I don't know a more competent and effective counselor for that purpose, and I know many. I have referred my own clients to Michael, but also family members, all people I care deeply about and desperately want to see experiencing relief and success. He has never failed to deliver. I am especially impressed by Michael's demonstrated habit of referring out when a client's needs are outside his specialization. He could easily trade on his reputation to draw clients who might be better served elsewhere. But he is a true specialist. As to his manner, Micheal is wonderfully approachable and relatable. He's easy to know, and a pleasure just to spend time with. No expert ego issues. I will continue to rely upon him for clients experiencing the often devastating impact of OCD. He's the real deal (in a field where that's all too rare). I highly recommend him, and without reservation. I had been misdiagnosed for years and been through a few poor therapists before finally finding him & having him confirm my OCD diagnosis. I felt immediately comfortable talking to him about even those most uncomfortable things, and could tell he genuinely cared and understood. He has so much knowledge not only from being trained in ERP, CBT & ACT but also from his personal experience with having OCD. It's so relieving to have a therapist who truly understands the struggle and is living proof that you can recover and take back the power OCD has stolen from you. He has a positive attitude and is your biggest cheerleader in your recovery without promoting any toxic positivity or fake enthusiasm. He really helps you get to the root of your obsessions and compulsions, and understanding what to do with that information. He sends you wonderful articles and homework assignments to use as tools throughout the week and gives great book recommendations to supplement weekly sessions. I still have a lot to learn but I feel as if I've already progressed so much within the short time I've been working with Michael. I started out feeling hopeless, terrified, resistant, confused, desperate and depressed. I was worried I was beyond help, and overloaded by all my issues, especially having health anxiety during a pandemic.. Now I am learning so much more about myself, making sense of my issues, learning how to become comfortable discomfort, and getting closer and closer to the light at the end of the tunnel each day. I am excited to see how much further I can go. If you are unsure if you have OCD but suspect you might, he can spot it from a mile away & his assessment tools help identify what areas you are struggling in and may struggle with in the future. The care I received did not align with what was advertised on the website or included in my invoice. There were multiple basic supplies missing throughout my stay, including gauze pads, alcohol wipes, functioning medical equipment, and other items specifically listed as part of the "all inclusive" package. I also did not receive amenities that were advertised, including the swag bag, peptide/collagen drinks, and other recovery items. The biggest concern was the level of patient care and medication management. Staff repeatedly failed to administer medications correctly or consistently. On one occasion, when I asked for anti-nausea medication after vomiting from severe pain, I was brought the wrong medication entirely. Staff also could not consistently tell me when pain medication had last been administered, which resulted in unnecessary pain and distress during recovery. I was frequently left alone for extended periods of time despite being in a vulnerable post-operative condition. I was often left alone in my room with nobody checking on me for hours at a time. Calls for assistance frequently went unanswered, vitals were rarely checked unless I specifically asked, and important information such as drain outputs was not consistently recorded. My bed pads were never changed during my stay, which was both unhygienic and unacceptable for a post-surgical recovery facility. One staff member spent the majority of the time on her phone and would stay in another room rather than monitoring me. During massages, the massage therapist repeatedly had to ask staff to assist me with basic needs such as ice and water. Another serious issue was the communication barrier. One caregiver could not adequately read medication labels or assist with important information relating to my care, which I found extremely concerning for a recovery facility responsible for post-surgical patients. The meals provided were also extremely disappointing. They were bland, repetitive, and lacked variety. I was never once asked what foods I wanted to eat - nothing that is in the supposed menu on their website was provided to me. There were also no snacks available, and when I asked for collagen or peptide drinks, I was told there were none. At one point, the caregiver had to leave the apartment for approximately 30 minutes to buy food because there was no stock in the apartment and nothing available for me to eat for breakfast, leaving me completely alone without care or supervision during my post-operative recovery. I was also concerned by the fact that caregivers were using their phones while driving, which I found incredibly unsafe, especially while transporting post-operative patients. When I attempted to raise my concerns with the owner, she came to the apartment and screamed at me while standing over me as I lay recovering in a chair. Rather than addressing the issues professionally, I was accused of being racist and rude to staff. I categorically deny this. I have multiple witnesses, including a highly respected massage therapist who attended during my stay, who can attest that my concerns were entirely related to patient care and safety, and that I was never rude or discriminatory toward staff. The owner is also now attempting to claim that I asked to extend my stay, which is completely false. At no point did I request an extension. I attempted to resolve these concerns privately before leaving this review. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply distressing and did not reflect the level of care or professionalism advertised. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to avoid this place at all costs.

The food was excellent, facility super clean, Rehab therapists excellent and overall care good. We did have some challenges with my husband's demanding care at first but overtime we worked it our with the caring Director of Nursing Annie and amazing new Executive Director Michael. There were so many positives at Brazo Towers that I recommend it. The care of a stroke patient such as my husband is very difficult and necessitates a very active family advocate all the time. We were very disappointed in the lack of patient activities. Although a vigorous monthly calendar was posted very little activities occurred during my husband's stay. When we were leaving we saw indication regarding possible improvement in that area as well.
