Mike Fox from Maine Proofing came out, walked on the roof, saw the existing patchwork and leaky vents that had been caulked some time ago. He agreed that there was enough slope for a metal roof. I chose a dark blue, standing (hidden) seam. I learned that the roofing was supplied by Maine Amish. I was happy to buy from a local source. Once the dumpster arrived, he and the crew got the job done in three days. The sheathing was intact and did not need replaced. I decided to have the shingles removed, and that was done. He and the crew installed new boots for the vent and caulked them--one of the old ones had a large hornet's inside! They installed a high temp ice and water shield over the whole roof. This was covered by a snap lock standing seam metal roof, 19 gauge, I think. They installed rake trim along the rakes and the gable ends complete with starter J channel, and Z closures at the cap installation, and used Geosill and butylene sealing tape where needed. The debris was cleaned up, at least 99%. I'm happy. I did not get the chance to borrow their ladder to take pics, but my stepson went up and confirmed that it was well done. Communication with Mickey and his office was prompt and friendly: in going over the proposal, scheduling the work, and throughout the full day the work was completed. When I was having difficulty choosing a shingle color that would complement the grays and browns in my weathered shake siding, Mickey put me in touch with his local shingles supplier, calling ahead so they expected me. And when they saw photos of my house, they suggested a color I hadn't been considering. Turned out it was the perfect match for my house, and it looks amazing. (It also turned out to be the only color they didn't have in stock locally, and Mickey then drove down to New Hampshire himself to secure the necessary bundles on short notice.) My house is old, and there were a couple of unforeseen issues once demo was underway, but Mickey was proactive and creative in addressing them. Mickey's crew were top-notch pros, did beautiful, careful work, and left my yard spotless. I called him this morning as we experienced some leakage on the porch addition which had been part of the original job. I was overwhelmed when I asked him if he could take a look at the problem and he showed up today, the same day I called! Dan discovered that the flashing adhesive had stiffened up causing a separation of some of the flashing from the roof and within 30 minutes he was done fixing it and gone! I have ever heard or witnessed such unprofessional, unsafe, and disruptive work. They covered my kitchen window without notifying me. They have a man on a roof above my bathroom window so I cannot use my bathroom with privacy, again, without making me aware this would happen. There is a man on the next door roof that is not using any kind of harness or safety equipment. Furthermore, I have heard the leader/boss scream at his employees now for an hour. He is constantly screaming at them for urgency but then screaming at them with corrections/frustration as soon as they do anything. They are making a truly inconsiderate and extreme amount of noise with their every action, even considering the fact that they're roofing. Slamming, dropping, dragging, screaming.

Based in part on Owen Corning web page and in part on Yelp reviews I contacted Marsters Roofing. Marsters Roofing responded within an hour, and arranged to come within 2 days. Ephraim showed up on time and inspected the roof with ladder and drone. He replaced the damaged shingle we were aware of and replaced another damaged one that he found in different place on our roof. Now our roof is fixed and with the drone inspection we know there are no problems hidden in areas that we can't see. The cost for the repair seemed quite reasonable, especially considering that they did not install the roof to begin with.
