the Bike Bar again. We started 2 hours late, had to lug our HUGE cooler back and forth because the driver (Gabriel) didn't know what he was doing with the party before us, the motor didn't work on the bike, as soon as we got on we got stopped by the police. Everything that could have gone wrong, DID! I complained. HBB didn't do anything but give we another ride. I hated that but they don't care about their customers. Or that is what it felt like at the moment. We didn't want out second ride to go to waste. My husband and I decided to use if for his bday in January. The experience was so much different. Our driver this time, John Wayne (not a joke), was amazing! He knew exactly where to take us and how to get there. He didn't take us in circles like Gabriel. He was personable and really sweet. When it was time to take us to the next bar, he would come in and tell everyone in our party. HE REMEMBERED EVERYONE! Great ride. I would do it again if I was promised that John or an equal of him would be in charge of the bike bar. read more

Only reason this company has 1 star is so I could write a review...let me start by saying that the driver arrives to the area high off of marijuana...we parked at the designated area and i got out the car to ask if it was ok to park there, he (Fuego) said it was fine. After our tour, we came back to our parking location to our cars being gone. I called his manage, Chelsey, to see what we can do about it and she said there was nothing we could do. All I gotta say is we had a blast!!!! We were on the third day of celebrations for my wife's birthday. You may think that this is a ride for the gym rats, but I'm here to tell you this is for everyone! It's not strenuous at all!!! You have so many folks peddling you can take a break whenever you feel the need. One of our invited couples has already informed us that they had so much fun they've decided that will be hosting a ride next month. The pickup location is in the downtown area which offers plenty of places to make pit stops for breaks, food, and of course more libations!! You can also bring libations with you for the bike bar service doesn't provide any beverages. We prepared three of our favorite mixed drinks for all of our guests. We made Peach Bellinis, Peach Ciroc with Lemonade, and a Long Island Ice Tea. We put the cocktails in water bottles leaving just enough room to hold a little crushed ice. We put the bottles in the freezer before putting them in the ice chest to help chill them. We also brought along some small water bottles and chips to snack on during the ride. We had a freezer bag of crushed ice to pass around so everyone could drizzle a lil bit into their water bottles of libations. We had two bottles of mixed drinks for everyone which was enough. As for the music entertainment you can Bluetooth your phone or iPad to the sound system and DJ your own music. The speaker system on the bike is awesome! You can pick a route for the driver or you can let him pick a route. Four our tour we let the driver pick our stops. The first stop we had Jell-O shots and the second was for crawfish and more libations. There was another stop somewhere but for some unknown reason my memory is a lil hazy.....LOL!!!! Got a Groupon deal and set up a little get together for co-workers. Everyone had a great time, even though we did it on Sunday night at which point, all downtown bars were basically dead. If I didn't get tetanus in Galveston, I may have gotten it on this bike. The bar top and seats were rusted and broken not to mention the sound system was worse than my 96 Honda Accord. Unprofessional is just one of the many words used to describe our captain and captain in training.
