Personally I am probably not coming back, but that does not mean you should not try it. We heard that a TX Chicken place was coming to Novi, so we decided to try an already established location. The parking lot was packed, but not for this place. For most of the time, it was empty and we were the only customers. A couple other parties did come in, but it was not as crowded as other big name chicken places. The décor was cute, but my husband was confused by what the actually theming was. Was it Houston? No clear direction. But it was eye catching. The people who worked here were mostly friendlyish, but the main person was super dry and not at all personable. It seemed like we were bothering this person even though she was fair and efficient. Just not friendly at all. The food was super expensive, especially for the portion size. The meal cost more than a typical sit down restaurant, especially for the experience, portion size, and the quality, and that's not okay. I guess I would rather have a sit down experience compared to this. I can go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for cheaper chicken and fries plus chips and salsa for less money. The fries were really good, well seasoned, crispy and thick. The cheese dipping sauce was really good, but pricy for the amount given. The house sauce was not bad, but the BBQ was just a brand name pre-made cut, and not a house sauce, surprising for a chicken place. And the syrup was also a pre-made cup, not a house made syrup for a place that wants to do waffles. The waffles were good, very sweet, seemed like a Belgian liege style, I would recommend it and they do offer a la carte waffles. The chicken sandwich was probably the best of the chicken. Both kids got the honey butter sauce. They were tasty, but so small for a $12 price a la carte, and even more with fries. The strips were disappointing. The chicken was not juicy enough and the actual chicken had very little flavor. We got plain, honey butter, mild and medium. The plain one did not have much flavor, even good seasoning to it. The mild and medium were red in color but lacked flavor. The lemonades were very good, but super expensive. Honestly, go to Shake Shack down the street, their lemonades are great and refillable, also larger and less expensive. Personally, Dave's Hot Chicken would be my go-to in the hot chicken category of fast food. And Shaquille O'Neil's chicken place is the place I would return to for a variety of options plus milk shakes. The shakes here were honestly too expensive to try even though they looked good. Since parking was limited, I imagine most people were at Panda next door, where the prices are better and the portions are bigger. Plus there are so many wing a strip places around us, I would need an amazing experience to come back soon and this was unfortunately not it. But, if you are a hot chicken fan, give this place a try and see for yourself. read more

To start, Kahmiah greeted me with a warm welcome from the moment I walked through the doors. This was my first time at a Houston TX Hot Chicken establishment. At work, we had delivered coupons and decided I'd give them a try. I did not regret my decision to come here for lunch. They had low house and dance music playing, but not loud club levels. The lighting was nice and modest, not blinding and bright like some places are. I would say this is a very trendy, upscale quick-service restaurant. The vibe and feel of the restaurant was very fresh and clean. The leather chairs were very comfortable. There are some good options for your entrees, but I got a three-piece tender meal and a drink. You can get drinks from the fountain or lemonades (normal or frozen). I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants fresh tenders that are fresh. In the photo I got the no spice, honey butter, and buffalo. I like that you can select the flavor for each tender, that's very unique to other experiences where they're all the same or can only get a couple flavors when placing a larger order. Kahmiah came around midway through my dining to see how my food was. Even though I asked to dine in, she asked if I needed a to-go container. Wow this place is busy, but in a good way! This Houston Tx Hot chicken just opened recently and there was a long line on Saturday but its worth the wait. The inside is really nice with super cool counter tops. There are ten tables inside to sit at. They have a machine in the back for soft drinks. Once I got to the front, I ordered a lift off chicken sandwich with spicy tenders and a fry. I also ordered a mild chicken sandwich with tenders and a fry. Condiments are separate price, and I ordered some ranch and cheese sauce. I also ordered their strawberry hisbiscus drink and it was delicious. It is definitely worth a try! We grabbed our food to go to eat at home. When I got home I realized my 2 cheese sauces and 4 ranch cups were missing. We ate the fries with ketchup at home. They also put cold slaw on one of the sandwiches which was supposed to be plain. Overall the chicken sandwich was really good once we took the slaw off. My husbands chicken tender was spicier than the sandwich though which was weird because he ordered the sandwich spicier than the tender. I think the sauce on it was removed with the cole slaw. There has been a burst of hot chicken places lately in the general area and Houston TX Hot Chicken is the latest one. We were added as part of the Yelp! Event for this location, we were given their homestyle meal. It came with a chicken sandwich, a tender, fries and a drink. I ordered mine medium heat and my son ordered it mild. The chicken/tender was perfectly cooked, but I did feel it wasn't spicy enough for medium, so if you like it hot, maybe take the next step up. this was a very good, very filling and even if I was paying for it, reasonably priced. The place was definitely busy on a Sunday night around dinner time, so do expect a wait. Our food came out hot, which is great! We went with mild since we weren't sure how spicy things were. The flavor here is definitely on the sweeter side, but I still really enjoyed it. I loved that the chicken was still juicy despite being white meat. I'm a huge fan of crinkle cut fries, so the fries here did not disappoint. Their house sauce is your typical mayo based sauce, but it's a little tangier than some other places which I really liked. When you walk in you will note there is limited seating. But the vibes in here are trendy and cool! They lost a star from me on service. The woman who took my order was rude, fast paced and just seemed annoyed to be at work. The food: I got the honey butter which really didn't have any flavor. My friend got mild and said it was a good flavor and not overly spicy. The waffle was DELICIOUS!! It was buttery, sugary and soft! The fries were seasoned well! The sauce tastes like the base is 1000 island. It's very sweet and just ok. I think Dave's sauce is better. They do have other sauces but they charge you $1.00 and honestly it's not even that much sauce! Should be an extra 0.50 if they want to upcharge. Don't miss out on the strawberry hibiscus lemonade! No free refill but it was worth it! Visited today as part of a yelp promo. Truthfully, I didn't go in with very high expectations. I'm generally quite skeptical of franchised chain restaurants. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. There are a few things that made Houston stand out. 1) their variety of house made lemonades was great. They had multiple flavors and came both traditional and frozen. I had the watermelon cucumber and loved it. My son got a berry option, frozen and loved his as well 2) the chicken was nice and crispy. We ordered carry out and the chicken stood up to car ride home. This isn't always the case with crispy food 3) Fries were delicious. Nice and well seasoned 4) Their house sauce was really good too, some kind of spicy aioli 5) I like that they toasted the buns, such a small touch but makes a huge difference 6) staff seemed to be on top of things If you're on hall road looking for a good chicken sandwich, this might be your best bet...they are miles better than the Chick Fil A down the road. we checked this place out when they first opened up the Sterling Heights location. There was hardly a wait, and it smelled amazing in there. I took about 10 minutes to come out, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, hot, well season, the stuff that you fantasize about! The sandwich had slaw and pickles the mild had a small bite to it. The tender was moist and quite crunchy the dipping sauce was mild but bit of spice. The fries were crinkle fries prepared well. So let me just say this place did not disappoint in any way whatsoever, with regard to the quality of the chicken. I would say it's similar to Dave's hot chicken. I would give an edge to Dave's sauce and slider though. I liked the tenders more than the sandwich which is uncommon for me. I went for the medium heat and it wasn't too hot. Next time I may go for the habanero heat level. The service was great, but you could tell they are new and still learning the process. Something that I wasn't a big fan of with the fact that they charge you for any extra sauce. I paid a dollar for some ranch dressing, which is fine, but I was expecting a delicious house made ranch and instead what I received was a prepackaged Ken's brand ranch that I didn't use. if I wanted prepackaged ranch, I would've just use my own at home and not paid a dollar for a little cup Some people might think the waffle is too sweet, but the waffle paired with the tender and syrup was absolutely my favorite thing. We stopped in yesterday to try it out, and the manager made sure everyone was satisfied during our meal and we got to chatting about the spice levels and she even came back out with a few complementary nuggets for me to try! For it being as crazy as it was this past Sunday, I give you five stars for keeping calm and cool under pressure. The restaurant itself was clean, pop machine was clean and there was a line standing out the door. We had about a 30 minute wait to place our order. It was super easy and thankfully we found a table had just opened up. After placing our order it took about 5-6 minutes to receive it. I ordered my toppings separate on my sandwich because I admit I can be a little picky with sauces and slaw. I also love pickles but hate them on my sandwich...everything arrived for my BF and I as ordered and piping hot. Even the crinkle cut fries which I usually always find boring and cold, my least favorite type of fry was seasoned well, hot and tasted great with the house dipping sauce. I got my sandwich and tender plain spiced and the sig other's was mild. I tried the mild spice and agreed you could feel a slight heat, definitely not overwhelming or too hot if your trying to test out what you like. Our sandwiches and crispers were super crispy and juicy. The tenders were huge! I loved the pickles on the side, they're definitely fresh, you can see the pepper corns and pickling spice on them. Not the sad little processed pickles that come from your local burger joint. Service was great, the food was great. I would definitely return again once the hype calms down a bit... the only thing I didn't care for was the video playing on the wall of people eating over sauced, squeezed and dipped food where it's sliding down their hands, faces and tables. One clip had an influencer squeezing between two hands, 4 waffles and 4 pieces of chicken and shoving it in her mouth... again, that's just my opinion, it doesn't look appetizing to me like that...I do look forward to returning in the future. Are you under the illusion that Dave's Hot Chicken is good? Let me be your guiding light and bring you here. Because it's real goood. The chicken was spiced and cooked to perfection, with a great sauce selection. I got the sandwich (w/out cheese) and I smashed that mf. And get you a hibiscus lemonade to cool things off, which was also real good. I love spicy things and got the "spicy" option which was just the right amount of spice and pain. Anything higher might actually hurt you. They even make you sign a waiver for the highest spicest. Customer service was on point even though it was packed to the brim when I went, and the owner is a nice guy too. I've been told there will be more metro detroit locations opening up. Attended a ribbon cutting event today where we sampled the goods and WOW - Forget all the other chicken places in the area, HHC is the real deal! One of the owners took the time to explain how the spices work as well as how they prepare the chicken. Fresh never frozen really makes the difference.
