Absolutely unprofessional . The receptionist who is bilingual at the front is not courteous at all and doesn't even speak when you come to sign in . She doesn't even bother to give you eye contact . Very dismissive . Kirby location . At the sw freeway location they're always late . I was never given life threatening information and the Nurse practitioner lied and said she told me . I'm very healthy conscious anything that is preventable I fix . While calling about a prescription I'm casually told about the life threatening issue and told it's very serious and I can't take it lightly . Ok if it's so serious why didn't anybody tell me ? She didn't arrive until 10:30 am and let 2 people who just arrived go before the ones who already been sitting there. Honestly, I was shocked that it was not the worst experience. I am from Louisiana, and surprising Louisiana health care is much better than Texas healthcare. I needed some routine tests completed, so I went this route. They will set up appointments 24 hours by text which was awesome. I texted late at night and got an appointment the very next day. I have never been to a doctor who didn't return my calls. I had problems with chest pains. I had a stress test. The doctor said I needed further tests and to wait on a call from the hospital to schedule the test. I haven't heard one word!!! My reg doctor called to no avail. Had to wait over 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen because there weren't any rooms... was finally put in the "employee lounge" which had 1 chair, but no equipment including no hand sanitizer (that is scary). On several occasions I have called with requests and they have been very accommodating and were handled promptly and professionally. The nurse practitioner is very thorough. The first time I saw her instead of the doctor I had reservations but was pleasantly surprised on how efficient she was and have seen her ever since. Thanks to the staff for your assistance. Do not, I repeat DO NOT come here. Not only do they see you three hours after your scheduled appointment time but they want you to make an appointment for everything!!! They charged me $20 for my physical and then of course the cost of the bloodwork. And then they billed my insurance $150 just for their medical assistant to call me and tell me my lab results from my physical ( they refused to prescribe me vitamin d over the phone and wanted me to make another appointment in office so they could charge me again). Like what??? What kind of doctors office does this. Lol, also if you are just needing birth control this is another reason this place is so horrible. They make you come back every 3 months to get a pregnancy test unlike a real doctors office where you see them yearly. Also my exam was done in their break room with a refrigerator and everything. According to the company's website, they have cheap blood tests and are open on Saturday. When you show up, they tack on a hidden $70 upcharge; and inform you that no blood tests take place on Saturdays--or, for that matter, after 430 on weekdays. This facility should be shut down. I went in with my husband on a Saturday. He didn't have insurance so he would be a self pay patient. They called him to the window and asked him how much did someone quote him over the phone. This let me know they make up their own prices. The lobby was in fair condition. When we were called to the back, the hallways and rooms looked run down and extremely dirty for that to be a medical clinic. We were greeted by an older African woman who seemed to listen to my husbands concerns. We asked about some things to increase his sperm count, she recommended viagra. Immediately I knew she wasn't too bright. They took some blood work to check for diabetes and other basic labs. He was told to come back in a week for the results. Some how they miss handled the blood and it clotted so he had to go back and give more blood. We came back a week later to get the results only to be seen by a different "doctor" named Dr. Tony. He said he would need to order more blood work because he didn't know who the lady was that we saw previously and the blood work she ordered wasn't what he needed. Im upset now because we wasted our time to come for a follow up only to be told we needed more blood work and to come back again for a follow up. Each visit and blood work order cost us. This "doctor" did not use professional medical terminology AT ALL. He didn't make sense at all. Upon further research, I find out he isn't a doctor and they are just working under a doctors name who isn't even a doctor at the clinic!!!!! Please steer clear of this place. They only want money. Beware!! I have private PPO insurance and initially went to this office for a general check-up and seeking a regular PCP. First visit I paid my co-pay and was seen by the nurse practitioner and was instructed to have labs done. Mind you, I completed a form stating that results could be given to me over the phone. I couldn't get the blood drawn because the lab tech left early that day. I did go in to have the blood drawn about 3 days later. So about 1 week and a few days go by and I get a call that my results are in and if I could come in to discuss. Immediately, I get worried and telling myself, Why would they want me to come in? So I told the young lady, "Of course!" For a moment thinking the worse and not remembering the form I filled out giving consent to have my results read over the phone. Nor, was I reminded by the caller. Upon arrival for my results, I was told I needed to pay another co-pay to see the doctor for lab results!!!! Where on earth do they do this at? Apparently at, Houston Family Physicians on Kirby. This was so unheard of to me! Anyway the front desk lady tried to explain that since I wanted to see the doctor that there was another co-pay. Well ma'am, I really don't care who I see, I just want the results breakdown and No, I will not be paying another co-pay. So she handed me 3 sheets of paper with my results and started to walk off from the desk, smh. She then looked at me and said, "Is there anything else?" I'm standing there like, UMM YES, what in the heck does this mean on this paper? Can someone explain it to me? Low and behold the lab tech was sitting there and said, "You can come over here and I'll explain it." REALLY???? So what they could've told me over the phone I was asked to come to the office for. Oh and just forget talking to me in private huh? Lack of communication and trying to squeeze an extra dollar if the patient doesn't recognize it, ruins this OFFICE! I WILL NEVER BE BACK! The front desk receptionist I had to encounter has very little compassion and customer sevice skills are very poor. The finale to my saga-- if you read my previous review from 11/20/17, the "asian man" who this whole time I had thought was working as an answering service-- is the medical director!!! (according to the lab technician who answered the phone after my 6th try (no answer for all the other calls). Let me back-track: The reason I called was to check to make sure "the asian man" I texted with about 1 week ago set my appt for today, as he said 4:30p today is the only available appt. I said I would take it-- after calling & leaving messages for almost 2 weeks b/c I had not heard back about my labs from 11/6/17, I finally received a call back from the lab tech who told me that there were no labs that were concerning to the point that I had to come back & see the doctor (MD). When she emailed my results, I saw that my CK is over 200 points over normal! So I texted with the asian man (med director) and agreed to see the MD. Today, day of my appt, I decided to call the clinic to make sure I actually had an appt, considering how my past experiences have been. Like I said earlier--I called 5 times & left 1 msg-- no answer until my 6th try. The lab tech who answered told me there was no appointment set for me! So if I hadn't called to check, I would have been REALLY upset all over again!! I explained the situation to the lab tech who said she would ask the MD to call me. For the 1st time, he actually did this time but unfortunately, his first comment to me was "Why haven't you come back to see me in a month?" (in an accusatory tone). I started to explain about how I was waiting on my lab results and it took over a month (of me having to chase down the lab technician!) to get my results, but he just kept talking over me and kept saying he would transfer me to his "assistant" so I can schedule a follow up appt. Needless to say, I will never return to this place or any of the physicians affiliated with this group. Be warned!!! STOP AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEW FIRST. ABSOLUTLEY THE WORST MEDICAL SET UP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. LIKE THIRD WORLD STUFF. It all started when I was looking for someone to do bloodwork. They stated over the phone the amount sounded good, so I came in same day to get it done. I had to wait a little while to get in but that was alright because they agreed to take me in same day. Went to the receptionist to pay for the bloodwork which I paid in cash 350.00 ( didn't accept checks) but she didn't have change so I gave her my CC but she stated both cards were declined knew that was wrong so she ran them both again. still declined with her credit machine so she stated she would ask the DR for change for 1 of the hundreds I had. Told me to sit down she'd be back after about thirty minutes another receptionist called my name and wanted me to pay again I told her I had given the other receptionist my money and she went to go get change . she then told me she had left for the day. This should have been a wake up call but they said they would review there camera and get it back to me after all we shouldn't judge 1 person maybe she just forgot? so now after waiting the 20 days for bloodwork and the phone call for the camera to get back I called them for the results and was told that the bloodwork was somehow destroyed and they would have to give me orders to go to another facility to do the work again and I would have to pay all over again and then they would reimburse me later. So many miscommunications. I was given a bill that will hurt me for a long time after I was told it was for free. It took them three times to draw blood from my vein. First, I was told I didn't have to fast when I actually did. Second, I was told to fast and come in that morning and the Phlebotomist was not there. Third time was a charge, but took forever to get my results. I went in to get my results and was given it piece by piece. One of the last times I was there I was sent to an X-Ray room and told the service was free with my wellness exam. I made it clear that I did not want to do this if this was going to cost me. He assured me it did not along with sending it to the radiologist. More than likely this guy Dr. Khoa Nguyen is a crook OR his English is not on par. He cleared me to work to, but the employer said that I was not able to do so with my conditions/disabilities. Stay away from this Doctor. read more
