The food was good and was a chicken and steak option with sides. They served you both. Drinks were extra as were optional starters. Service was good but could have been more attentive given they were only bringing drinks and clearing the table. After dinner a DJ played music on an upstairs, open air deck before the fireworks started. Anyone in the area can obviously see the show so you don't need to be on the boat but why not. I'd say it's worth doing even if it's maybe a one time thing.

I purchased our tickets and food in advance so everything would be ready when we boarded, especially since the cruise is only one hour. We ordered the lemon pepper wings, which are always a good option on their menu I also recommend the charcuterie board. The wings were fried crispy, heavily seasoned, and definitely worth a try. We also ordered the shrimp and crab dip which was just okay. The shrimp had the texture and warmth of being microwaved for too long they were rubbery, flavorless, and disappointing. The bread served with the dip was very hard, difficult to eat, and made a huge mess. While on the cruise we ordered two cocktails that were very delicious. I just can't remember the names at the moment, but I'll update my review if I do. The yacht itself is beautiful, large, elegant, and spacious. From all the windows you're able to enjoy the incredible views and breathtaking scenery throughout the cruise which is definitely my favorite part. The reason I'm rating this experience three stars is because of the rude, dismissive, and aggressive attitude of the staff and supervisor when it came to receiving our prepaid food and redeeming our parking voucher through the Landry's Select Club program, which has been listed online for years. The supervisor treated us with the utmost disrespect and didn't give us an opportunity to explain nor have a conversation about the situation at hand. Instead, she repeated inaccurate information against what was posted online and acted as if we were asking her to pay for the parking voucher out of her own pocket. Including that what later made the experience even more uncomfortable was that she stood across from us at the bar and openly discussed us in a rude manner, which made the remainder of our cruise unpleasant. Would I charter this yacht again? Maybe. The yacht itself is beautiful, the views are unforgettable, and some of the food and drinks were great. However, the poor customer service left a lasting impression that makes me uncomfortable and unsure if we would return.

The Bay Area Sailing School that runs out of Sackett's Sailing Center was a great experience for…read moreme, a totally novice sailor. The Basic Keelboat class had about 20 participants for the half-day classroom session Saturday morning, but when we broke for practical on-the-water instruction all afternoon Saturday and 8-2 Sunday, there were just three to four students per boat, giving us all a chance to practice each basic maneuver. The two day course was just under $300, which includes 2 full days of instruction, books, log book, a several hour mentor sail, and a half day bareboat charter for our first trip out without an instructor. My husband took this class last year and later did the mentor sail. He then followed it up with the second three day course ASA 103 and 104 -- Basic coastal cruising and Bareboat chartering. We haven't yet taken advantage of his free half day bareboat charter because of the long drive down to Kemah and inability to schedule in advance for weekends, but don't expect there will be a scheduling problem if we can make it down there mid-week. My bareboat today just had three students--two young professionals (1 guy-late 20s and one girl, late 20s) and me, a 54 year old wife and mom. The instruction was thorough and good humored. We started out without a clue what we were doing, but soon were tacking and jibing without scaring our captain. For anyone wanting to get a first taste of sailing, this is a great start. I don't have experience with the sailing club or charters yet, but as a school it rocks.

Glenn was very nice to deal with on the phone and was very accommodating, making sure we had a boat to stay on the night before the course. I called ahead and he had the air conditioner running and boat nice and cool when we got there. The next morning we met our instructor for the weekend. Wayne was a very knowledgeable and proficient sailor with years of experience. He seemed to have an interesting sea story for everything that could happen to you aboard a boat. He was very patient and reassuring with my son (age 16). He was always calm and in control and he would let you make mistakes and learn from them. We were so lucky to have him as our mentor. If we choose to further our sailing education, I will definitely be giving these guys a call.

Thrilling, Fast, and Fun for Everyone!…read more I went on the Boardwalk Beast speedboat ride in July, and I can honestly say it was my best speedboat experience so far. From start to finish, the energy and excitement never let up. One thing I really appreciated was that the drivers didn't tone things down just because there were kids on board. Too often, family activities get watered down under the assumption that younger passengers can't handle a bit of speed and thrill -- but here, everyone got the full experience, and it made the ride so much more enjoyable. The boat tore across the water with plenty of twists, turns, and splashes, giving just the right mix of adrenaline and fun. The ride was also a decent length -- not one of those experiences that's over before you can really enjoy it. I left feeling like I got great value for my ticket and a truly memorable adventure. If you're looking for a high-energy, wind-in-your-face thrill that the whole family can enjoy without it being overly "tame," the Boardwalk Beast is absolutely worth it. I would definitely be back for another round!

You will definitely get wet during the fast turns, no matter where you sit. Heading out of the harbor and back in you also have a beautiful view of the coastline and the bay. You buy tickets onsite, at a booth right behind where the boat is anchored. Ride times are posted there, and I think the frequency of ride times depends on how busy it is at the boardwalk, it's not running continuously. I was on the water around 20 minutes. The only thing I would recommend against is buying the rain poncho they offer. Since the ride is so fast, the ponchos of the guests in front of me were just blowing behind them only attached to their necks, and they got as wet as if they hadn't worn anything. I chose to wear a heavier zip up rain jacket which kept me somewhat drier, but my pants were still drenched and water even spilled down from my neck, so be prepared. Best on a hot day but lots of fun even on a cold spring day. Must try at least once.

Additionally there's a wooden fence behind the hotel that makes you walk further to get around it. There's only a Texas Roadhouse restaurant close by that's got bad yelp reviews so I didn't try it. There's an adjacent factory outlet but all the fast food options in the food court also had pretty bad reviews. We had our driver take us over to Buc-ee's and we did like the food there. So the hotel location is not great for a family like ours with 2 nights and no rental car. We flew in from CA to Hobby. The hotel itself had an odd front door that was so nondescript that I wasn't sure we had pulled up to the entrance. It's plain glass unmarked entrance. It looked like a side door. But I went in to find the front desk and checked in. The woman was nice and since I'm platinum I received a gift bag which was a nice perk with some snacks. We did not like the breakfast food at all. The sausage is that awful turkey sausage. They also had a strange ground sausage that looked like animal food in pellets. I would much rather have a jimmy dean breakfast sandwich. And the eggs always are dehydrated mixed with water and nasty. The room itself was clean. It had 2 queens and a sofa with twin trundle bed for the kids. The pool is another story. Texas is hot and humid and a good swimming pool is important. This "pool" was smaller than our hotel room. A real disappointment I would probably not stay at this location again.

Our room was clean and comfortable, we did ask for additional bedding for the trundle bed and got a ripped blanket. The front desk also seemed irritated we were asking. It was very convenient to have the outlet mall and Buc-ee's within walking distance. The included breakfast was nice. We would stay here again if we were in the area.
